Day Six
Who: Ace & The Doctor
When: evening
What: fireworks...
Where: by the lake
Rating: G - PG for swearing maybe
Status: Complete

She was starting to like this planet -- just a little bit. A lot actually. Not to say she wanted to stay indefinitely, but she could keep herself occupied for some time if the planet continued to provide her with chemicals and substances of various explosive qualities from any planet she could think of. Chemicals she'd never been able to get her hands on before. Not to mention any kind of equipment she needed.

Of course, she probably looked more then a little goofy wheeling a little red wagon full of god knows what across the grounds, but she figured she shouldn't play with her new things in doors. Ace didn't want to accidentally blow the resort up. So she set up by the lake -- far enough away that people wouldn't be hurt, horses wouldn't be spooked, and if anything went wrong there was loads of water around. A small fold out table, two small burners, glass bottles of different colored liquids, blocks of X-27 (her favorite; an alien type of C-4...only better) and things she didn't even recognize.

The brunette was a self taught chemist. Perhaps not very safe, but she was very clever. Setting down a few marble sized explosives, her very own nitro9 (more like nitro-422, she was forever improving it, but nitro9 just had such a nice ring to it.) to compare with whatever she made.

It had been light out when she started, but when it came to explosives time just flew by so quickly. As much as she would've liked to continue -- she'd made it this long without incident, but playing with explosives at night would just be pushing her luck. Ace opted to finish playing with this last one before packing up, and wouldn't it just be her luck that this one would backfire on her. She was chucked back a few feet with the tips of her bangs singed a bit and her left hand a bit burnt, but otherwise unharmed and witness to an interesting display of fire works. The X-27, a touch of astrolite, and some red liquid she didn't recognize didn't just burst into flame -- it rocketed up in to the sky and exploded, sending down a shower of red, gold, and yellow sparks. Very pretty but with the potential to be very harmful if not for the force shield generator on her wrist to keep them from touching her, and with it she was able to bandage up her hand and watched the fireworks safely enough.

"You sat still long enough to go fishing?" She teased. "No bright colors on this one either. Finally acting your age?" Ace had no doubt he was still as eccentric as always, it just wasn't so outwardly obvious anymore. She supposed it made sense though, especially the last regeneration being all moody -- what could you expect from someone who had lost his home, friends, family. (Though Ace had to say that his family hadn't been the greatest in her opinion.)

Smiling softly at he took the book, she was definitely glad she hadn't tossed out that old flower. After all, Ace wasn't the sort to keep girly things like that typically, but it was one of the little nick-knacks she kept to remind her of the Doctor. (Leela, Romana, and the others of well too.) "Your welcome. That's what I'm here for, taking care of my daft old Professor."

Ace shrugged at the quote. She'd only read the book once before, so she'd actually forgotten that little extra thing at the end, but it made it a little more fitting. She moved back to pull her little red wagon into the TARDIS, looking forward to seeing her old weapons store, even if they'd probably all be outdated by now.

"They forced me to," he explained. there was pretty much no way he'd go fishing voluntarily. "I don't see how it's fun or entertaining. You sit there for ages getting leg cramp and sunburn," he whined, apparently still not quite over the injustice of it all. "Plus, I threw my fish back because I felt guilty!" he said, rather exasperated by the whole experience.

"What would I do without you, eh?" he asked, giving her a sort of affectionate nudge with his shoulder. he placed the blossom carefully between the pages of the book once more and followed her into the TARDIS.

"Oh yeah? That was the day I showed up then. I had to go white water rafting. Met an elf." She chuckled, pleased that at least her mandatory activity was more interesting then his had been. It was also kind of funny to think of him throwing a fish back cause he felt bad, hell she could almost picture him apologizing to the thing.

"You went and got killed three times." Ace answered as they entered the TARDIS, and she led the way to her old weapons store. It was only a few doors down from her old room, and stepping inside -- it was pretty empty. The wagon of chemicals and toys would help fix that but still. She had more weapons in her bike then this. Most of it was explosives, her nitro9, a few souvenirs from their run-ins with Daleks, Cybermen, Cheetah people, her old bat that the Doctor had dipped in the Hand of Omega, and a big ol' gun she'd stolen off the U.N.I.T guys.

"Score." She grinned and took the old bat from it's place on the wall. Though she did stop to stare sadly at the broken old spear that used to belong to Karra, and the knife the master had used to kill her -- She barely knew the Cheetah woman, but she still felt that connection now and then, somewhere buried inside her was a link to her old 'sister.'
