He'd had a good time the previous day, greeting the archer Susan and arranging an archery contest for when the weather was better, as well as the fun at the party. Michiru was quite the dancer, and he had decided he was going to track her down later and take her up on her offer of teaching each other various dances. It was a surprise to him, in a way, that he would be willing to teach anything elven to a human, but then, things were changing. As the only elf here on Mirage that he knew of, it was pretty much impossible for him to isolate himself among his people.

Anyway, the way he'd seen the short-lived race had changed, and had in fact been starting to change even before he'd come to this strange place. It had started back at the Council of Elrond, when he'd met two humans who would gradually, over time, change his view of the race of Men. As he'd gone into the dreamlike reverie which took the place of sleep in his people, he thought back to that time, to the brave sacrifice of Boromir, son of the Steward of Gondor. Even more than that, though, the elf had been impressed by the human Ranger who had been destined to lead the people of Gondor.

He'd been at the party until quite late, but he didn't need much rest. He'd had a night full of strange unease, like something was coming, but he didn't know what. It left him feeling out of sorts, and more than a little anxious, though it wasn't clear just what he was exactly worried about, not even to him. When he rose, it was hard to tell what time it was through the wind and rain, but it felt like it was a little lighter, perhaps just after dawn. Quickly, he dressed and readied himself to go out. What he was going to do, he wasn't sure. He was restless, though, and he'd think of something.

He paused outside the door that he knew lead to his friend, and thought for a short time. It was still early, perhaps Aragorn was sleeping. On second thought, though, he'd rarely seen the human sleep past dawn. So he took his chances and rapped softly on the door, knowing that if the human was sleeping, he probably wouldn't hear it, anyway. Then, he waited, to see if his call was answered. As he waited, he thought, trying to figure out just why he was feeling so strange this morning.

The touch was lingering far too long on both sides, so the elf dropped his hand and moved gently away so that Aragorn's hand fell free. He stood and started moving restlessly around the room. Part of it was just that he wanted to go outside. No elf is fully happy without nature. Another part was the odd feeling he was getting, the darkness arriving. But most of it, he realized, was feeling Aragorn's fingers moving against his.

"Well, we all must have our weaknesses... apparently you are mine."

It was supposed to be light-hearted, and it did sound that way, but deep down, Legolas realized just how true it was. He stopped pacing for a second, looked at the Ranger with eyes filled with doubt, and then shook his head just a slight bit. He needed to get whatever he was feeling under control.

"Very well... I shall guide you through this strange place, help you get your bearings. And together, we can learn anything new. This is the plan we shall follow."

He stopped and mock-glared at the human before stomping over to him and swatting him on the shoulder, but not hard. Playful, not actually annoyed.

"Perhaps you would prefer to take her place? You would be more than welcome... and you already know the elven dances I am to teach her. She is going to teach me to... waltz... whatever that is."

When the Elf moved, Aragorn fought back the sadness that swept through him at loosing contact. But it was better because the more he was with Legolas, the more he felt so confused and yet not. It just felt right and certainly touching him in the manner he had, felt more right than it should have.

At hearing those words, Aragorn turned away and nodded, hiding his eyes and hoping his voice sounded normal for him. "As perhaps you are mine, my friend." Again it was meant to be lighthearted, a jest.. but it didn't sound that way to his ears nor did it feel that way to his heart. He simply nodded at the plan that had been made.

When he felt the slap on his shoulder, Aragorn turned around, his dark eyes searching out, finding and holding the lighter ones of the Elf, and Aragorn had to swallow down the sudden urge to reach out, grab Legolas and pull him close to him. Pull him into his arms.He knew it was all joking and in fun and games, but there was something there.. and it was dangerous.

"Oh no. I know the dances and they were hard enough for me to learn. It should be fun expecting her to learn them as well. And the waltz? Not quite sure what that is my friend. But shall we get on to the exploring?"

He didn't want to suddenly. He wanted to stay here and though he spoke, Aragorn made no move to move toward the door nor to stop looking at Legolas.

He looked sharply at the human Ranger, but then shook his head once more. He was hearing things. Although, there had been the strange comments they had shared the other day, but that had just been playing in a new way, surely. Just because they were so relieved to see each other again.

"Well, thank you for telling me. Now, I can think of things to use against you. A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing in my hands..."

Though his tone was joking, his eyes were serious as he dropped down to his knees on to floor, and gazed into his friends eyes from this new position. He rested his hand lightly on Aragorn's knee as he looked up at him.

"You are quite good at them, surprisingly. And she seemed very agile, I wonder if she can learn them. Many humans could not handle them... but you always did manage to pull them off, despite your obvious limitations."

He looked startled for a moment, having forgotten that they were supposed to be exploring, and having lost himself in the human's eyes somewhere along the line. He tried to look away, but found it difficult.

"Yes... of course... we should go."

Aragorn shook slightly as Legolas dropped to his knees and touched one of his own. This was not something he had been expecting so any comments about the weakness thing were pushed out of his mind as he concentrated on this. His eyes never once left Legolas' the entire time.

"Yes well I had a good teacher..." Aragorn responded though something about his words sounded as if they had wounded him. And perhaps in a way they had.He was no longer concentrating on their conversation and this was not a good idea.

He wanted to help the Elf up but touching him right now would prove to be something of a disaster and right now.. Aragorn was not sure he should. Thankfully Legolas stood on his own and Aragorn quickly turned away and forced himself to the door.

"Let us go explore, Legolas.." His words sounded empty and forced but he had to push himself to the door and opened it, stepping out and waiting for Legolas.

He watched, a slightly sad look in his expressive dark eyes, as the human made his way to the door. He sighed, and then forced a smile to his lips. He hoped it was convincing.

The truth was, he didn't know what was going on. What these feelings were that kept coming up between him and his friend. Such odd conversations, such strange emotions. He didn't really know how to deal with it. Aragorn was his friend, nothing else. He was engaged. And human.

With another shake of his blond head, the elf headed over to the door, following the Ranger. He took one more look at the room, a perfect copy of a room one could find in Rivendell, and then stepped out. The door shut behind him and Aragorn firmly.
