Day 7
Who: Rusty & Ayla
What: Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop
When: Morning
Where: The Coffee Bar
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

The slender cave woman sat up on her bed of hay and furs. She sat up a little too quickly and had to hold her head in her hands to keep it from spinning. When it was over, she opened her large blue eyes and looked around. She had been here so long that the cave in the Valley of Horses was beginning to fade from her memory to be replaced by this one. Other than the fact that Jondalar was not here, she was fairly content. She had her horses, although she missed Baby (the cavelion cub she'd raised), she met new people every day who were, for the most part, like her and not at all like the Clan.

There was no reason she would really want to leave, and if Jondalar magically arrived, she would be much more content to stay just where she was. She stood from the bed, which was really more like a trench filled with hay, and headed into the shower. She liked the water that streamed down and could be controlled with the knob in the wall. She probably would have been more likely to use a stream to bathe in while she lived in the valley, and asking for a stream in her room was probably too much. But, she was getting used to different technologies every day.

She took her time in the shower, and then when she was finished, she plaited her hair into two braids and donned her summer wrap. It was still warm outside and there was no reason to wear more than she needed to. Other than the amulet around her neck and her wrap, she was bare. Bare legs and thighs, bare shoulders, bare feet. Dressed this way, as she was every day, she padded down the hall of the living unit. Exiting the lodging unit and entering the main building she headed for the coffee shop.

The few moments she was outside both buildings, she had noticed the strange scent wafting on the air. Her brows had furrowed because she couldn't place it, but she continued on her way. It didn't seem to have any effect on her. However, while she walked down the halls toward the coffee bar, she saw people who seemed to be acting strangely. Not that strange behavior was in an of itself strange, only that they had a strange look on their face they didn't normally have. Sort of dazed, and faraway. And they didn't seem to be conscious of their surroundings. They kept bumping into her.

Arriving at the coffee bar, she stepped inside and shut the door behind her, feeling rather out of place. She had never tried coffee, but it smelled pleasant and she knew that they served tea here as well. Tea was something she was very familiar with. She ordered some orange tea and a bran muffin and found herself a seat in a booth. She drew her legs up on the bench and watched the golem approach with her tea and muffin.

She thanked him, though she knew he couldn't speak, and watched him walk away before she looked down at the steaming mug of tea and the muffin. She broke a small piece of the muffin off and put it in her mouth, chasing it soon after with a swallow of hot tea. Smiling to herself, she looked up to see a man she had never seen before walk in. He was very handsome, sandy blond hair, chiseled features, and tall. Her smile warmed as she made eye contact.

"Eleven Days? Wow. Then you must know a lot about this place. Me? I'm still getting the hang of it. I better stay around you if I have any questions at hand." He smiled. He dared to bring her hand back into his.. while his thumb gently stroked her soft skin... He sort of did it out of impulse.. without thinking.. but at the same time.. he was. Once his food and drink arrived.. he gladly took his coffee.. took in the bittersweet aroma from the hot beverage.. He held up the mug and touched his lips to the glas rim.. slowly and lightly taking a nice refreshing sip..

"Mmm.. It always tastes better in the morning. I do have to admit. And it Also it tastes even better with company." He gave a simple wink.. and gently removed his hand from hers to take the glazed donut.. The softened pastery sugar glazed was absolutely hitting the spot of his hunger.. After he swallowed his bite.. he set his mug down.. and lightly shook his head.

"I'm sorry.. if I am sounding a bit forward.. But you are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."

Each word was incredibly sincere.. and encentuated with his undying love at first sight. His words may have sounded a bit blunt.. or typical to say.. In fact he isn't sure if words can even describe how this woman was making him feel right now. It was definitely a brand new feeling for this Con Artist.. who is a Pro at acting like he is love.. He never would have imagined it to feel so amazing..

As he took her hand, Ayla looked down, watching his thumb caress the back of her hand. It was mezmorizing. No one had ever done that to her that she could recall. It felt nice. She had to admit it. She looked up to watch him drink, watching his face for a reaction before she tried it herself.

She wasn't sure why, but his wink made her blush and she distracted herself by picking up the second mug of coffee and bringing it to her own lips. She sipped, the hot liquid rolled about in her mouth before she swallowed. She had tasted worse things, and found that it wasn't all that bad. A second sip confirmed it. Still, she set the mug down and took a bite of the second donut.

It was so sweet that it made her eybrows furrow. She didn't have anything like this where she came from and she couldn't decide if she liked it. She licked her lips to glean the glaze deposited there and swallowed. The pastry itself was very good, doughy and fluffy at the same time. It was the glaze that threw her off. She decided that she liked her muffin a little better and pulled it back toward her.

"It tingles right here." She pointed to her jaw just under her ear. "It's very sweet." She smiled and picked a piece of her muffin off, popping it in her mouth to drown out the sweetness of the sugar that still lingered. She followed that up with a swallow of coffee. "I like the coffee, though."

She looked back at him when he spoke and she blushed even more. "Me? Beautiful?" She would have scoffed, but she could see that he meant it, and that he wasn't teasing her. She bit her lip and looked down at the table. Only Jondalar had ever said she was beautiful. To the Clan, she was big and ugly. She still felt big and ugly, even around the people who were taller than she was.

She glanced back up at him, searching his face for some sign that he might be telling her an untruth. But she could see nothing there, so she smiled hesitantly.

Rusty couldn't help but release an embarrased chuckle himself.. "I've never been so certain in my life.." Those blue hues were becoming much more lost into gorgeous sapphire eyes... falling for each little thing she did.. her smiles, the way she spoke.. the way her blonde lockes would move past her shoulders.. He was very so much in love.. Rusty himself always wanted to know the difference between lust.. and love.. and this woman before her.. definitely gave him a new feeling.. and it was love.

"I probably sound.. really... well what's the word lame? I apologize if that's the case. Usually I am more.. savvy with the words. But in all due respect.. I'm speechless when I'm speaking to you."

He picked up that sugar glazed donut.. taking another savory bite of the sugary pastery.. noticing she preferred her muffin.. he felt amused rather than offended.. and actually thought it was cute. Heck he may just have to switch to muffins next time.

Eversince he laid eyes upon Ayla.. all thoughts of worry and doubt as well as the fact that he may never see his friends.. walk down the streets of Vegas or LA.. all those negative thoughts were simply gone.. All he ever wants to do now is learn more about Ayla..

"So.. where were you before this Planet took you here?"

She quirked a half smile at his response. He seemed sincere. She felt flattered, and appreciative that he was free with compliments. She laughed softly, putting a hand over her mouth. People of the Clan didn't laugh and it always made her a little self-conscious. She didn't know what the word lame meant, but she supposed it was something negative from the way he talked.

"Why are you speechless? You seem to be able to speak well enough." She tucked another rogue strand of hair behind her ear and licked her lips. She picked another piece of muffin off and put it in her mouth. She chased it with another swig of coffee and leaned back in her seat in the booth to answer his question.

"I lived in the Valley of Horses." She knew that didn't make sense to most people, so the continued on, trying to explain a little better. "I used to live with the Clan in a cave near the sea. But I left three years ago and found the valley with the horses. There was a small cave there that I made my home it. It was where I lived until I was brought here. What about you?" She took another sip of her coffee and watched him.

He was quite handsome and she really had no idea what he was doing with her. She had seen a lot of other women around the resort that were much more beautiful than herself. She set the coffee back down on the table, tiling her head slightly, watching him. She appeared coy, but really had no idea how to be coy if she tried.

Rusty listened to her.. savoring her every word.. and taking in each detail of her home place.. He imagined it to be a very earthy place.. and natural, as he noticed from her attire.. then he heard her ask about him..

"Me? Well.. I." He was torn.. how he hated to lie to a woman he truly had feelings for.. yet the truth about his life can drive her away and not have her become at all interested.. But he knows very well that honesty is key.. and perhaps.. maybe just maybe she might understand.

"It's more complicating really.. I live in a city called Los Angeles.. I travel here and there.. depends on what kind of mood I'm in. I spend most of my time in another city called Las Vegas.. Now.. not all of my cities begin with 'Las'.." Knowing well the pronounciation sounded very similar.. "Just a coincidence.." Hmm.. wow not much to talk about where he is from.. that is for sure..

"Vegas is a more 'entertaining' city.. it has various forms of entertainment and people gamble and drink alcohol. I go there for the Casinos.. which is where people gamble with money.." He wasn't expecting her to understand everything.. the last person he spoke about his home didn't either.

"I was on a plane back to Angeles, until I appeared in some Game Room here in the resort-- This place is really something else. I was really freaked out and afraid.. until I saw you. Something about you that makes everything calm.. it sure makes me want to stay."

He took a drink of his coffee with a gentle smile..

She listened as he explained the place he came from. She had never heard of the place and wasn't sure what a city was. But she nodded. She didn't know what gambling was, but understood about wine and alcohol. She could even make it herself.

She smiled at him and blushed slightly. She wasn't sure what it was about the man, but he was making her feel all fluttery inside. He was tall, handsome and he was paying her such strict attention. She couldn't help but be flattered by it.

"I do not know if I want to stay here, but it is nice, and there are things I don't have where I come from. And there are people. Many more people than I have ever seen before. You are the first one I have seen with light hair like mine."

She took another sip of her coffee, but she was done with her muffin. She felt self conscious to be eating in front of this man. She sat with her hands folded in her lap. He was very interesting and she wanted to know more about him.

"Do you make your own alcohol?"

Rusty was allowing that pheromones to cloud his mind.. and forget about all that he has left behind in his own world.. He wanted so much as to lean over and feel those softenend plush lips upon his own.. It really felt like nothing else mattered. Rusty was very much in love.. which is something he rarely feels.. Something rare of him to even commit to such a thing called love.

"You are right about that.. I have never really met someone who lived in a cave before.. I am not saying it's an impossible lifestyle.. because I am very open to all ways of living. Where I come from.. we have so many different cultures and lifestyles.. I can't name every single on off. I guess that's what makes it so interesting.. I mean let's face it; if all life was the same; we would get bored pretty fast." He nodded..

He finished up his glazed donut.. and started to finish up the last of his coffee..

"Me? Make my own alcohol? No; I can't say I do.. Do You?" He questioned very intrigued and impressed.. that she can brew up her own alcoholic beverages. Knowing well it does take some skill and the right ingredients..

"That's really fascinating.. What certain kinds do you make?"
