"I wish I was Dalek. I think it would be great."

She sat on a sofa, feet up on the coffee table, and laptop resting on her thighs. A cord connected her wrist computer to the laptop, loading all kinds of files while she sifted through codes trying to reprogram a few of the features. Anything to keep her busy, and thankfully she'd been brought here with more then enough of her things to tinker with to at least keep her amused for a little while.

"I'd roll around the corridors, and cry "Exterminate!" And I will swivel my dome head around, and everytime you walk I will watch very carefully with my eye upon a stalk."

A dalek was one of the last things she'd want to be. A cockroach was preferable to those alien toe-rags. She liked the poem though, it was pretty funny. Ace and friends she'd served with had always come up with chants, poems, songs, anything to keep them entertained. Ways to lighten the mood between fighting so they didn't focus on how many friends they lost.

"And I will terrorise the cities. All the folk will scream and shout, and I will be invincible 'til my batteries run out."

She grinned as the right program opened on her screen, and cracked her knuckles before going to work. It'd been a while since she'd programmed anything, but what better time to refresh her memory? Not like she had anything better to do, and this mapping program might come in handy. Sort of a mapquest of the future. Typically she could use it, load information into a PDA or her holodeck to find her way around any city in any time. Unfortunately, the information in it had all of Earth's cities loaded in it, and was useless here. All she had to do though was make it so everywhere she went here was stored in the device's memory, and after another trip around the resort she'd have the whole thing mapped out. Then maybe she'd try going out into the desert, once she had this to help her find the way back.

"Ther-wait! No! Damn it. I didn't want to delete those...Three hundred cities. Gone." The brunette groaned, trying to bring back the files she'd only meant to put in back-up storage, but they were completely erased. Ace yawned and ran a hand through her hair, glancing at the wrist processor/watch, and taking note of the time. She'd heard of some kind of party later, and had every intention of going. A little fun, meet some new people, hopefully see Bones again...Right now though -- "I could use some coffee." She stated, glancing around in search of one of the golem things.

"Yeah. You're going to have to be careful. It's not the most exciting era, but some dangerous stuff happens now and then. Especially around Christmas...Never understood that -- why the holidays attract so much trouble." She shrugged. It didn't make much difference. Ace didn't really celebrate Christmas, and had no one to spend it with anyways.

"So Ianto, what's buggin' you?" The brunette may not be close to all that many people, but she could still tell when someone was feeling a little off...And he looked that way, especially at mention of the Doctor.

Ianto chuckled quietly. "You know, I don't understand that either. At least we know Christmas will almost always be eventful."

He put on his best bewildered look. "What do you mean?"

"You get a funny look about you whenever the Doctor is brought up." She pointed out, though still keeping up a friendly sort of smile. It wasn't all that surprising. You didn't actually have to meet the timelord to have mixed feelings about him, but it made her curious nonetheless. "What'd the skinny dolt do to get on your bad side?"

Honestly, she loved the Doctor to death, but that didn't mean she couldn't stand him a lot of the time. It was why she'd left him, a couple times in fact. Ace wouldn't fail to join up with him is he needed her help, but she doubted she would ever want to really travel with him again. This new regeneration was a lot more tolerable so far, but it was hard to tell after less then a day with him.

"It's... complicated. I've never really met him so it's nothing he's done against me... More so how he's treated a few people I care about. But then, I do have to thank him because without him, I wouldn't have met those people in the first place." Ianto paused for a moment, realizing just how true that statement was. Without the Doctor, he would never have met Jack but on a wider level, without the Doctor there would be no Torchwood. "All of them."

"How he's treated them..." She repeated. That didn't sound good. Ace had met the Doctor here, and he'd seemed a lot different. More immature, playful, sad, but different from the time lord she'd left. Though she supposed it was hard to tell how much of the old regeneration had stuck around from the short time they were together here. "That sounds a bit like my old Doctor. Couldn't have been too bad though if your friend, Jack, was still waiting for him."

She shrugged it off, and pulled her computer back up to toy with the files on her wrist processor. "Anyways, Cardiff in 2008..." Ace said, putting that in under a file labeled Torchwood that had other locations and time frames for other bases that she made a point to avoid after that first run in with the group. This one might be bit more accepting of a visit from her, as Jack was apparently another companion, but she wasn't going to seek them out if she didn't have to. "So, bet you get all manner of trouble there. That rift and all. Daleks, cybermen, sontarans...Have you ever seen a Chelonian? Those are weird as hell. Robotic-humanoid turtle things. Used to hate humans, thought we were parasites -- now they spend all their time arranging flowers." She laughed, it had been so long since she'd thought about those things, but it wasn't often she met someone who would listen and not think she was crazy.

Ianto resisted the urge to snort. "He was waiting for him because he had a... problem he felt only the Doctor could help him with," he stated, trying not to sound bitter. "In the end, the Doctor couldn't do anything so Jack wasted years of his life just waiting around for this man to show up and do nothing." Run away from him, too, Ianto added silently.

Ianto peered curiously at the wrist device. "What's that?" he asked, wondering if it was anything like Jack's. "I've seen Daleks and Cybermen," he admitted, keeping his tone neutral. "Heard of the Sontarans. Never seen a Chelonian. What with comes through the Rift, maybe one day I will. Everyday is definitely interesting when you're with Torchwood, though. I have to say, I much prefer and enjoy working in Cardiff than I did in London."

"Well, assuming he's the Jack I'm thinking of wasting a few years isn't that much of a problem for him." There were rumors. How could there not be? It wasn't every day you heard of a guy who couldn't die.

"It's a wrist processor. Saves my ass on a regular basis. I have all the locations of Torchwood, U.N.I.T, SpaceFleet, and other more rag-tag groups through time so I know who I can go to and who to avoid. Basic information on different aliens and people I've met. Maps of times and places I frequent. Stuff like that all stored on here that I can bring up on any computer. It also lets me interface with computers to take or alter information." She explained, as she pulled up a file on Chelonians.

"There is actually a small group of them living in the Amazon, but I wouldn't recommend going looking for them. They're docile enough now, but don't appreciate when humans stumble across their land." She learned that one the hard way. Granted, most of what she learned was through experience, and not always good experiences.

"As for the other two...I don't often see much of Cybermen. Daleks on the other hand are like cockroaches, I swear. By my time line there is a new Skaro in the twenty-fifth century, but it's always hard to tell what events are fixed and what isn't."
