Day 7
Who: Bones and Ace
What: Bleeding Love
When: Early Afternoonish
Where: Courtyard, to start
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

Bones had spent her second day holed up in her room slash lab. She didn't want to give anyone anything to observe. But if there were cameras in her room somewhere, it didn't make a bit of difference if she stayed there or went outside. So, this morning, she had decided that being observed or not, she was going to try to figure out where she was, and why she'd been brought here.

She showered, put on a fresh set of clothes. Clothes that were her style, and filled her drawers and closet. She didn't know where they'd come from, but her rebellion didn't extend to being dirty and wearing clothes two days in a row. She left her hair down, knowing that today was probably not going to produce any work for her. Wearing an outfit she might wear if she went out on a dig, jeans and a tanktop and hiking shoes, she exited her room.

She wasn't exactly sure where to start, but she figured that the plaque she'd been shown the first day was as good as anything. She walked down the hall, down the stairs and out of the building. She was almost thrown back by the sensation that hit her as soon as she inhaled. She blinked rapidly and shook her head like she'd just been struck in the face with a bat.

She could smell something faintly on the air, but it didn't register as anything odd. But she was starting to feel ... good. And it was strange considering she'd left her room in a rather irritated mood. She shook it off and headed for the courtyard where the plaque had been. She wanted to re-read it and try to make some sense of the situation.

She rounded the corner of the building and came face to face with another woman. "Sorry." She glanced into her face, blue eyes meeting her own and smiled. And then it happened, that gut wrenching feeling of love. What the hell?

Evening :: the bar

Ace couldn't think of a better way to spend the day on this planet. It was the first time she'd actually watched a sunset too; one of those cliché romantic moments that normally she'd avoid. Still it was nice enough, not the most impressive thing she'd seen, but she'd been more focused on Bones -- which had been the case most of the day. Holding hands, talking, among other things...Dates with the time traveler usually ended in trouble, running in some completely different era, adrenaline was better then novel romance. Today it had been walking, the game room, lakeside and a little lunch. Whatever looked like fun.

"Here." She grinned, pushing open the door to the bar, and pulling Tempe inside along with her. How better to end the day then with a few drinks? Taking a seat at the bar, the golem looking a little out of place, but she'd learned to shrug it off. She was used to them by now, having seen weirder things in her life. The brunette motioned for Temperance to sit on the stool beside her.

"Hypervodka and a -- " Ace looked to her companion to order her drink. Normally she'd just order two. Hypervodka was a cocktail of Earth and alien liquor, with the taste of any sweet froofroo drink, and the punch of a couple double shots. She wasn't sure that Brennen could handle the drink though, having never had it before. So instead she waited for the other to pick something a little less potent.

Bones had found herself having a very good time with her newfound love, Ace. She had enjoyed her time with the woman, chatting, walking, the sunset. It had all been very unobtrusive and soothing in all reality. She found that despite their differences, and their differing opinions on what could and could not possibly exist, she still managed to have a good time.

As they walked through the main building, Bones had begun to wonder what else they might do that day. It was dark outside and it was difficult to see out there with so much open space and no lighting other than the moon and stars. So, staying inside seemed to be a good idea. She paused when she heard Ace say "Here." Her grin was slightly unnerving, and then Tempe understood once she was inside. It was a bar.

She groaned inwardly as she was pulled along to the long bar on one side of the room. She took the stool next to Ace and leaned an elbow on the bar. "I'm admittedly not a great drinker." She gave her a little grimace. She wasn't good in social situations where she was surrounded by people. There weren't that many people in there, but still. There was loud music, which she didn't mind, and bodies on the dancefloor writhing to the rhythms.

"Uh, beer." Whenever she'd had drinks with anyone, it usually ended in disaster. She'd gone out for drinks with Angela and ended up high from some cocaine sealed in a wall she'd sort of broken through by throwing someone into it. She got drunk with Booth, and always woke up with a raging headache. She usually stuck with beer or wine, depending upon the occasion.

She gave a tight smile to the golem, which she still thought was probably just a very well devised robot, and took the beer offered to her. She didn't have a preference on the type of beer she drank, she was just drinking so she didn't look so out of place in the bar. She was interested in the drink Ace ordered, however, and studied it with a raised brow after the golem set it down. "What exactly is hypervodka?"

Ace sat on the stool with her back resting against the bar, glancing around at the people on the dance floor, the pool table off in the corner (which she made a mental note of for later), feet tapping lightly to the music, and smiling back at Bones. The other looked a bit put off by the idea of drinking, but the beer she ordered would, no doubt, help her relax. As for the bad drinker bit. How bad could a beer or two be? Unless the woman was an absolute light weight, but really -- Ace could keep her in check if that was the case, she was a great drinker.

As for her drink, it took a bit longer, but eventually the golem pushed a glass her way. "Exactly?" She repeated, taking a small drink of the clear liquid. "I'm not sure. Obviously there is some vodka. I think there is a bit of Gallavax Prime. Maybe Redstar or gin." Ace shrugged slightly, she'd probably asked before, but couldn't remember for the life of her. "It's sweet though, but not for the casual drinker." She knew from experience that this was one drink you definitely had to drink slowly, or you'd be in a sorry state in no time flat. "Want a taste?"

She grinned and took another sip, some of the almost honey flavored cocktail still on her lips as she leaned over to kiss Temperance. Any excuse by now was good enough for her, and after spending all day together she didn't feel any reason to restrain herself. Any worries about the short time they'd known each other long since gone.

Bones wasn't so much put off by the idea of drinking as the idea of what would happen as a result of drinking. She took the beer and placed the cool glass of the mouth against her lips, taking a small swallow. She savored her alcohol. If it was going to make her relax, she was going to do it on her terms. A master of control.

She leaned on the bar, beer in hand, facing Ace. She nodded as the woman repeated part of her question. Crossing her legs she leaned forward slightly, looking in the glass at the clear liquid. She was concerned that Ace didn't know what exactly was in it. She knew a few of the ingredients, but Bones wasn't sure she would be able to drink or eat something without knowing what it was, first. Still, she nodded at Ace's explanation, but hesitated at being offered a taste.

She finally nodded again. "Sure." But as she reached for the glass, Ace took another drink and leaned foward, pressing their lips together. Bones snaked her arm around her neck, tasting the honey flavored liquor on her lips. Her lips parted and she lapped up more of the liquor with her tongue. It tasted good, but she could tell just with that small amount that it would knock her flat if she had it in greater quantity.

She broke from the kiss, panting slightly and grinning goofily. "It is good." She didn't want to taint the taste of the alcohol with the taste of her beer, but she was suddenly parched. She took a long gulp of her beer, forgetting the need to be moderate and slow. The rhythm of the music was getting to her, along with the alcohol. A flush was creeping up her chest to her neck and she wanted to dance.

She set her beer down and pulled Ace toward the dancefloor. Normall, it was Angela pulling Bones toward the dancefloor. But pheromones, Ace, and alcohol were all factors in the way she was acting now.

Ace would've been more disappointed when Tempe broke their kiss if it hadn't been for the goofy grin playing across her features. She couldn't help but laugh, especially when the other proceeded to chug down quite a bit of her beer. The grin wasn't something new, they'd both been making eyes at each other all day, but the flush was new. Oh god...She's a lightweight, ain't she? The brunette thought to herself with an amused grin.

She didn't get the chance to think much longer on it though, having enough time to set her own drink down before being dragged off towards the dance floor. "Whoa, gorgeous...I-I need to drink more if you expect me to dance!" Ace argued, not much of a dancer, more the watching type, but it didn't look like she had much of a choice.

She tapped her feet awkwardly to the beat, swaying this way and that, but it could hardly be called a dance. She'd waltzed in the eighteenth century, and participated in a traditional folk dance with a family from some planet she couldn't even begin to pronounce, but the later required she turn in a circle, do a few odd hand gestures, and sing. So she just watched Bones, following her example, and just trying to move with the music.

Bones wasn't the best dancer, but music moved her. She let it take over and she just moved her body the way the music demanded. She laughed as Ace protested, but pulled her to the center of the dance floor anyway. She watched Ace for a moment, noting her awkward movements. Ace wasn't much of a dancer.

Temperance moved in, placing her hands on Ace's hips and moving them with the beat, moving her own hips in the same way. "Just let it take over. The music will guide you. Don't let your inhibitions limit you." Bones was giving this advice? Well, the day had been very different from what she was used to. For one, she didn't just fall in love with random women. For two, she didn't normally spend the entire day with said women.

She grinned and removed her hands, turning and swaying as she circled Ace, brushing up against her. She lifted a hand and trailed it from Ace's shoulder to the small of her back as she completed her turn around her. She lifted her arms above her head and closed her eyes, swaying to the rhythms.

"Whatever you say, babe." It wasn't so much as inhibitions as it was her lack of practice and two left feet. Usually she was buzzed enough that when she danced it was more the alcohol moving her. She smiled at the feel of Bones' hands on her hips though, and moved under her guide, trying to follow the music. Ace got the general idea soon enough, and managed not to look totally awkward only to have Temperance let go and start showing off. Of course, she had no complaints, watching the other woman dance circles around her. A pleasant little shudder going down her spine as fingers played over her shoulders and lower back.

Standing back and watching really wasn't like her though, so it didn't take long before Ace closed the distance between them again. Moving behind the other woman, her hands moving down her sides and resting on Tempe's hips, swaying with her rather then trying to keep with the music. Which did make it easier, she'd always been a hands on kind of learner.

If she had dared to speak those words aloud, Bones would have promptly told her that having two left feet was not possible. But, seeing as how she didn't, Bones just smiled at the whatever you say, babe comment. Temperance was pleased when Ace seemed to let go a little more and begin dancing on her own. She turned her head slightly as she watched her move around behind.

She felt hands on her own hips and felt Ace dancing behind her. She put her hands on Ace's and swirled her hips, rocking and gyrating to the music. She was having a lot of fun, and had only had a sip of beer and a faint taste of hypervodka. She really didn't need alcohol to have fun, she needed to not be at work. Although, work was also a form of fun.

But at work, she had to think. Here she did no such thing. She listened to the music, lifted her arms above her head and danced like no one was watching. She leaned back against Ace and wrapped her arms up and back around the other woman's neck.

It was lucky she hadn't said so out loud then, as it would have no doubt started an interesting conversation because Ace had personally met a man with two left feet (however, despite the saying, he'd been a fantastic dancer). Though it hadn't been by any real choice of his, more a medical accident -- but that would have to be left for some other time. Instead she tried to focus on her own feet; a step here, a step there, avoid other people's toes. She could be graceful as all get out when fighting, but this was different.

With Bones' hands on her own she moved her hips in a way that the tom-boyish soldier would otherwise have insisted they couldn't do. It was fun. Typically she liked to go to bars, play pool, drinking games, things like that. Dancing with Tempe was admittedly, much better. She smiled and swayed and let her fingers play across the other woman's hips and sides as arms wrapped around her neck.

Ace wondered idly if these feelings would last. It would be nice, a companion of sorts of her own while she was on this planet. Relationships weren't something she was great at, but this had been going about pretty damn well so far. Bones was fun, interesting, even if she did think Ace was delusional, but given time she could prove herself on that account no doubt.

Of course, if these feelings didn't last that might make for a bit of awkwardness later on. They did learn quite a bit about each other during the day though, so at the very least Ace assumed they would be on friendly terms.

Dancing was not something that Bones typically enjoyed. She loved music, but she often found that she didn't have the desire to dance to it. Once in a while, she got the inclination, but it was rare. This was one of those rare moments. She wasn't even especially good at it, she just let her body take over and move of its own accord.

Sometimes she was in sync with the music, but a lot of the times she wasn't. She was having a great time with Ace and wouldn't have it any other way. She turned, slinging her arms back around Ace's neck and swaying with the music, their bodies brushing against the other's.

She smiled and slowed as the song came to an end. She looked Ace over and then took her hand, walking back to the bar. "You're a good dancer." She took her seat back on the barstool and lifted her beer to her lips. She took a swig and smiled. Earlier that day she had accepted the fact that she was inexplicably drawn to this woman. As long as she felt this way, she was going to enjoy it. It was making her happy, and that was something she usually only reserved for her work with bones.

By this point Ace had gotten over any awkwardness or self-doubt so far as her dancing was concerned. Honestly, she didn't much care about how she looked or moved with Bones held close, arms curled around each other, and having real fun. Easily the best day she'd had on this planet, in a while actually. Still, she was hardly upset when the song ended, more then happy to lace her fingers together with Temperance's and return to the bar.

"Had a good teacher." She stated simply, lifting her glass to her before taking a drink. A little sip at first but really she was never one to sip drinks for very long -- glancing down, noting little more then half of the drink, she shrugged and took the rest out like a shot. Delicious as it was, she still gave an involuntary sort of shudder, and asked for a beer to wash down the bitter sort of after taste that much hard alcohol left behind. She'd spend most of tomorrow in bed with a hang over, no doubt, but its not like she had any pressing appointments.

"You know," Ace smirked a bit, looking at her beer. "I can make beer and bourbon, bathtub brews. Used to make it back in Chicago, and sell it at this little nightspot on Dearborn Street." She took a drink and smiled back at Bones, leaving out the fact that she'd done this back in 1929 with the Doctor during prohibition. "Have you got any strange talents?" Ace asked, leaning against the bar casually.

Bones scoffed a little at the teacher comment, but she took it graciously and smiled at her. She watche Ace down the rest of her drink, raising an eyebrow. She had done shots with Booth a few times, but had always regretted it the next morning. She did not do well with hangovers. This beer was going to affect her but it wasn't going to give her a raging headache in the morning.

She smirked and then looked impressed when Ace said she could make beer and bourbon in a bathtub. "Impressive. Illegal, though, isn't it?" She wasn't sure about that, she'd have to ask Booth. And then like a punch in the gut, she realized Booth wasn't here to ask. She gave Ace another smile, but it wasn't convincing.

"Me? Strange talents? Well, I don't think they're strange. I have been trained in three types of martial arts, I'm a registered marksman for the NRA and I have hunting licenses in four states. That's just outside of work. I have three degrees and by looking at a single bone I can usually give you the general age, sex and cause of death for a person." She looked up at Ace. "Do you think those are strange talents?" Booth did. He thought all her friends that worked in the lab had odd talents.

She suddenly felt their loss more powerfully than she had since setting foot in this place. She tried to smile, but it was so tremulous that it was too much effort. She took a deep breath. "I think I should go. I've really had a good time with you today, but I ... I need to be alone. I'll... catch up with you another time." She slipped off the stool and nodded to her, touching her shoulder as she passed her on the way to the door.

She loved Ace, but she also loved her friends. And she felt like she was never going to see them again. Being alone felt like the only thing that would keep her sane. Maybe she could find something in the half lab in her room to occupy her mind.

"It was at the time." She admitted, not sure if it was still illegal to make your own alcohol in more present times. Not that it really mattered as she'd only utilized that particular talent back in the 20s and then once again in the distant future for some of the soldiers she'd worked with to help take the edge off after enduring some pretty messed up shit.

"The bones thing is unusual for me, but definitely impressive. The others not so much. I'm not trained in any fighting styles, but I've gotten in enough fights to hold my own. As for the guns -- Soldier. Hell of a shot with all kinds of weapons. I've got quite a collection." She always carried at least one gun among other compact weapons on her person, habit from years of fighting aliens and the sort.

Ace caught that something was off, wondering if she'd said something to upset the other woman. It wouldn't surprise her, she tended to do that sometimes without even realizing it. They had spent all day together though, and understood if Bones wanted to call it a night. "Alright. Good night, Tempe." Ace let her hand brush Temperance's briefly, and watched her go. As tempted as she was to follow, she stayed at the bar a while longer, figuring it wasn't that big a resort, and they'd run into each other again.
