Day 8 // Enter Rogue
Who: Rogue and Bobby Drake
When: Day 8, early afternoon
Where: The beach
Why: Rogue's arrival
Rating: G
Status: Complete

It was an odd feeling to be drained of life force. Rogue had done it to so many others yet had never experienced the sensation herself. As Apocalypse sucked the energy and absorbed powers out of the young mutant she learned out painful it could be. Tiring too. Once the ancient mutant had his fill and let go of the young woman, she sank to the cold ground and passed out. It seemed like she was out for a few minutes when Rogue's green eyes snapped open. Why is it so hot? The teenager had been in cold Himalayas' in Tibet so she shouldn't have felt like she was roasting. Wasn't I in a cave? Where is this sand coming from? That was when Rogue realized something was horribly wrong.

Sitting up quickly, Rogue glanced around to see that she was no longer in Apocalypse's lair but on a tropical beach! "Okay...what's going on here?" Rogue murmured, confusion crossing her pale features. She slowly stood up and brushed the sand off her black jeans before shedding the heavy winter jacket to reveal a black tank top. Typically Rogue tried to keep herself covered up as much as she could but it was simply too hot. Besides, she was pretty good at avoiding skin to skin contact as long as she kept her gloves on. The teenager slung the jacket over her shoulder and looked around the beach once more. Off in the distance was a large white stucco building. Maybe it Rogue was lucky she'd find people inside.

Maybe I don't even have to go inside, the teenager thought when her eyes caught some movement further down the beach. It was person but aside from that Rogue couldn't really make out their features in the bright sunlight. "Hey!" she called, waving her free arm. God I hope they know where the other x-men are to, Rogue silently prayed as she jogged toward the other person.

Rogue? The teen paused for a moment, surprised to hear her own name coming from the stranger but she continued on. If he knew her name then he must know the other x-men and might even be able to tell her where they were. As she headed closer to the other person she received another surprised when she realized he was about her age and looked strangely familiar. Who is he? Rogue couldn’t shake the nagging feeling she should know him but for the life of her couldn’t think of who it was. She certainly didn’t recognize it was Bobby Drake for in her world, Iceman was younger than her.

Whoever he was, the boy was certainly acting like he knew her. “How do you know my name?” Rogue asked in the way of greeting him, her heavily shadowed eyes narrowing as the moved over him. Blunt as ever, Rogue wasted no time in barraging him questions. “Where am I? Where are the other X-men? And who the hell are you?”

Bobby blinked, looking kind of shocked. Was she kidding? She didn't look like she was kidding. Actually, now that she was closer, she didn't look like herself. He'd never seen her wear that much make-up. What the hell had happened to her while she'd been gone?

And she had to be kidding. Either kidding or she wanted him out of her life so much that she was pretending she didn't know him, and that was just stupid. He subconsciously ran his fingers through his hair, wondering if maybe somehow the planet had made him change so that she wouldn't recognize him.

"It's me, Rogue. Bobby."

"Bobby? Bobby who?" At first it didn't occur to Rogue that he was Bobby Drake but it soon clicked in. She realized now why he looked so familiar. "Bobby Drake?" He looked older than she last remember which prompted Rogue to wonder how long she had been out for. Apocalypse hadn't knocked her out for a couple of years, did he? And what? The other x-men decided to bring a comatose mutant to the beach? Get real Rogue.

"What happened to you? Did you hit a growth spurt over night or somethin'?" The mutant girl asked as she ran a gloved hand through her multi-coloured locks. "Whatever, it ain't important. Where are the others?" Rogue glanced around the beach almost hoping to see them but no such luck. "The last I remember was being Tibet after Mystique and Mesmero brought me there. Next thing I know I'm on a beach and you look about my age now...." Rogue broke off as she stared at Bobby. "Maybe older", she softly added.

"Goddammit, how long was I out for?"

Okay, now Bobby kind of thought she was just messing with him. Like she was so upset with him that she was pretending she didn't know him. He shifted uncomfortably, crossing his arms in an automatically defensive position. "Rogue, I don't-" he cut off when she repeated his name again, emphasizing his last name. Now he was back to being confused. She sounded like she'd actually had no idea who he was.

"No? I'm pretty sure I'm the same height I was when you left." Maybe the planet had done something to her. If it could kidnap them and randomly change what it looked like, maybe it could mess with memories or something, too. "I've always been a little older than you. And Tibet? You were in Tibet? I thought..." He trailed off, because he didn't want to tell her that he thought she'd gone to take the Cure. "Mystique's human, in custody. Who's Mesmero?"

He moved closer to her, reaching out to take her hand and looking at her in concern. "I don't know. What happened after you left the mansion?" Maybe she'd gotten hit on the head, or something.

"What?" Rogue blinked, feeling very confused. "Mystique got turned to stone", she replied. "I saw it with my own eyes and as for Mesmero, did you sleep through that briefing? Don't you remember when Professor X told us about him?" It didn't occur to Rogue that Bobby wouldn't know this since he wasn't the Iceman of her world. "He's a mutant who hypnotize people and he was working for Apocalypse", she explained. The teenager immediately tensed up as Bobby went to take her hand, even though she was wearing her gloves. There was no danger of absorbing him but it was strange nonetheless for anyone to try and touch her.

"After I left the Mansion?" Rogue repeated, frowning. "I went to Jean and Scott's graduation but Magneto and the Brotherhood showed up and then...then things got a little fuzzy", she admitted, her voice soft once more as she remembered Mesmero taking control of her mind once more. "Mesmero was using his powers on me and I met up with Mystique and we headed off to where Apocalypse was imprisoned". Her green eyes hardened at the memories.

"They used me again", the teen continued in a chipped voice. "They need my powers and the ones I absorbed to wake up Apocalypse. Wolverine, Gambit and Sabertooth were there but no one could stop him". A sad sigh escaped Rogue. The knowledge that she had helped unleash the most dangerous mutant upon the world did not sit well with her.

"What about you? What do you remember? And what happened to rest of the X-men?"

The things she was saying made no sense, and Bobby found himself staring at her in confusion. He had...no idea what to do with this. Really, none. It was like someone had taken his girlfriend - ex-girlfriend, whatever - and copied her, but somehow scrambled her mind. Despite that, he still felt a bit hurt when she tensed at his touch, because he knew to be careful, and she should know that, but then he realized that if she didn't remember anything else, maybe she wouldn't remember that.

"They're not here," Bobby said, going with the easy question first. And when the hell did explaining that a planet had kidnapped them become the easy thing to explain? "We've been kidnapped. We're on another world. A world that can think, apparently, and has enough power to bring us here. And we're stuck here. And that sounds crazy, but it's really not."

Then he paused. "Although if you remember hypnotizing people and apocalypses, maybe it won't sound quite as crazy for you. The planet must have done something when it kidnapped you, or, I dunno, but none of that happened."

"If I hadn't been kidnapped before then I might not believe you", Rogue said with a sigh. Thanks to Magneto and Mystique however, Rogue was all too familiar with the kidnap scenario. "It's also not the craziest thing I've heard of but I'm inclined to believe you anyway. You aren't exactly the greatest liar Bobby".

When he told none of it had happened, Rogue first reaction was defensiveness. "Of course it happened! I remember it, don't I? I--" Then Rogue broke off, a horrifying thought occurring to the girl. "That's if I can trust my memories", she finally said after a few moments. Oh god, what if someone had fucked with her memories? What if what Rogue remembered wasn't true? A mutant could do it, a powerful one like Xavier or Mastermind could screw with a person's thoughts.

She looked at Bobby, feeling more than a little frightened. Being kidnapped was bad enough but thinking that who or whatever kidnapped you had messed with your mind? That boarded on terrifying. "What if you're right? What if something messed with my mind?" Rogue's gloved hands came up to rub her eyes. She didn't like this feeling, not one bit but another thought occurred to her then. "What if it messed with your mind too?" she suddenly asked Bobby, her hands dropping down.

"Oh this beyond screwed up".

"Hey, I," he started to protest, then stopped. "Okay, you have a point. And that's so not something I should protest." Even if he kind of did want to insist that he could so lie.

Oh, man, this so royally sucked. He'd been so happy to see her, and now it wasn't even really her. Well, it was her, but someone had messed with her memories and that was just really not okay. Even if she didn't remember that they'd been together, he still cared about her a lot, and wanted to protect her. Which meant he hated this planet a lot more now.

Bobby frowned a bit. "That's a good point." He considered that. Nah. He'd know, or something, wouldn't he? He knew what it was like to have a telepath in his mind. "Wait. There have been people here from different worlds. I don't know. You think, maybe you're just from a different world than mine?"

Rogue just stared at Bobby for a few moments, blinking twice before she finally opened her mouth. “Okay, that has to be the craziest thing I’ve ever heard”. From a different world? No way, Rogue immediately thought but a nagging voice in the back of her mind told Rogue not to blow off the possibility completely. “Okay, that might explain why neither of us remembers the same thing”, she admitted grudgingly. “It would also explain why you look so different from the Bobby Drake I know, who’s about fourteen right now”.

The teenager glanced around the scenic beach and shook her head ruefully. “And to think I thought evil mutants were the biggest thing I had to worry about”, she chuckled. “Never imagined I’d be kidnapped and dropped into a different reality”. Her green eyes strayed on the blue waters before finding their way back to Bobby’s face. While this Bobby was different from the one she knew Rogue was glad to have a somewhat familiar face around and another mutant to boot. Normally she was a solitary girl but she had enough sense to tell her that this was not a situation you wanted to be alone in.

“So what’s the deal with this place? Do you have any idea why we were brought here?”
