Gabrielle had not been herself as of late, she was distant and most of the time refused to leave the room, taking comfort in writing her scrolls. Her mind was plagued with thoughts of Hope, the memories of her daughter not to mention her own faults as a mother. She hated that she had let Hope down. the thoughts and memories only seemed to bring her more pain and depression. She hadn't found the right time to talk to Xena about it, the warrior usually not around much either, though she usually knew where she was. Leading some training session. The bard tried not to let it bother her because she knew deep down Xena couldn’t pass up an opportunity to train. After all, she was a warrior.

Waking up, she found herself alone, wondering where Xena was off to today. The bard decided she wasn’t going to spend the day inside, though it was cloudy outside, she wasn’t going to let it bother her. The amazon queen needed out, needed fresh air and something to distract her. She got up and quickly showered then got dressed before leaving the room, venturing out to the tables, hoping by chance that she would find Xena along the way but the warrior princess was nowhere in sight.

She felt that things had changed since the day her feelings came out but hoped that wasn’t the case. The last thing she wanted was for Xena and her to drift apart because of shared feelings. Entering the stables, she walked over to where Argo was being held. She reached for a brush and moved into the stall. “Hello girl.” She whispered, brushing the horses main and her coat, sensing that Argo was enjoying the attention.

As Argo moved away, Gabrielle looked puzzled, wondering what was up with the horse, which only moments ago was enjoying being brushed. The bard set the brush down, a chill entering the room, causing her to shiver. Something suddenly didn’t feel right to the bard. She let her green eyes travel down, noticing she didn’t have her sai’s with her. Up until that very moment, she didn’t think she needed them. This place had almost no threat so carrying around a pair of sai’s attached to her boots was really just for show.

Sensing someone behind her, she froze, hoping to the Gods that they were just getting their horse and leaving. However, hearing the deep voice behind her, that caused her to turn around, her gaze locking with the strangers, a uneasy, small smile crossing her face, which quickly disappeared, figuring this man was powerful, at least something deep inside her was telling her he was.

The bard watched as his eyes traveled down her figure, a chill running over her skin, wishing she had her weapons or even a staff. At the question if she came here often, she slowly shook her head, taking a step backwards, wanting to keep as much distance between the stranger and herself. She was being slightly paranoid but it had taken her only a few seconds to realize that they were alone and he was looking at her made her uncomfortable.

“No. Not usually.” She replied, not even bothering to explain why she was here today. “I haven’t seen you around before, did you just arrive?” She asked, curiously, suddenly wishing Xena would come into the barn but she knew the warrior wasn’t coming. The bard stood there, feeling such darkness move throughout the barn, which seemed to just creep up and down her entire body. It was something she hadn’t felt, not since before she found out she was pregnant with Hope.
