Entry tags:aragorn, arrival, complete, day 9, legolas greenleaf

Who: Aragorn and Legolas
When: Early morning of day 9, just as the weather begins to pick up.
What: Aragorn's arrival
Where: The beach for starters
Rating: PG-13 for Naked Legolas and clearly a naked, drowned rat Aragorn!
Status:COMPLETE!

Despite the turn in events, Aragorn, had been successful in rallying the armies of Rohan and Gondor. In the back of his mind as he now sat atop his horse, Aragorn allowed his mind to wander back to the Elf, a man that the Ranger had began to think of as a friend. The sudden disappearance, was still a puzzle to Aragorn and Gilmi. Even the Dwarf was beginning to miss Legolas and their little friendly competitions in battle. Sighing he ran a hand through his hair. If the Elf had been taken or killed, then Aragorn vowed today he would get that revenge upon the enemy.

Soon he had to put that out of mind as he moved to the front of the great armies that were gathered and ready for battle. The plan was to distract Sauron so Frodo and Sam could get past the Black Gates and destroy the ring. Aragorn knew that this was truly the only way they could defeat the dark enemy. He had to focus, the rest he could deal with later.

It was time. It was time for Aragorn to adress the troops and to encourage them before the battle. He moved back and forth in front of them on horseback. His eyes were dark with focus and intent as he began his speech.

"Sons of Gondor! Of Rohan! My brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!"

Just as he finished the last word, things began to change and quickly. Aragorn had no idea what was happening.Things began to fade to black,or began to fade into the background completely. He felt light headed, dizzy and out of sorts. First it was him and his horse, everything else was gone now. At first, Aragorn tried to fight the complete darkness that threatened to take him,but it was too strong so it soon was able to do as it intended.

Something wet...something cold and wet fell upon Aragorn as he slowly started to stir. It took him a long time to realize it was rain, and to also gather that he was some place he had no idea where it was. All this made him come to very quickly and focus. His hands were on something grainy, rough. His fingers ran through it. Sand....?

Aragorn was quickly on his feet and looking around. He began to panic. Where was he? Where were the armies? Did Sam and Frodo make it in to destroy the ring? Did they defeat the enemy? His head was swimming with so many questions and thoughts. he was beginning to feel light headed again.

Well, this was definately an inconvienance, and that was putting it mildly. He never went anywhere without his bow. It was almost as much a part of him as his own arms were. Somehow, though, he'd managed to leave it somewhere. The last place he'd had it was before he'd gone swimming with Marcus the day before. He couldn't remember having it in his hands after that. He must have left it in the beachhouse.

He stepped out of his dorm building, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. As an elf, Legolas had a strong connection with nature. Here, everything was screaming at him that something was going to happen, that they were in for a spell of bad weather. If he was going to get his bow before he got soaked in rain, he would have to hurry.

He crossed through the foyer on the way through, and the blinking box caught his attention. He sighed softly and rolled his eyes. Poor person, whoever it was, to be arriving today. He figured he might as well collect them on his way through. So he picked up the key and slipped it in his belt pouch before heading out. The wind was picking up, and sand flew up, stinging his sensitive eyes.

It was a relief to get to the beachhouse, and even more of one when he saw his bow and quiver of arrows standing there, seemingly untouched. He would have never forgiven himself had he lost the gift of the Lady of Lothlorien. His relief was short-lived, though, because as soon as he stepped out of the small hut, he was nearly swept off his feet by a strong gust of wind.

Still, he had a job to do, and he had someone's room key. He took it out and looked at it thoughtfully, as if searching for some hint of where he was to look for the new arrival. His eyes were drawn to the inscription, the room number. It brought a disbelieving smile to his face. Whoever it was who had just arrived, they had the room right next door to his. What an odd coincidence!

He looked up, and the rain started all at once. It was not gradual, one moment it was totally dry, and the next he was drenched to the bone, and the rain was a thick curtain in front of his eyes. He never would have seen the person who was a mere 50 yard from him if it wasn't for his keep elven eyes. Maybe this was who he was looking for?

Slinging his bow on his back, but still within reach in case the person should prove hostile, Legolas made his way through the downpour towards the figure ahead of him. About 30 yards off, he stopped and squinted slightly. Something very familiar about the way the man was standing. He could tell it was a male, although the rain blurred out many more details.

Surely, though, there was something familiar in the way the man was standing, the curve of his shoulders, and the way he looked around, trying to peer through the rain? But... it was just wishful thinking, surely. He'd thought, yesterday, that the human Ranger Marcus had looked much like another human Ranger from another world. This must be the same thing.

By the time he was 20 yards away, he was starting to suspect he was wrong, and the person was his friend. By the time he was 15 yards away, his elven eyes could not be fooled by the rain. A smile formed on the lips of the elf, and he cried out in joy.

"Aragorn!"

It was like when Gandalf had been returned to them all over again. Only better, because he had been alone and now he wasn't anymore. Of course, he noted with his customary sense of humor, it was also quite a bit wetter here than it had been in Fangorn.

It didn't take him long to sprint those last few yards towards his friend, and every step he took forward made him more sure. This was his friend, the Ranger who was destined to be King of Middle Earth. He slowed and stopped in front of him, a smile still on his features.

"You're late. You look terrible."

They were the words he'd spoken to the human when he'd come back after being pulled over a cliff into raging water by a wolf. He wasn't sure how well the human, with his limited eyesight, could tell who he was, and he wanted there to be no doubt.

Aragorn was looking around. This land was so strange. He saw what he thought was movement but he was sure he was wrong. The rain was blinding him, it was starting to fall harder and his garments were sticking to him.Sighing he ran a hand over his hair, trying to figure this all out.

But again the movement had Aragorn looking up and trying to focus. A figure. And Aragorn thought he knew this person. It wasn't that he could make them out but it was just something inside. He moved closer then that figure spoke and Aragorn knew those words and that heavenly voice. No..There was no way.... this couldn't. His voice was filled with disbelieve and so soft when he spoke.

"Legolas....?!" Was he dreaming? Was the Elf really there? Where was here and how did Legolas make it here?So many questions.... He was trying to make sense of this. He realized he was moving closer and closer to the figure and the closer he got the more he knew this man was indeed Legolas. Aragorn felt relieve amongst worry about why he was here and not with the armies.

"Where? How...?" Taking a deep breath Aragorn got close enough to look into those eyes and began to get lost for a moment. "It is good to finally have found you,my friend. But where are we?"

He was recognized, and this brought a smile to his lips. He laughed, pure delight radiating from him, as he clapped the human, the only human whom he had ever counted among his friends, and the shoulder in a friendly greeting. Amazing... Aragorn looked just like he had when last Legolas had seen him, and yet, so different. There was an edge to the Ranger that hadn't been there before... and Legolas was suddenly keenly aware that he was standing in the presence of the man who was destined to be king over Middle Earth.

"You may find that it is rather complicated, my friend... but welcome to Mirage. I can explain, at least a little, but... perhaps not here?"

He should be horrified, he knew, to see the Ranger here. If he was here, on Mirage, then he wasn't on Middle Earth, and there would be no King. For the sake of his homeland, which he still loved, he shouldn't be this happy to see the man. But, he had been so lonely, more than he had realized until he saw the human in the driving rain.

"There is shelter nearby. A small hut is nearby, probably closest, or I can take you to the plaque and try to explain..."

He wasn't making much sense. But he couldn't seem to stop looking at this man, the one who made him feel that finally he wasn't alone anymore. He would leave it up to Aragorn to decide, either the big building or the small hut by the sea. Either way, they were reunited.

Aragorn was battle worn and tired. His worry and fear of what had happened to the Elf now standing in front of him had not helped. Relieve flooded him even when it should not have.Yes, he had found Legolas. But at a very important moment, Aragorn disappeared from the Armies and he needed to be there. It was important. But yet he couldn't help the fact that he was glad to be back with the Elf. Someone who actually meant a lot to him and one that Aragorn trusted with his life.

He smiled and placed a hand on Legolas' shoulder as he spoke and did the same to Aragorn then frowned as he tried to explain things to him. Mirage.....?What was Mirage? "I am afraid my friend that I am very much confused."

The rain began to fall harder, the wind picked up and Aragorn was not sure they would make it too far. The weather was horrible. A heavy frown creased his face as he gave this much thought. Then he smiled at Legolas and patted his shoulder gently.

"I believe, Legolas the hut would probably be the best option." He paused and gave the other man a once over to make sure he was unharmed. When Legolas appeared to be completely okay, Aragorn was truly relieved. "It truly is good to be back with you ,my friend."

A strong gust of wind nearly knocked the slender elf off his feet, and he clung to Aragorn's shoulder just to keep from being completely swept away. He nodded in agreement with the Ranger's comment. At this rate, they would be much safer in the shelter of the hut than trying to make it to the main building. He would just have to do his best to explain to his friend without the aid of the plaque.

"The hut it is, then."

Normally, he would have broken the hold at that point, but it was so good to have his friend there with him, he kept his hand on his shoulder. Not to mention that they were both being tossed around by the wind, and they had greater stability if they were together than apart.

Sand flew up, blown about by the wind, and making it even harder to see but Legolas was a very good tracker, and started leading them back the direction he had just come from. His sensitive eyes were narrowed into slits against the raging wind and rain, but he was sure he was going the right direction. Still, he felt a strong sense of relief and gladness when he saw the small beachhouse up ahead.

"Here, Aragorn!"

The wind was terrible and the visibility was getting worse and worse. Aragorn's hand left the slender shoulder of the Elf in order to wrap an arm around his slender waist to keep a good grip on Legolas and steadying himself.

He followed Legolas, knowing it was best to let his friend lead since he knew this place better, obviously. Aragorn nodded at the direction and began to lead them both there, relieved when they came under the shelter and protection of the small beach house.

Opening the door, Aragorn let his friend enter first and closed the door against the raging rain and wind. Aragorn shivered slightly as it was a little cold but not too bad. He looked at Legolas, still smiling softly at him.

"Now please tell me about this place and how we ended up here?"

Supporting each other, the Elf and the human finally made it the the small hut. Once they were inside, Legolas could finally stand up straight again, which he did, and look into the eyes of the human Ranger, which he also did. To him, it had been only a few days since he had last seen him, but it suddenly seemed like much longer.

"You have changed much... I would know what has been happening in Middle Earth since I was taken. But first, let me tell you what you seek to know."

He finally broke away from the human and walked over to the ledge, seating himself and running his fingers through his long, soaked blond hair. His bow, he hung to dry. The bow string was wrecked, he was sure of it, but at least the wooden part would be alright.

"We are in a place called Mirage, a planet, a whole new world. We've been taken, I know not why, perhaps because this planet is lonely. It is a guess that some have made. We are told we can never leave, but we will have clothes, food, shelter..." The elf smiled up at the tall human Ranger "And company. Aragorn... we are trapped, I believe."

But at least, if he was to be trapped, he was no longer alone. He had made many friends here, but Aragorn was the first person he'd seen from his own world. Aragorn, unlike everyone else, would understand when he spoke of things like Orcs, or Elrond, or the Valar. Aragorn knew the same stories he did, the same people. Suddenly, being trapped here didn't seem so bad.

Aragorn placed his sword on a small table within the hut and tried to shake off as much of the rain as he could. He looked around wondering what sort of supplies there was and for wood to build a fire. It was sort of cold and he wasn't sure how long they would be here. But all that could wait.

Aragorn found a place to sit and studied Legolas intently as he spoke. He told himself he didn't want to miss a piece of information but that was not all. He didn't want to take his eyes off of his friend nor blink for fear if he did Legolas would disappear again. And while Aragorn knew the armies needed him, he could not loose Aragorn again. The Elf meant to much to him for this to happen.

"I promise my friend I will tell you what you wish to know and what I myself know of what is going on in Middle Earth."

Aragorn knew how much this all meant to both of them.It was a mission they both shared and Aragorn had felt sad to know he would have to see it to an end without the Elf. Now it seemed from what he was hearing they would both not see the end of it.

He listened as intently as he was watching Legolas and frowned. He did not understand this. Not at all. "There is no escape? No going back to where we came from?" Once more a heavy frown settled upon his lips. There was so much that needed to be done at home.... how could this planet take themboth from that?

After a long time of thinking and trying to once more piece it together, Aragorn spoke softly, almost distantly."At least if we are trapped at least we are not trapped alone..."

Belatedly, Legolas remembered the towels he and Marcus had dried off with when they'd been there yesterday, and he reached over and grabbed the whole stack. Setting them on the ledge where he and the Ranger both sat, he took the top one off the stack and started drying himself off. It was pointless, though, with his clothing still on. They dripped water onto his skin as fast as he could wipe it off.

Oh well. There was a simple answer for that. Without even really thinking twice about it, the elf slipped the buckle of his belt free, and hung his knives carefully on a hook. Then, he slipped his tunic over his head. Soon, he was naked, and his soaked clothes were hung all over the hut to dry. That done, he sighed and turned back to his friend.

"I will not lie... I suspect we are trapped here forever. Some have far fetched plans to escape, but I do not believe it possible. Not unless we can all sprout wings and fly away."

Though he tried to keep his tone light-hearted and happy, which was never a really big challenge for him, he was saddened by the thoughts that were obvious on the Ranger's face. He was a King, now without a kingdom. Far away, farther than either of them could hope to ever be again, a war was being fought and neither of them would have a part in it.

"No, my friend. We are not alone. And... I think you will like some of the people here. Some of them, I have made friends with. There is one that I have met that I did not much care for, but everyone else is charming."

Aragorn grabbed for a towel and wrapped it around his shoulder and looked back to Legolas and blinked when the other man began to undress. But then again this was Legolas so it truly didn't bother him. He just looked away. After all the man was just as soaked as he was, but well was a lot more modest.

As Legoals spoke once more his mind went back to their home. What must be going on now? Were Frodo and Sam able to make it in and destroy the ring? All these thoughts swam in his head.At hearing that Legolas had ran into someone that he did not like, which was quite odd. He wondered though if it was anything like the Elf's odd friendship with the Dwarf. He chuckled thinking of what Gilmi would be saying if he knew that they were together without him.

"I find it odd that you find someone you can't get along with, Legolas." Then Aragorn looked at him, smiling as he nodded then frowned.

"I wonder now what happens back on Middle Earth. There is a battle going on... they need us both."

He quickly, and much more effectively, dried himself off and then started working on his hair. He was fairly certain this building must be heated, because though it was stormy outside, it really was quite warm inside. Enough that, even slightly damp, he was quite comfortable being completely naked. He'd long since stopped wondering about why humans didn't simply unclothe when it would be more convienant to do so. It was just the way humans were, and Aragorn was still a human.

"I know... but the man with the strange eyes was quite unpleasant. I almost was forced to put an arrow through his head. I probably would have done so, had it not been the case that... oh. One more thing you should know. Here, no one can kill. It is not allowed."

He tossed a towel into a nearby bin for that purpose, and leaned back against the wall, quite comfortable. But Aragorn's words had him sitting bolt upright again. After all, he had been involved in the war before he'd been taken, and had a keen interest in it.

"Tell me, Aragorn... tell me everything that has occured since I was taken. What happened when you went to the Paths of the Dead? Did they join you? When were you taken? Are you King yet?"

The questions came out all at once, in a rapidfire way, as if the elf couldn't tell which one he wanted to be answered first.

Aragorn simply nodded at the news of no killing and the man with quite odd eyes. He would stay away and well Aragorn hated to kill unless loeft with no choice.

"Such strange rules for a strange place." He mused out loud then the frown was once more back upon his lips and heavily as his brow furrowed.

The Elf had missed much and there was much to tell. And his woorry for the armies and their friends was back once more. The questions came quickly but Aragorn was able to catch them and he sighed softly, looking at his friend, not at all concerned about his naked state.

"I was so concerned for you when I woke up that morning and you were gone. But I carried on with the plan, making a vow it would not be in vain. They joined us in our cause with the promise they would be free when it was over. I was taken just as we were to march on the Black Gates."He frowned hoping Frodo and Sam were able to destroy the ring.

"I was taken just after my speech..."Aragorn paused and sighed softly. " I hope my friend they were able to carry on without me..."

He wasn't surprised, really, that the no killing rule had not bothered his friend. Like himself, he killed out of necessity, not because he liked to do so. He reached out to check on his clothing, which was still damp, and then turned his full attention back to the Ranger. It was a story that held much interest to the elf, and he listened intently.

"The rules are strange, but I suppose that the planet does not wish to waste energy bringing people here only to have them killed. It is no big thing, of course... except that I really would have enjoyed killing the arrogant, rude, ill-mannered human..."

He stopped himself, realized he was coming very close to ranting, and changed the subject back to the more important topic of the war on Middle Earth. He sighed when he heard what the Ranger had to say.

"So, the war is not over. But tell me... what came over you that you would think to march on Mordor itself? Madness..." Although, of course, there was an approving look in his dark eyes at the thought. It was exactly the sort of plan he, himself, likely would have counselled had he been there. "I find myself... worried, and not glad, that you were taken away at such an important time. Middle Earth needed it's King... but I cannot say with all honesty that I am not glad to see you here."

Aragorn laughed at Legolas' admission that he would have enjoyed killing whoever this human was.He knew that was a lot coming from the Elf.he never killed because he wanted to just like Aragorn. "My Legolas not many can get to you like that my friend. I am sure Gilmi would be sore to know he missed another getting a rise out of you."

Aragorn stood, his shirt sticking to his skin was annoying him to no end and it was warmer here than before. So he peeled his shirt off laying it out flat to dry and sighed softly.

"You know me... I like to do the impossible." Aragorn smiled briefly before going back to his frown." We had to come up with something to assure we could destroy ring."

Aragorn sighed and ran a hand through his wet hair nodding."My friend, I had no choice in leaving. I wish I was back there.." But then he smiled saying softly. "But at least I have once more found you, Legolas."

The Ranger's comments had the elf bursting out into musical-sounding laughter, and his slender body relaxed back against the wall once more. He was relaxed around Aragorn in a way he wasn't really around anyone else. But then, despite the fact that they'd only really met a very short time ago, at least as elves reckoned things, he trusted the human. They had been through a lot together.

"The son of Gloin the Dwarf has never irritated me as much as this human did. I would say that we did not have a highly successful meeting. And that, my King, is an understatement."

The title was given with a smile and a nod, and the elf watched as the human rose to his feet, stripping off his shirt. His smile widened. At least Aragorn was seeing sense. And it must mean he was feeling more comfortable, since he never would have started taking clothing off if he wasn't.

"Oh! And now you are mimicking me and speaking in understatements. Long have I heard tales of Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and heard of his daring in battle." He laughed teasingly up at the stoic Ranger, enjoying himself. The teasing was just like they had done around the campfire for many months. It felt good. But suddenly, he was serious. "But you do not know... if the One Ring of Sauron was, in fact, destroyed?"

He frowned, wishing that the planet had waited to bring Aragorn to him until after the war was over, so that he could have more complete news. Which was a bit disloyal, because after the war, Aragorn would have a kingdom to run. He shouldn't be wishing him here at all.

"Nor I, my friend... I would much rather be among the trees of Mirkwood or even Fangorn. Gimli will say I left only because I wished to avoid travelling to his precious caves, as I promised him I would. I am disgraced, having not kept my word." He had a dry sort of sense of humor at times, and it was obviously coming out now. "I am very glad to see you, son of Arathorn."

The sound of the Elf's laughter was truly music to his ears. God this felt so good to be back around Legolas but oh how he wished he knew what was going on back home. He needed to know that they had been able to succeed. That this had not all been for nothing. But soon he was laughing again as he thought about the bantering between Elf and Dwarf on their journeys. It was always amusing to be a witness too.

It was just like many other moments with them, bantering and making fun of the other in many ways.Chuckling softly at Legolas making fun of him,Aragorn sighed softly and shrugged gently.

"I suppose now that I am not there, the Middle Earth will be without a King but that is the least of my worries. I truly hope Frodo and Sam were able to destroy the ring and defeat Sauron."

Once more Aragorn paused and looked at Legolas, his leggings were sticking to him but he refused to get naked so he would deal with it. He sat down once more and leaned back in his seat thinking. What would happen now? Was legolas right? Were they truly trapped here? At least he was with one who knew him. Who truly knew who he was and understood him. he raised a hand to rub at his temple. It had been a long day but something was coursing through him causing a slight bit of confusion when he looked at the Elf

"I thought that Elrond had finally gone quite mad when he assigned a halfling to bear the One Ring, but after travelling with him, I have decided otherwise. Frodo will get the ring where it needs to go, my friend, and if he fails, Sam will show his worth. I would wager... I know not, perhaps my bow!"

It was, of course, a perfectly safe bet to make, since chances were good neither of them would ever know if Sam and Frodo had destroyed the ring. Otherwise, he never would have brought his precious bow into it. However, he did honestly believe that there was not no chance that the Hobbits would succeed. Stranger things had definately been known to happen, he mused as he looked over at his friend. Like them being here at all, for one.

"Middle Earth will suffer for lacking you as King, however... their loss is my gain, since you are now here with me. Aragorn! Do you wish to see something very odd?"

Without waiting for a response, he rose to his feet and walked over to the TV set in the wall. He was sure it was amaze his friend as much as it had him the first time he'd seen one. Pressing the large button, the screen flickered to life, and Legolas stepped out of the way so his friend could see it.

"It is not tiny people trapped in there, as I first thought. Although, to be honest, I do not fully understand what it is. But it is rather fascinating, isn't it?"

On the screen, the person being filmed talked about water safety, saying things that once more had Legolas laughing. He had learned these things while practically still an infant, and couldn't imagine why anyone would need to be told. Always inclined to be merry, this trait was increased by the sheer joy of having his friend around.

Aragorn was sure that at some point before the Fellowship was broken apart, that they had all questioned several times and different things about this journey. Would they be able to succeed? Would they all make it back alive? It was a journey designed to test and stretch them each thin. Make them prove worth yet at the same time acknowledge they already were worthy. It was always confusing to Aragorn why they were each selected.

But now, being here with Legolas, knowing that the two of them had been pulled away from this very important moment in their world's history and in its time of need, made it hard for Aragoron to focus completely on Legolas at times. He would go far away only to come back, but never skipped a beat which was a good thing. He didn't want Legolas worrying about it too much especially not as much as he was.

"Well my friend,I am sure that they will both do what was set out to do.They are both brave souls, worthy of carrying out the task." It was true. Aragorn had the utmost faith in the Hobbits and in the armies. He knew that though they would be confused, they would still carry on with the task at hand rather he was there or not.

Raising a brow, Aragorn watched Legolas with growing curiosity as he went over to a rather large black box and even he could not hold back his shocked gasp when Legolas pushed a button and the screen flashed. He wondered at this amazing creation as he focused and became mesmerized almost but the person on the screen giving lessons on something both he and the Elf already knew.

He smiled as he watched Legolas. This was why the Elf had always captivated Aragorn almost. The Elf despite his age and wisdom ,always had a child like quality about him that aragorn found endearing and almost cute for lack of a better term. The Elf was always able to put Aragorn in great spirits despite the situation they might be in.

"What odd creations and contraptions this planet has. Is there more?" He asked his friend, pure curiosity in his voice and despite it all,all he kept thinking was how glad he was to have found the Elf even by accident or circumstance. And how good it truly felt to be here with him.

He could tell that there was quite a lot going on in that head of Aragorn's. Sure, he was a human, but that didn't mean he was stupid. In fact, Aragorn had been the first human that Legolas had ever had time for. The other human, Boromir, had been amusing in his own way, but nothing like as deep as the Ranger was. It wasn't unusual for Aragorn to become lost in thought, and it was quite understandable now. Legolas had had a couple of days to adjust but this was all new to his Ranger friend. He didn't take it personally, and only wandered back to the ledge he'd been perched on before.

"Sam and Frodo... Gandalf trusted them, and even if I did not at first, I do now. It will be difficult for them but... he would not have trusted them for no reason. There is yet hope."

Seeking to give comfort, the naked elf leaned over and rested a hand on the human's bare shoulder. He smiled at him, hoping that his mood would somehow transfer from himself to the Ranger. Of course, it wasn't likely to happen. Aragorn was a very stern, grim sort of man most of the time. And moreso now that he was lost in thoughts about a war he no longer had any control over. When he saw Aragorn smile back at him, it made him happy. Sometimes, every so often, he could make the stoic human smile, and it always touched him deeply that he could do that.

"This is a mere part of it. There are things here that you never could have even dreamed of, my friend, and I will show you everything." His eyes widened as something occured to him, and the smile on his lips grew bigger. "Aragorn! Your room key... I had forgetten until right now..." He leaned over and rummaged through his belt pouch, hanging nearby. Finally, he retrieved a key and handed it to his friend. "The room number... you are lodged right beside me, my friend!"

Aragorn was often thought of as too thoughtful, too stubborn and grim. He had a wry sense of humor and hardly ever cracked a smile. And when a situation like this came up, where something very important was taking place, it was hard for him to get his thoughts anywhere but there. In this instant with the war going on in Middle Earth and the fact he was not there and he no longer had a place in that part of his people's history it bothered him. Not for the glory but because this was very important to him. What if the armies failed? What if Sam and Frodo failed? Sighing softly, Aragorn once more ran a hand through his hair.

Upon hearing Legolas' words and feeling his hand upon his shoulder, Aragorn actually relaxed and felt some of the tension and worry go away. Not many people could ever get Aragorn to relax nor to smile even a little. But Legolas was one of the very few. In fact sometimes, the Elf's mood very well could rub off on Aragorn.

"Let us just hope not all this was done in vain, my friend." His reply to the happenings of Middle Earth was almost distant. His thoughts were still there and Aragorn hoped they would be able to finish the task at hand without him and Legolas. He let it go and left it in the hands of fate. The destiny of his people and Middle Earth was out of his hands. He didn't like it, but there was no choice.

Raising a brow when Legolas mentioned his room, Aragorn looked at the Elf and that smile on those lips and he wanted to laugh. Legolas had more time to deal with being in a new place. He had the time to know what was going on and to accept that there was nothing that could be done. And it showed as Legolas was relaxed and his happy self. It was rubbing off on Aragorn. Or was it the fact that his room was so close to the one of his friend? He wasn't sure.

That very small thought was already leading down a dangerous path and Aragorn could not go there. Shaking his head of his thoughts, Aragorn smiled at his friend again and nodded. "Well my friend, this is truly good news. At least I won't be loosing track of you this time."

He frowned slightly as he felt the human's shoulder under his hand. It was stiff with tense muscles, and he knew there was no way that could be comfortable. Slowly, he slid around behind the other man and crouched there between his back and the wall, keeping the one hand on Aragorn's shoulder.

"Nothing was done in vain, Aragorn. Not what the Hobbits are doing, nor what Gandalf did, nor even what you and I did before we were taken to this life of comfort and luxury. Remember that, my friend. Nothing was in vain. It all meant something."

As he spoke, he put his other hand on the human's other shoulder, and began to softly knead the tension out of them. Hopefully, the human wouldn't mind. After all, they were friends, even if this was something new that they'd never done before. But Aragorn was having a hard time adjusting, he knew it, he could tell. He wanted to help. His hands were strong from pulling back his bow, and they quickly located and worked on knots that were surely causing the human discomfort.

"Yes, my friend. It seems we are on another adventure together. I think that even if I did get pulled away from you again, you would likely follow me. Admit it, you can not cope without my excellent advice and companionship..."

He laughed lightly as his fingers pressed into the human's bare shoulders, trying to lift his spirits and relax his muscles at the same time. Maybe it would take time for Aragorn to truly accept that they were trapped here, but he could at least help.

The past, the war, the hobbits, what was going on,it had left his mind the moment Legolas shifted behind him. And even more so when Legolas placed his other hand on his stiff and tense shoulder. He had to bite back a moan when the Elf began to move his hands. It felt too good and immediately he relaxed against Legolas. The man was his friend and someone that the Ranger trusted 100 percent. No they had never done this, but he knew Legolas was one of the very few that could read him. Closing his eyes, he also knew Legolas would be the reason Aragorn accepted being here and that they were trapped.

"Do you suppose,Legolas that it was fate that brought us together once more?" His voice was curious and a little sad as he thought back to a time where he was sure he would never see the Elf again and the way it had made him feel. Then the way he felt despite it all at seeing him again.

Being relaxed had Aragorn nodding and not even hesitating to answer truthfully though he did add a bit of a tease at the end of his words."Of course I would someone has to keep you out of trouble my friend."

Aragorn laughed and leaned further back, letting out a sigh of content at feeling himself relax almost completely. He kept his eyes closed hoping the other man did not pull away. It felt too good and almost right."Tell me Legolas, what has your time here been like so far? Other than the people you have met."

The elf was glad he'd taken the chance when Aragorn almost immediately began to relax under his touch. He continued to knead the muscles softly, pressing down with slightly more pressure on the spots that needed it, but otherwise, just trying to relax him. He leaned forward, his bare chest pressing against Aragorn's as he peered around the human's shoulder and looked into his face as best he could.

"Fate, or the will of the Valar?" He laughed again. "Either way, it seems that you have not been successful at getting rid at me. And, alas! I am stuck with your companionship. Oh, that the planet had brought Elrond or Saruman instead of the human Ranger Aragorn!"

He was obviously teasing, as he often did. Even when he'd first met the human Ranger, he'd said things like that to him. It was just how he was. People who were around him long enough got used to the gentle teasing. He only laughed when Aragorn got him back with his own teasing.

"Oh, very clever! You are living proof of the fact that humans do, in fact, have a sense of humor! Even the stoic Rangers of the north are not entirely humorless..."

As the human leaned forward, he let his fingers slide down from his shoulders onto his bared back, pressing his fingers into the tense muscles further down. His chin, he leaned on the Ranger's strong shoulder so they could better talk.

"It has been strange, I will freely admit. I went rafting with a group of people that had never been before, and they did not know what they were doing. That was fun, though... and the rooms here, you can make them look however you wish. All you must do is concentrate, and it appears as you want it! There are many strange things here, Aragorn, that most others appear to take for granted. I met a Wizard the other day, like Gandalf! But he came from a place that magic was much more common, I believe... and I met another Ranger who has befriended a woman with pink hair. He was called Marcus, and he reminded me of you... we went swimming with Dolphins." He frowned, trying to remember what else he had done. "Oh. And I was followed to my room by a strange man in a hat, who kissed me and hugged me. I think that is all... I have had days unlike any I have had previously in my life."

It was honestly a good thing that he had been brought here in a way. No one else would ever understand the Elf. He had been around him a while and he still had a time understanding himat times.

Smirking ,Aragorn decided to rile the Elf up. Yes he had a sense of humor but well he didn't show it very often. As he began his tirade, Aragorn began to make snoring sounds. Honestly,Aragorn had never been playful before. But he was so relaxed he just gave into it.He continued to pretend to sleep until legolas began to go into his tales of the people he had met.

It was the last that had Aragorn frowning not sure as too why. It was not like Legolas was anything more than a friend. So why did it bother him so? Shrugging Aragorn sat up and turned his eyes on the Elf and smiled softly as he pulled away."Thank you... I actually don't feel as tense now my friend."

Legolas blinked disbelievingly at his human friend before pulling away and just staring at him with wide eyes. Clearly, he hadn't expected such a response from the normally stern and grim Aragorn, and it took his brain a few seconds to catch up. So, for quite a few moments, he simply sat there and looked at his friend with an expression somewhat similar to a deer caught in the headlights of a car.

Finally, though, a smile twitched at the corners of his lips, and suddenly, he was laughing. Not that this was unusual for the elf. He was nearly always laughing about something. But this, he actually had a hard time controlling. It was just so unexpected! Shaking his head, laughing so hard that tears actually formed in his eyes, he stood up and checked on his clothes.

"Well done, for a human."

The clothing was relatively dry, so he started pulling it on, quickly dressing himself again. Curious about the weather, he looked outside through a window. Nothing had changed, nor did it look to him like the storm would abate anytime soon. Finally, he turned around to face his friend.

"The storm has a beauty all of it's own, does it not? And yet, we cannot stay here forever. We are going to have to brave the weather again. Which means, I fear, that you must put on your shirt."

A mischievious smile, and the elf turned around to look back out the window. It was so rainy it would be a challenge to even find the main building, but he and Aragorn were both superb trackers and he was sure somehow they would manage.

It was not very often that one got something over on the Elf.Especially not Aragorn as he normally never tried. But this time, breaking his normal, calm and stoic posture was worth it to hear that laughter ringing in the room almost as if it were music. Not that Legolas didn't laugh often, because he did.But this was different because it was something he had done to make it happen. Odd that it meant that much to him.

"I learned a few things from our travels,my friend." Aragorn spoke as he sat up,smiling at the Elf as he stood. The weather was raging outside and Aragorn had a feeling it was only going to get worse. But he and Legolas could weather it, they had been through so much worse than this already.

As the Elf began to get dressed, Aragorn stood and went to retrieve his shirt glad that it was dry. After once more getting dressed, Aragorn grabbed for his sword and replaced in its holder upon his belt.

"It's a true beauty and don't sound so disappointed about me having to put my shirt back on,my friend." Aragorn smirked before going back to semi seriousness."Well my friend now is as good as time as any to make a run for it."

As Legolas dressed himself, he glanced over at Aragorn who was doing the same. Giving him a small, enigmatic smile, he strapped his knives around his waist, and grabbed for his bow that had been drying on the wall. His clothing was mostly dry, but he knew that wasn't going to last for very long.

He had the same thought as his good friend did, that now was the best time to run to the main building. There was no sense in waiting here any longer, and the way the wind was wailing around the small hut, he had trouble imagining how it could withstand it for very long. They'd best be out of there before it was blown right into the ocean. As much as he'd enjoyed swimming with Marcus, he doubted it would be the same experience in a storm like this.

"Shall we, my friend? I think I will run to the building our rooms are in. Follow as you can." With one more look over his shoulder, he raised an eyebrow before pushing open the door and almost being knocked off his feet by a gust of wind. "Perhaps, when we get there, your clothing will be wet again and you will be forced to remove your shirt again."

With that mysterious comment, the elf winked at his friend, not really sure why he'd said something like that. Or perhaps, he knew exactly why he had. But either way, he darted out into the wind and rain, sprinting as best he could towards the building that housed them both.

Aragorn finished redressing himself and looked at Legolas. This was going to be a challenge seeings as how the wind was picking up harder now, throwing sand around and making visibility even worse. The rain was coming down hard and fast. Beginning to blur the line between beach and ocean as the waves began to ride further and further up the shore. But while, Aragorn was human, he was still a great tracker so with Legolas leading him he would be able to find his way.

He had just made it to the door when Legolas threw the comment his way. It had the Ranger stopping in his tracks and raising a brow then eventually staring at the back of the Elf. It took him a few minutes to shake himself from his thoughts and wonderment of why the Elf had said it, to realize that Legolas was already running to get toward the building that would house them. He made a mental note to question the Elf later.

Taking a deep breath, steadying him for the run ahead, Aragorn stepped off the porch and into the driving rain and winds. Immediately Aragorn was soaked from head to toe, the wind throwing his hair and his body about carelessly and the rain making his hair stick to his face and neck. By the time he got to his room he was sure he would be bringing half the rain back with him. His body began to tremble as the cold began to sink into his skin right down to the bones. But he didn't think about it. He managed, quite easily to catch up to the Elf, flashing him a smile as they made it to the building that housed them. Seeking shelter under the awning of the building before looking at the key Legolas had given him, Aragorn looked at the soaking wet Elf and laughed.

"I believe my friend we should retreat to our rooms before we catch our deaths of cold." The comment the Elf had said earlier was back in his mind so with a smirk, Aragorn looked at Legolas before adding. "I believe you were also right in the matter that I am going to need to take off my shirt and it would appear my leggings too."

It was cold, and wet, and windy, but the elf didn't waver for a second as he pushed open the door to the dormitory building they were both housed in. Though water dripped from his clothing and hair, he wasn't shaking. He didn't really feel the cold, not in the same way humans do. Even while on the cruel mountain Caradhras, he'd been the only one who had never been in any danger of freezing. Him, and probably Gandalf, too.

He stood back to let the Ranger go in first, and followed him in. Aragorn was in no better shape than he was, he suspected, and was probably even worse off. He knew the human didn't have the same lack of regard for the cold that he did. But it did sort of amuse him, seeing Aragorn with his hair hanging down around his face. He looked sort of like a drowned rat.

"Follow me, I shall show you where our rooms are... and then, we will both be at liberty to take our clothing off to get warm and dry once more."

One more, that enigmatic smile crossed the elven features, and he gave the human a bit of a strange look before turning back around and heading through the hallways, now familiar to him from use. Once there, he stopped and turned back to his friend. It really was good to see him again. It would have been good to see anyone from his world, but the human Ranger was especially welcome. Though they were very different in some ways, they were also very similiar. Not that that particularly accounted for the comments they'd been tossing back and forth. About that, he was fairly clueless. It was a relief, though, to have Aragorn here, that much was certain. Maybe that had nothing to do about it.

"Well, then, we have a decision to make, my drowned rat friend. Are we going to your room or mine? Or is this where we part?"

He frowned a little at the last words, not really ready to give his friend up now that he'd found him again. But if Aragorn needed the time, he would give it to him. He knew the human liked to think about things, and maybe he just wanted time alone. There would be time in the days ahead, he knew, to show his friend everything he wanted to, the wonders of the place they had been brought to. He was an elf. There was no need to hurry. He would try to be patient.

Aragorn was shaking harder by the time he finally entered the building. There seemed to be a rush of cold air that greeted him first. But soon he was starting to feel a slight bit of heat. Moving a hand, the Ranger attempted to remove his hair that was matted to his face, but it was to no avail. Giving up he looked to his friend and raised a brow at his comment.

The Ranger was not sure where these comments that they were tossing back and forth to each other were coming from. Sure, they had joked around before. Or more correctly, Legolas threw barbs and Aragorn pretended to be offended and stern. Though deep inside he just wanted to laugh. And sometimes in private, when it was just the two of them, just like earlier, Aragorn would give in. He would allow a different side of himself to show but only to this Elf. He seemed to be able to be himself around Legolas, no matter who his self was at the time. But this, this seemed different. Almost dangerous, yet at the same time there was something else that Aragorn could not name.

"It would seem that, taking them off will be in order. However since I didn't exactly plan this, I am afraid that I have nothing with me to change into." Again, Aragorn had no idea how this all worked. He was taken in the middle of a battle for God's sake. Plus maybe he would need to go off in search of something and that would probably, hopefully divert his train of thoughts to going to seeing Legolas naked again. Dangerous, indeed. Yet also interesting.

The thought of leaving the company of his friend, didn't exactly please Aragorn. He spent many a night agonizing over what had happened to the impish Elf and now they were reunited and it was almost as if Aragorn was afraid. Afraid that if he left Legolas, the Elf would once more disappear or this was a dream. Or even an affect of a battle wound that any minute he would come from this dream and realize that he was in the middle of the battle field. Telling himself it was just to keep an eye on the other man so he didn't go disappearing again, Aragorn raised a wet and shaking hand to place it on the shoulder of the Elf.

"I am afraid my friend, that I must keep you within my sight just a bit longer. Don't want you disappearing again." Then he paused and said thoughtfully, this had been an afterthought but also true. " I also need to know that this is real and not some dream."

He frowned thoughtfully as he looked at his companion, who was no more wet than he himself was, but much colder. Likely, if he let him go off on his own, he would not take care of himself, and end up with one of those illnesses that seemed the plague humans. So while Aragorn was unwilling to let him go out of his sight, Legolas was equally unwilling. He laughed once more as he let his eyes roam over the human Ranger, unable to resist the urge to tease him.

"It is just as well, since I also have no desire to let you leave my sight. After all, you would likely end up ill. Damp, cold, and I could easily picture you deciding today would be an excellent day to practice your archery skills, in case you ever need them in a storm in the future."

He pushed the door to his room open, thinking that would be the best bet. After all, Aragorn didn't know how things worked here, he didn't know he could control how his room looked, or what it produced. Later, he would show him, but right now he needed to get the human warm. He entered his room and looked around with a thoughtful look on his face. The woodland clearing was beautiful, but not suited for warming someone up. He concentrated, and the forest faded away. In its place was a fair copy of Elronds house in Rivendell. It would be familiar to the human, he thought, and would also be warm and comfortable.

His tree bed had turned into a wide, soft elven style resting place, for elves do not truly sleep but they do need rest every day. He hooked the blanket off the bed, which he was pleased to note was very warm looking, and holding it in his arms, he turned around to look at his Ranger friend.

"There are ways to get you warm, if you would just take off your clothes so that I may show you..."

Another one of those strange comments they'd been throwing back and forth! Normally, Legolas insulted the human, he didn't do... whatever it was he was doing. But he was so pleased to see him here, to finally not be alone, and it had changed things somehow. Of course, he didn't mean it the way it sounded. He would simply wrap the human in the blanket to warm him. Aragorn was, after all, in love with and commited to the Evenstar, Arwen.

Still, he had to admit to himself, this was a fun game to play. Perhaps dangerous, but he'd never shied away from danger.

Aragorn had to smile and chuckle to himself at the Elf.Truthfully he knew the Ranger quite well. And Aragorn though he would never show it would be fascinated enough by this place to ignore the weather and the fact that he could possibly get sick. If he wasn't already. he was still trembling. When it was decided without so much speaking that they would be retiring to Legolas' room,Aragorn followed him once the door was opened.

"You are right my friend. I often times forget my limitations as a human. That is why I must keeo you around to remind me." There was laughter in his words and within his eyes as he walked in further. His eyes took in the room around him and Aragorn was amazed.

"You were right in the room being whatever you need it to be."His eyes danced around the room taking in every aspect of it, noting how this would indeed be fitting of his Elfin friend. Then his eyes grew wide as he watched the room turn into something strangely familiar and yet still seemingly out of place. And all before his eyes. He was amazed and in wonderment.

"another way you were not kidding." He smiled as he looked at his friend.he was grateful that the Elf was trying to make him comfortable."Thank you my friend."

He looked down at himself, water dripped from his clothing and they clung quite uncomfortably to his body. he raised a hand, once more attempting to peel his hair from his face only making a little progress. The same with trying too peel his clothing from his person. His brow raised as another of those dangerous yet interesting barbs was tossed his way.

Raising his head he looked at the Elf,noting the blanket within his hands and smiled, nodding his head but saying nothing more. He was soaked,he was human and prone to illnesses, they were within Legolas' room not his own and he was comfortable enough around the Elf to remove these clothes that were quite uncomfortable now.

Peeling his shirt from his body and over his head, Aragorn looked at Legolas. "Where my friend should I place the wet garments." He then gave pause, placing the shirt on a near by table for now as he began to work on his leggings."You my friend might not realize the cold, but perhaps you would be more comfortable out of those clothes then we can talk about you showing me those ways to keepwarm."

Of course he knew how it sounded. It was another strange comment. He knew it might be wrong,he did indeed have Arwen within his heart. But he hadn't thought of her.In fact he was shocked yet not to realize that his mind had been occupied by the war, destroying the ring, Legolas' going missing and worried for his well being. In fact she had been gone from his mind for quite sometime. In fact he had not even thought of her while he reunited with Legolas, until just now. But it was only a moment and almost an afterthought.

He peeled his leggings down his legs, thankful for the warmth that seemed to hit him once the cold clothing was gone. he stood there before the Elf, naked as he moved to grab the blanket.

Legolas raised his hands to his hair that, while wet, was still perfectly groomed. It was an elven thing, no matter what was going on around them, even in the midst of battle, their hair looked amazing. He squeezed some water out of it, and then started working on his tunic. It was slow going, though, with the blanket still in his hand. So he tossed it to Aragorn, once the human was naked, and then worked on getting his own damp clothing off.

"Yes, well, anytime you need reminders of the limitations of the human race, I would be only too happy to provide that service to you. You're all ugly, uncouth, rude barbarians, and..." He leaned over and sniffed at the other man before smirking. "You smell foul, as well. Still, I suppose you cannot help it, and I like you despite all that."

Again, it was the sort of comment that Legolas would pretty much only make to someone that he was close enough to that they would know he was joking. There was a merry twinkle in his eye that he was sure Aragorn could read easily. And just to make sure he knew it was a joke, he laughed as he began stripping off his own clothing.

"The clothes you may place anywhere you wish, for this is not a room I am familiar with. You saw the choice I made in regards to my room. I will likely change it back later, so I care little for where you put your clothing."

To demonstrate, he flung his shirt randomly away from him, and it landed in a damp little heap near the wall. The rest of his clothing got no more reverence, but of course, he knew that new clothes would be provided when he needed them. He was in no hurry for that, though. The only things he was remotely careful with were his bow and quiver of arrows, which he hung to dry, and his knives, which he kept nearby. He had recently been in a war, after all, and old habits die hard. Especially with elves. Aragorn was no threat to him, of course, but anything else could happen.

He'd already started to peel his clothing off when Aragorn had made the suggestion, and it caused another smile to come to his lips. It was pretty much inevitable that he would respond in exactly the way he did, as he turned and started walking across the room towards his Ranger friend. He was nude, but not at all concerned about that fact.

"So eager to get me out of those garments... your concern is quite touching. Tell me, Elessar, did you miss me when I was taken?"

He stopped in front of the human and reached out for him. At the last minute, though, he stopped himself from his apparent course of hugging him, and instead, straightened the blanket he had wrapped around him, which had begun to slip off one of his shoulders.

"Are you still cold?"

Aragorn took the blanket from the other man and placed it around his shoulders, wrapping it around his chilled body. But immediately he felt warm and found he was thankful that Legolas was always semi prepared even if he didn't realize it. He watched as the other man peeled his clothes off and chuckled at his comments about humans.

"Oh my dear Legolas, tell me how you truly feel about us inferior humans." It was a jest. Truly there was no offense in his voice as he spoke. He was quite used to this from the Elf and he often times found it amusing. Even now he did. Though he suspected that also had a lot to do with the fact that he was trying to distract himself from looking at his friend, standing their naked in front of him.

He was sure the Elf was going to reach for him and he found he was disappointed when he did not. And he sucked in a breath when Legolas brushed his shoulder to fix the blanket. Then he frowned at the question. How did he explain it? How did he tell this Elf just how he felt when he had woken to find Legolas gone?

"It was quite a shock to wake up to find you gone, my friend. I had thought you were taken or that you had wandered off and gotten hurt or lost. " He paused laughing at the notion of Legolas getting lost. Then he frowned heavily once more as he got serious. "Worst yet, I had thought you were killed. I didn't know what to do. "

And it was the truth. The thought of not having Legolas near him or him being killed had did something to him that he couldn't explain. His shivered but not from the cold as he let his fear and emotions hit him hard. Something he had never allowed before.

"No, my friend I am actually warm."

The blanket didn't seem to want to stay up. It kept slipping off one or other of the human's shoulders, but Legolas was not stupid, and had an easy solution for that. He simply placed both hands on Aragorn's shoulders, holding the blanket in place. It worked quite well, and also, as a bonus, he was able to touch the human and realize that he was actually, seriously, here on Mirage with him. He'd been getting used to the idea of being alone, not having anyone from his own world. Aragorn, well, he had changed all that. It was good to feel him solid beneath his hands. Also, despite what he'd said before, Aragorn smelled pretty much as far from bad as was physically possible. Why was he just noticing this now?

"You may always count on me for that, my friend... and I will always be able to come up with new and inventive ways to inform you of such. Tell me... why do I bother with you? I know there must be some reason..."

The words were cruel, almost, yet the tone was light, and he knew that Aragorn wouldn't take it seriously. He never did. It was somewhat of a running joke between them. Although Legolas didn't truly have much use for humans, it was more because of lack of experience than any true dislike for the short lived race. Aragorn was different, anyway, and even if he had hated every single human on Middle Earth, he would have made an exception for his Ranger friend.

"I would not have strayed, Aragorn. I was to come with you on the Paths of the Dead, and I never would have turned away from that. If I had, I never could live it down. Gimli would see to that." He smiled impishly at his friend. "I worried what you... what all my companions would think when I disappeared. Would I be thought a coward? Or would you all mourn and think me dead?"

Despite Aragorn's words, the human was shaking, and Legolas wrapped his arms around him in an effort to warm him with his own body. Just like the Ranger, he thought, to state that he was warm when he was still shaking. Sometimes, he thought, even Elrond had nothing on this human in his arms as far as stubborness went.

"Foolish human, I can feel you shake. Here... I shall help."

Deliberately, he stepped closer, snatching the blanket that he had been holding up as it began to fall from Aragorn's body. Deftly, he stepped in so he was right against his friend, and wrapped the blanket around them both. Their body heat combined would, he knew, warm the human up faster. It felt amazing, actually, to be this close to him. He wasn't allowed to feel that way, but it was true nevertheless. Who can help what they feel? He would never do anything about it, of course. This man belonged to another.

Aragorn found he was shaking again but it had nothing to do with being cold.It was the touches to his skin from the Elf that had him shaking and desperately trying not to ask for more. He had never crossed a line he shouldn't. Not in any matter but certainly not in matters of the heart. He belonged to another, true. He could use the excuse she was not here, for it was true. He also got the feeling this was not something that well he could explain. This was so much more complicated and had been for quite a long time. The Elf held a very special in his heart and he always would.

"I know you will never pass up a chance to remind me. I am counting on it, Legolas." Aragorn smiled at him then looked away. "You keep me around to amuse yourself."

Sighing softly, Aragorn nodded. He knew the truth. Legolas would have never left. He would have finished this task out to the end with Aragorn. He knew that. "I know my friend. You had no choice. I know that now, but we didn't know it then." He then paused and frowned heavily. " We believed you had been killed. We knew you would never turn your back on us or run from the journey, Legolas."

Sighing and biting his lip when Legolas stepped into the blanket, Aragorn wrapped it around them by the means of wrapping his arms around Legolas' waist, pulling him closer. Immediately feeling the warmth. He would not do anything else despite how he might be feeling on the inside. He couldn't look at Legolas as eh spoke, chuckling lightly though he didn't quite feel it.

"You always did know when I was lying. Humans can't quite lie very well."

The blond elf wrapped his arms around the humans neck, holding him tightly, willing warmth into his body. Surely, there was no rule against enjoying this, was there? Aragorn was, after all, very good looking for a human. Or, to be honest, for anyone. He was just attractive, period. So being held by him wasn't going to be unpleasant. He smiled, as usual, and looked up into the blue eyes of the human. So weird to have to look up to a human, but then, Aragorn was much taller than most humans.

"Oh, yes, of course. That must be the reason..."

Biting back any number of inappropriate comments, the elf contented himself with simply holding his friend, and if he got a secret little thrill out of the fact that Aragorn was very naked, and still a little damp, that was no one's business but his own. He would certainly never tell anyone. For one thing, Elrond would have him drawn and quartered... not that the wise elf was here, of course.

"It is not such an easy thing to kill an elf, and especially not me. If someone tried, I would be forced to kill them first. I wish Riddick would try to kill me..." He grinned impishly once more.

"Humans cannot do anything very well, but we forgive you for it because you do, in fact, amuse us. Or, at the very least, you amuse me."

Was this anything than harmless? Just two friends getting close so one could offer comfort to the other? Aragorn kept telling himself this was harmless. Nothing more than Legolas trying to help. That was all it was. So what if he enjoyed it a little? SO what if he wished that it could be more than what it was? Well only it was a small wish, deep down inside that Aragorn didn't even fully accept.

Aragorn was feeling better but not wanting this to end, he kept it to himself. He rested his chin on top of Legolas' head for one small moment. The joys of being taller than the Elf though barely just. Sighing in contnt, Aragorn moved them back toward the nearest piece of furniture, a small couch, making sure to still stay as close as possible to Legolas, still pretending to need and not want his warmth. Feeling his knees hitting th eback of the couch, Aragorn sat down bringing Legolas very close with him.

He chuckled softly, shaking his head at Legolas. This Riddick whoever he was, surely seemed to get under Legolas' skin and it amused Aragorn. Since the last person to do that was the Dwarf. "I believe my Elvin Prince, we should probably keep you away from this Riddick. "

Once more he laughed, knowing that while it seemed harsh, it was truly just a barb coming from Legolas and it made this a lot easier. Being taken away from it all. Still being concerned about those he left behind. They left behind. And the fact though his heart weeped for being taken from Arwen, he still couldn't bring himself to think too much about her. About the one he pledged himself to. All he could think about was the fact that somehow he had been reunited with Legolas. he wondered if there was a hidden purpose for this. For this planet to have taken him as well.

Before this moment, he would have thought it was anyone's guess if, in this very situation, Aragorn would have accepted his warmth, or pushed him away and stubbornly wanted to do it himself. The human was somewhat unpredictable. He was glad, though, for his own reasons, that Aragorn was accepting this. He didn't even let himself know just how glad he was.

It was nice, though, to have the human hold him, to feel him rest his chin on top of his head. A little too nice, and deep down, he knew it. But he didn't stop him or pull away, and it had nothing to do with comforting or warming the Ranger. Before he had much of a chance to think on this, he was being pulled over to the couch. When Aragorn sat, Legolas sat too... right in the human's lap. Appropriate? No. Fun? Definately. And for the elf, that was usually enough. He kept his arms around Aragorn's neck, holding on to him.

"Riddick had best keep himself away from me..."

But there was no real venom in his tone, because he was simply too light-hearted to take anything seriously, even a rivalry/enmity with Riddick. It was similar, in a way, to what he'd been through with the dwarf. That had ended alright, but then, Gimli was basically a decent being. Riddick, he rather thought, was a different story, and he somehow doubted he would become friends with the bald man in the same way he had with Gimli.

But it wasn't really important, he realized. Riddick was barely a blip on his horizon at this point. All that mattered was Aragorn, this link to his past, who was now all he had of the future. With a soft sigh, the elf seemed almost serious as he suddenly shifted and rested his head on the human's shoulder. Allowed or not, it was just so good to have him here. And he figured if the human objected, he could always push him away.

"There is much I would show you, Elessar. Many wonders exist in this strange land. Many I have seen, but surely, many are yet to be discovered. Will you share this with me?"

He wondered, even as he spoke, if he was actually begging the human. Surely not... but there was a slight desparation in his mind to keep Aragorn with him. He didn't let it into his voice, though. Idly, he wondered if Aragorn could ever truly be happy here, in a world that was so peaceful.

It took him quite a long time to realize what had just happened. He hadn't realized when he sat, pulling Legolas with him that he had pulled the Elf into his lap. Funny how even when it did hit him, he was not in a hurry to make an amends. He found no need to. His mind immediately began to think about what this meant. Why he was allowing this to happen? Why he wasn't pulling away.? Why he wasn't making Legolas leave his resting place in his lap?

More importantly he was wondering why it was he was holding Legolas tighter, pulling him closer, while still trying to keep the blanket wrapped around them. Even as he felt a small amount of sweat rolling down his shoulders more from pure effort to not move and shift the naked Elf too much on his lap, not from the heat.

Despite the impish side of Legolas, the Elf had proven himself many times to be valuable to Aragorn and his friendship was something Aragorn cherished. He just wondered now if it had somehow managed to blossom into something more without him knowing it? It would explain so much.

It was as Legolas sifted, placing his head on Aragorn's shoulder that he came from his thoughts and tilted his head downward to look at Legolas. He placed a soft kiss to the top of the Elf's head hoping to pass it off as nothing more than comfort. He sighed softly and wondered how his answer would sound to the softly spoken question that held so much within it that it almost overwhelmed Aragorn with how it made him feel.

He knew this would take some getting used to. Being in a peaceful place when it was not something he was used to by any means. But he had two choices. One was to be miserable which would make things hell for him and any one around him. Or two , he could accept what ever it was that brought him here with Legolas and thank whatever it was silently every day. Perhaps... No. These were dangerous thoughts for sure.

"Of course I will, my Elvin Prince." He paused and looked away at something not seen nor truly there on the wall. " There is nothing else I would rather do."

It was getting difficult to keep up the pretense that this was just about warming the human. He could feel the heat radiating off him, and could smell the salty sweat on the human's skin. The blanket wasn't needed, and nor was his presence on the human's lap. He knew it, and yet, he didn't move. Maybe he just wanted to fully convince himself that the human was here, and that he wasn't going anywhere. That they were together now. Or maybe, he just liked being in Aragorn's lap. He held the blanket in place, his arms still wrapped around the human's neck affectionately.

Although he was a playful and affectionate being, he was also a skilled hunter, and could sit still for hours when required. He showed every indication of being ready to do just that, his head resting on the human's chest. Their bodies were very close when Aragorn pulled him closer. He wondered why the human was acting this way. What did it all mean? Was Aragorn just that hungry for companionship, did he need comfort that much? And what about Legolas himself, why was he behaving like this? What had changed, other than the setting?

He felt keenly through every nerve of his body the kiss to the top of his head. Another first. Aragorn had certainly never kissed anyone before, not unless the gravest of circumstances made him feel moved to do so. When Boromir had been killed, he realized, was the last time he could remember seeing it. He raised his head and smiled at the human.

"Am I dead, then, that you should kiss me? I told you before, my King, elves are not so easy to kill. Do not mourn for me yet."

He wondered, even as he spoke, if Aragorn would understand the reference to the son of the Steward of Gondor, and how he had kissed him as he lay dying from his wounds. It was a tasteless comment, to be sure, but it was also the only comment that he knew to make that wasn't too revealing of his inner thoughts, of how much the gesture touched him. As he gazed into the blue eyes of the human, he silently begged him to understand, and not take offense to what he had said.

Then, Aragorn looked away, and Legolas looked down. He never looked uncertain, and he didn't really at that time, either. Just thoughtful, which was something that rarely happened.

"You know, I have heard tell of an event... as we came through the hallways of this building, I heard people speaking of it. Some sort of party to celebrate the storm? I think I shall attend..."

Aragorn's eyes went far away and sad when he heard Legolas' words. He meant the action as comfort yet, it didn't surprise him that the Elf linked it the way he did. Aragorn was not one for affection, and especially not like this. He had only done it with Arwen of course on an intimate level. And maybe a few gentle touches to the Hobbits and a few kisses to the cheek to comfort them. Just as he meant here.

He smiled yet it was not happy, it was sad and mournful. When Legolas asked his question. Aragorn knew that he was referring to the kiss he had bestowed upon a dying friend. The man had died in battle and right before Aragorn's eyes. he could not save him and as he laid there listening to him say his final words, Aragorn had kissed him gently upon the head.

"I am sorry my friend. I do not count you dead. It was a mere comfort thing. Though I am not sure if it was for my comfort or yours." He paused and frowned. The death of Boromir was fresh to him even now . And he knew he would always carry it with him.

But add that to the emotions running through him at being here with Legolas, being glad he was untied with him. Being too comfortable on the couch, cuddled up with him. It was far too much. Aragorn needed to think. He was in a strange place, he had been taken away from it all. From all he knew. The only thing that made it bearable was knowing Legolas would be here. Was here now. But he needed time to accept this. To take this all in. And he needed clothes. And needed to sort these disturbing thoughts and emotions going through him about the Elf.

"Perhaps I shall accompany you to find out more about the people here. Even perhaps meet your friend, Riddick." Aragorn paused and smiled playfully at the Elf. Then went serious again. Reluctantly , he removed Legolas from his lap, standing and bringing the blanket with him. He didn't want to but he knew he had to.

"Perhaps though it is time for me to retire to my own quarters and get some rest. And perhaps clothig. It has been quite a strange day, my friend."

Aragorn moved toward the door, gathering his clothing along the way. "Tomorrow, may we meet for morning meal?"

It was all very sudden, and yet, he supposed he should be used to the mood shifts in humans. If one thing was constant about the short lived race, it was change. Before he could fully comprehend what had happened, he was rearranged so he was sitting on the couch, and Aragorn was off chasing down his clothing. He watched, vaguely amused, as the Ranger found the last pieces flung all over the room.

He wondered, though, if the sudden change had been about their friend Boromir. Though, really, Aragorn had been closer to him than Legolas ever had. Again, he tended to not have much time to spend on humans, with the one exception of Aragorn himself. He'd been sad when the human had fallen, of course. But not the same way Aragorn had. Still, if that was what was bothering Aragorn, he would let him go, for now. The elf was somewhat known for making tactless comments, so he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

"You would be more than welcome, although I do not think Riddick will attend. He does not seem to me to be the sort that enjoys parties very much. You may have to wait for another day for that dubious pleasure."

He watched as Aragorn dressed himself, and hoped for his sake that the clothing was dry. Dark eyes tracked the Ranger as he prepared himself to leave. What could he say? He wasn't going to ask him to stay. He himself was far too much of a free spirit to try and chain someone down where they did not wish to be. So he simply watched, and nodded at the last comment the Ranger made.

"Yes, I would be glad to join you. This food is much better than your cooking, you should be glad to hear. It might even surpass the Hobbit Sam's cooking." he laughed softly, hiding his true feelings with the expression as he always did. "Remember, my King, that all you must do here is focus on what you want, and you get it. Your room, your clothing...."

To demonstrate, he concentrated and his room flickered back into the woodland grove it had been when they first entered.

"Just focus, and it is yours. Farewell, my friend. Until we meet again."
