I'm just gonna straight up apologize for my absence and such here from the jump. I wasn't going to be too public with this, but it might be for the best. My father has cancer and so sometimes posting just isn't an option for long stretches. I handle taking him to his appointments and his chemo so there's that as well. But yeah. His chemo started over a month ago and before that it was just a battle to get him to go. I do apologize for being a ghost and I can't promise it won't happen again. I can be here now though. Hopefully.

Hi there. I'm Jesse. I'm very new here. Most if not all of my rping has been done on DW. I did kind of start on like invisionfree boards, but that was like ten years ago or something. It's been a while. I switched over here at the behest of one very persuasive mod.

I'm super lame. I sell Medicare insurance and work from home. Right now the selling season is less active for me so I'm not shackled to my job. I'm in the CST timezone. When I have days off I keep the worst hours. Otherwise I work the later shifts because I hate mornings. I'm just a truly terrible morning person. It's a crime.

TURF WARS

Things between the Redwood Valley Pack and the neighboring Eureka Pack, have long been frought but for the most part, the two packs have stuck to their own territory. The change in leadership in the Mercy Cove pack, some 10 months ago has seen this grudging truce be tested.

The Eureka Pack has ideas of expanding their territory while they believe the Redwood Pack is vulnerable and this month they intend to see just how hard they can push before the pack breaks.

TENSIONS RISING

The increased presence of pack members and dealers who work for them in Eureka, has not gone unnoticed in Mercy Cove.

  • The MCPD has seen a surge in arrests for possession and drug-related altercations and crimes.
  • Pack-member-owned businesses and places of work have experienced theft and vandalism.
  • Members of the Eureka Pack have been showing up to notable town events, including the Founders Festival and the recent Christmas Market.
  • Wolf-related attacks in Mercy Cove have seen a surprising uptick, leading to the emergence of several bitten wolves. While there has yet to be any proof that the Eureka Pack is responsible, it's long been believed they are to blame.

    • THE ESCALATION

  • What was once minor graffiti, is now overt cases of vandalism and even arson.
  • Prominent Eureka Pack Members will take to showing up at notable Redwood Pack Hangouts to try and incite a fight; The Howl, Real Fitness.
  • Hikers in the Redwood State Park will see increased encounters with vicious wolves.
  • Fights between members of both packs will spill over into the streets of Mercy Cove, resulting in a lot of unwanted attention and bringing heat on the Pack Leaders of the Redwood Valley Pack.

    • OOC INFORMATION

    Throughout the month of January there will a number of 'Media Posts' going up on the network, illustrating incidents that have occurred. Whether your character is in the center of things or not, whether a wolf or not, it's very likely they will be impacted by the goings-on in some way. What that looks like, however, is completely up to you.

  • Players can use general members of the Eureka Pack as catalysts within their own threads. You don't require mod permission, just tag your threads with 'Eureka Pack'.
  • The more prominent members of the Eureka Pack [info]eurekapack will be NPCed by the Mods (or players with discussion) during this time. If you have an idea for something you want to do, let us know!
  • A player character will be bitten during an altercation. This will be the first instance where the Eureka Pack can be confirmed as responsible for the attack.
  • Arson and Property destruction: Want this to happen to your character's business, have at it. Obviously, we don't want to see the whole town set alight but there will be incidents and we are taking volunteers. If we have too many who want this, then we'll random number generator our way into deciding what burns.

    Think of this as, not something that has come out of nowhere but has been building for a while, and it's becoming increasingly impossible to ignore. This is not a series of incidents that would be confusing, at the very least, not to the wolf community and police of Mercy Cove.

    • IMPORTANT EVENT UPDATE / NOTES

  • Within the backdrop of the game, the Eureka wolves causing mild trouble for the Redwood group, is not something that has come out of nowhere, this is an old as time tension that has been building for a while.
  • A key thing mentioned above; Prominent Eureka Pack Members will take to showing up at notable Redwood Pack Hangouts to try and incite a fight. While it's widely believed all of this is Eureka, there is no proof which is why it's been difficult to manage. Their presence coincides with the incidents. Don't assume they would just go rogue and start a brawl without provocation.
  • Pace yourself. If things escalate too hard and fast, the Pack will be forced to put an end to it immediately which will end the event. In order to allow all members to have an involvement and for the pacing of key planned story beats to be able to happen, try to keep this in mind.
  • Major incidents should be run past a mod before posting. We aren't saying don't do it. We are saying, check with us so we can guide you for pacing. A little push and shove? That's one thing. Outright aggression initiated by Eureka? Absolutely check with the mods.
  • Innocent bystanders will of course be caught in the crossfire but random people would not actively be targeted. If you want to be involved and your character is not a wolf, or closely connected to a wolf, fantastic! Just ask yourself how could they be impacted in a way that makes sense?
  • The Redwood Valley Pack, wherever possible, would be expected to operate within the bounds of the law. Similarly, the Eureka Pack would either be expected to do the same or not be caught breaking the law. Anyone caught breaking the law on either side, would/will be arrested.
  • The secrecy of the Packs and what they are, still matters. The Eureka Pack is not going to out the Redwood Pack as Werewolves, any more than the Redwood Pack would out the Eureka Pack. Regardless of tensions or turf disputes, all within the Supe Community value and respect the need for secrecy.
  • There is, at present, what is effectively an Agreement that exists between the two packs. There is a way that things are handled between Packs in close proximity. There are always politics at play.
  • When in doubt, ask a Mod.

    RESTAURANT WEEK

    To celebrate small businesses right here in Mercy Cove, the town is celebrating Restaurant Week. This is a time when local residents are encouraged to leave the dishes to somebody else and head out to sample some of the incredible food that the Cove has to offer. There's even a number of restaurant giveaways to encourage the people to head out.

    NEW YEARS EVE ♔ FOUNDERS BALL





    The Founders Ball is an annual event, held every New Years' Eve at the Mayor's Official Residence. Tickets can be purchased at City Hall and all proceeds from the night go to supporting Mercy Reach; A nonprofit foundation that provides grants and other program support in the areas of health, human services, and education, right here in Mercy Cove.

    • Masks and Formal Attire are required for entry.
    • Beer, wine, and soft drinks are included in the ticket price. Spirits can be purchased at the bar.
    • Canapes are provided but there will be no sit-down, formal meal.
    • A number of tickets are sent to various groups, businesses, and city employees throughout Mercy Cove, as well as notable leaders or representatives from the Supernatural Community.
    • Every year, the Mayor's Office sends a number of tickets and formal attire rental vouchers to members of the community.
    • The local radio station also runs daily competitions, where one lucky winner will receive tickets for two, a limousine to and from the ball, as well as a night in an ocean-view cottage at the Sea Breeze B&B. Runners up will receive two tickets to the ball.

    Two more which rounds me out at 15 and the new additions are Vivienne Stillwater & Kai Fisher.

    • Vivienne - Born and raised in Faerie it was expected that Viviene would marry and have children. That was not what she wanted so she joined the army and proved herself. So much so she became a court ordained bounty hunter sent out over wayward Fae who needed to be brought to justice. It's the reason she's in the human world, doing whatever she needs to in order to get the job done.

    • Kai - Born and raised in a huge family of Shifters Kai is definitely a well known face around Mercy Cove. He's lively, outgoing, very community orientated and a bundle of energy and warmth. He's never felt the need to leave Mercy Cove as everything and everyone he could need or want are there. A good friend to have with an infectious personality and undeniable warmth.

    Hiya everyone! I'm courtney or cee, whichever is easier and I have dropped a siren into your midst (who was initially supposed to be a nymph but it just didn't turn out that way). Her name is Katya and she's relatively new, more or less from the east coast (by way of a long time being spent in Europe), and lives at the Cove. She's a shop girl (at a yet unnamed shop, I'm teetering between antiques or maybe a record store if anybody works at or frequents either kind of place?) and has a lucrative and kinda secretive side hustle with an onlyfans situation.

    She likes refurbishing things and is working on turning her apartment into a kind of pastel Lisa Frank nightmare. And of course, there will be no singing suggestively unless it has been discussed prior, but even then, it's not something she likes doing in the first place. Makes things messy nine and a half times out of ten. She's shy and well meaning and would really just like to be friends with just about everybody - and is hopeful that when Halloween rolls around there will be some kind of brunch put together to go shopping for all the Beetlejuice and Friday the 13th stuff that's being put out this year. Or y'know, whichever franchise that's preferred.

    I am up for all sorts of plotting and whatever would be fun or useful to whomever - I'm just kinda sorry that I'm getting to this so late tonight :[!
