Day 7
Who: Rusty & Ayla
What: Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop
When: Morning
Where: The Coffee Bar
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete
The slender cave woman sat up on her bed of hay and furs. She sat up a little too quickly and had to hold her head in her hands to keep it from spinning. When it was over, she opened her large blue eyes and looked around. She had been here so long that the cave in the Valley of Horses was beginning to fade from her memory to be replaced by this one. Other than the fact that Jondalar was not here, she was fairly content. She had her horses, although she missed Baby (the cavelion cub she'd raised), she met new people every day who were, for the most part, like her and not at all like the Clan.
There was no reason she would really want to leave, and if Jondalar magically arrived, she would be much more content to stay just where she was. She stood from the bed, which was really more like a trench filled with hay, and headed into the shower. She liked the water that streamed down and could be controlled with the knob in the wall. She probably would have been more likely to use a stream to bathe in while she lived in the valley, and asking for a stream in her room was probably too much. But, she was getting used to different technologies every day.
She took her time in the shower, and then when she was finished, she plaited her hair into two braids and donned her summer wrap. It was still warm outside and there was no reason to wear more than she needed to. Other than the amulet around her neck and her wrap, she was bare. Bare legs and thighs, bare shoulders, bare feet. Dressed this way, as she was every day, she padded down the hall of the living unit. Exiting the lodging unit and entering the main building she headed for the coffee shop.
The few moments she was outside both buildings, she had noticed the strange scent wafting on the air. Her brows had furrowed because she couldn't place it, but she continued on her way. It didn't seem to have any effect on her. However, while she walked down the halls toward the coffee bar, she saw people who seemed to be acting strangely. Not that strange behavior was in an of itself strange, only that they had a strange look on their face they didn't normally have. Sort of dazed, and faraway. And they didn't seem to be conscious of their surroundings. They kept bumping into her.
Arriving at the coffee bar, she stepped inside and shut the door behind her, feeling rather out of place. She had never tried coffee, but it smelled pleasant and she knew that they served tea here as well. Tea was something she was very familiar with. She ordered some orange tea and a bran muffin and found herself a seat in a booth. She drew her legs up on the bench and watched the golem approach with her tea and muffin.
She thanked him, though she knew he couldn't speak, and watched him walk away before she looked down at the steaming mug of tea and the muffin. She broke a small piece of the muffin off and put it in her mouth, chasing it soon after with a swallow of hot tea. Smiling to herself, she looked up to see a man she had never seen before walk in. He was very handsome, sandy blond hair, chiseled features, and tall. Her smile warmed as she made eye contact.
