Riddick honestly did not like feeling trapped, much less actually being trapped. The night before on the way to his room, Riddick was reflecting on the plaque in which seemed to hold his fate. But never one to accept defeat and certainly never one to give up easily, Riddick was also plotting. He would not accept that this was it for him.

Once getting to his room,Riddick put his strange meeting with the Elf out of his mind. Certainly the other man didn't like him and Riddick honestly had no plans to change it nor was in a hurry to run into anyone else on this planet.Thee room much resembled the one he had when he was in the military, still a good guy. It was simple, a bed, dresser, the necessities. With a few luxuries. Work out equipment despite there probably being a work out room here on the resort. Riddick was not a social person so this worked for him.

He also was not one that needed sleep apparently as he spent the rest of the night, thinking, reflecting and plotting. The lights were out, the welding glasses put to the side and he allowed himself relax as a small plan formed. When the sun came up, Riddick would go exploring. Make notes, take in the land. To him, regardless off rather he was wrong, the first place he would explore was the mountains in which he had woken up within. he was a survivor and a master at escaping. If there was a way out,he would find it regardless of how long it would take him.

The sun was just rising when Riddick grabbed his belt and his glasses, slipping them on as he opened his door and walked out. He didn't look around to see if anyone was about or around. He didn't care. Riddick, made his way from the lodging his memory good enough to remember the path taken to get here and took it back toward the mountains.

Riddick was used to women either dressed in lavish dresses or robes like Dame Vacco or dressed like himself in cargo's,tank tops or t shirts and boots. This woman walking beside of him was honestly quite a mystery to him. Normally he would really care, however she was giving him much useful information and she was honestly a nice enough person.

He walked beside of her listening intently as he looked around taking in everything that Ayla was telling him and showing him.He was getting that the planet just snatched who it wanted and there was no real reason or pattern as to why they were being snatched. But Riddick would not give up and he sure wasn't one that liked to be trapped. "Surely there has to be some way to get the hell off this damn planet." It was more spoken softly to himself than to the woman beside of him.

Riddick judged the paths before them and took the one to the right. He figured it would eventually lead them to somewhere. Of course he wasn't thrilled with the knowledge of the planet always changing. It would make it harder. But he wouldn't give up. he paused after sometime and sat on a rock, over looking the land.

He turned his head to look at her, smiling a little once more and shaking his head."Don't worry you weren't rude.I'm used to people being curious and wanting to know. I am also used to them staring and trying to remove them. I'm not offended." He paused and smiled once more wanting to reassure her everything was okay which was odd. "They welding glasses to shield my eyes during the day. I have special eyes and they are ultra sensitive to light."he honestly wasn't sure how to explain his eyes to someone who wasn't from his planet.

After a few minutes he stood and stretched. "Tell me more about yourself, Ayla. What exactly is your story?"

Ayla slid her blue eyes toward Riddick at his muttered sentence. She sighed softly and then shook her head. "If there is, I'm not sure the Planet is ready to reveal it yet. It was strong magic that brought us here, it will take even stronger magic to get us off against it's will." Ayla wasn't exactly content with their life on this planet, but she didn't know magic, and she was sure that she wouldn't be able to get back to her own time if she did find an escape. But maybe the others didn't care about that.

She paused beside him as he stopped to sit on the rock. He was very observant, and she had no doubt that he could find a way off, if that is what he really wanted. He seemed like the determined sort.

She flushed slightly as he replied to her apology. She ducked her head, but was reassured that he wasn't angry, and that she hadn't shamed her people too much. Ayla wasn't sure what welding was, nor glasses, but she assumed it was the name for what he wore on his eyes. And she understood that they were for protection. But, she didn't want to ask any more questions, so she let it go.

"My story?" She looked up at him as he stood and stretched. His muscles rippled and flexed and she shook her head in slight wonderment. She didn't know how a body could be so bulky, and still look so normal. He was a huge man, but he didn't appear to be deformed in any way.

She shrugged a little. "What is it you want to know? Where I came from? What I have been doing since I came here?" She didn't really know how to answer his question, she needed something a little more specific. She didn't think he would understand where she came from, anyway. No one else really seemed to.

"I don't know about magic, but what I do know is there is always a way if you just look for it." Which was what he planned to do until he found a way to get back home.He didn't care about taking the throne, but he did want to finish what he started which was fixing the problem. He continued to walk shocked that the other woman was able to keep up so easily and not bitch about being tired.

Chuckling softly,Riddick realized that his explanation probably did nothing to help her or make the curiosity go away considering she was clearly from a different time. But again he wasn't exactly sure how in the hell to explain it so he dropped it.It wasn't like he could take the glasses off considering the sun would blind him right now. He continued to look around.

It would take some getting used to,considering no one here really understood anyone unless they were from the same time.Sadly for him it was impossible to even wish for the one person who understood him. He was not a man many understood not even those of the same species or heritage. And again small talk or even pleasant chit chat was something new to him.

"Ah.I suppose we wouldn't really understand each other's stories, where we come from and what we did before we were here? But I am not very good with small talk." He offered a small apologetic smile as he continued to walk.

Ayla nodded and shrugged, conceding to his stubborn idea that he would somehow find a way off the rock. Ayla kept pace with him easily. She walked most of the time, and hard labor was not foreign to her. She worked physically for everything she did. Her endurance was spectacular. And, even though she might not compare when it came to his strength, she was strong enough for a woman.

She looked at him sideways when he chuckled, but she didn't ask. Figuring he found her amusing in some way. She kept quiet while he spoke, but she found that while he made sense, she had a compelling urge to tell him about herself. She wasn't sure why. Perhaps it was because he was kind, despite his hulking mass that might have told her otherwise.

"I am not very good with small talk, either. Perhaps if I talk and tell you about myself, then you can just listen and we won't have to make small talk." She smiled apprehensively beofre she pressed on and began her story.

"When I was very young, only about this many years," she held out her hand with five fingers sticking straight out, "there was an earthquake. I was separated from my own people and I wandered for a long time. A cave lion attacked me and left these scars on my leg." She pulled her wrap up a little to reveal the four parallel scars on her left thigh. She released her hold on the wrap and continued.

"A woman named Iza found me. I was very sick because the wound had become infected. She treated it, and took me with her and the Clan. She adopted me, even though I wasn't one of them. She cared for me. She was the only mother I ever knew. We lived at Creb's hearth. He was the mog-ur. The holy man of the Clan. They taught me to speak properly, too. Iza was the medicine woman. She taught me to be a medicine woman of her line, even though I didn't have the memories." She looked over to see if he was listening.

"I had to learn quickly. The first time it was taught to me. By the time Iza died, I was the medicine woman of the Clan, and Uba, my sister, Iza's daughter would be medicine woman, too." As she spoke, she moved her hands in a rudimentary sign language. It was the way the Clan communicated, and it was a difficult habit to break, even after learning to speak vocally.

"I had a son while I was living with the Clan. Creb named him Durc after my favorite legend. When Durc was four years old, I had to leave the Clan. Iza told me before she died that I had to leave and find my own people. Broud, he hated me from the first day I was with the clan, he took my son from me and cursed me with death. I had to leave. I walked for a long time until I came to the Valley of Horses. I found a small cave there, set into the side of a cliff. There was a small path up to it. I stayed there for three years." She was talking slowly, but it was a mouthful. She looked over at him again. She wasn't finished, but she didn't know if he wanted to hear anymore, so she paused.

Riddick was a stubborn man and he was determined. he had things to do,things to finish and take care of.Being stuck here was clearly not one of the options he had. Nor was it a thought he liked. But it would take some time to gather the information he needed and Ayla was being very helpful.

He also listened intently as she spoke about herself. You honestly never knew when information would come in handy to be honest. He also found her company some what pleasant which was saying a lot for him.

Riddick raised a brow but said nothing as she spoke of her son and him being taken away. One of his only weaknesses were children. He never understood why but it was a weakness for him. He had this over bearing and overwhelming need to take care of them and protect them. It always struck him as odd that he could easily cut someone 's throat or put a bullet between their eyes but a child being harmed? He could never take.

He also realized how in a way they shared a few things in common. But a lot of things she was telling him puzzled him and sparked a curiosity in him. He kept telling himself it would make things easier somehow if he knew all he could about the people around him.

"Sounds like you had an interesting life before coming here.. Very different yet the same as my own."

When she realized that he was indeed listening and was finding comparisons in their lives, she continued on. "One day, I was riding Whinney, my horse friend, and we heard a cave lion roar and a human scream. I had not heard the sound of another human in three years. We raced toward it and found Baby, a cave lion I had raised from a cub, standing over two men. Men who looked like me."

As he sat on the rock, she continued her story. He was an attentive listener, and she appreciated that she wasn't just filling the empty air with her words. "One of the men was already dead, his neck had been broken. The other had a head wound and a large gash in his leg. I put him on the travois behind Whinney and pulled him back to my cave. I nursed him back to health and he taught me how to speak."

"His name was Jondalar, and I was with him just before I was brought here. We had gone on a small trip before we intended to find more of our people. I have been here for the last ten days." She looked over at him once more. While she had been speaking, she was looking over the land that was now her home.

"Since then, I have done a lot of exploring and I have met a good many people. But none of them are Clan." She took a deep breath as she finished her story. She wanted to know about him, now. "How is your life like mine?" She was curious. He was very interesting, both in the way he looked and the way he talked. Ayla had a bit of a speech impediment. Not that she couldn't speak correctly, but she seemed to swallow some of her words, or clip them. That too, was a result of her life with a people who had very little use for verbal language. They could not speak, and the sounds they could make, were few.
