oo1 → Snuggles

The Cuddle Meme
from geeesh @ lj

HOW IT WORKS:
❧ Post a blank comment with your character's name, canon, and any preferences.
❧ Use RNG to choose your cuddle scenario (or choose your own).
❧ Cuddle!

CUDDLE SCENARIOS:
① Sweet dreams
It's been a long day and all you want to do is sleep or just rest your eyes for a bit. Hopefully whoever is close by doesn't mind if you use them as a blanket.

② Stormy weather
The heavy rain, thunder and lightning won't be letting up anytime soon. Luckily, it's the perfect weather to stay indoors and snuggle up close and keep warm.

③ Lazy dancer
It's the end of a party, or maybe it's only the two of you, but the tempo is slow and the lights are low. Let your dance partner take the weight and just sway.

④ Surprise attack
Time to invade someone's personal space. Are they working too much and need a distraction? Maybe you just wanted to brighten their day. Either way, they won't see it coming.

⑤ Movie night
It can be on the sofa or in a darkened theater, but you've got your popcorn and someone to settle against during your favorite movie.

⑥ I love you, man
It's totally platonic, really. You're just very good friends, no matter what people like to think. But you just love your friend so much you want to hug them, whether they like it or not.

⑦ Jeepers creepers
Welp. You were just frightened. Was it a spider in the washroom, a ghost in the attic, a bad dream? Either way, you're looking for someone to cling to right now, and who better than that person right there?

⑧ Hurt and comfort
Whether you're sick in bed, just been dumped or suffered a traumatic event, you need someone to wrap their arms around you and make everything go away.

⑨ Sunday morning
Maybe you just had a wild night. Maybe there’s just not enough space at your place and you need to share your bed. Or maybe you just got really tired and someone else happened to be there. Doesn't matter because now the person with you looks way more comfortable than any blanket or pillow. Drape to your heart’s content.

⑩ Moment after
You just had incredible, vigorous sex (playing out is totally optional) and if you weren't a cuddler before, you are now. You're probably too exhausted to do anything else anyway. Just enjoy the moment.

⑪ Ménage à trois
Or four, or five. Get a group and cuddle away.

⑫ Player's choice
Pick one or make up your own!

"Hey...Erik, hey....are you asleep??" Yes, that is indeed a mouse about 2 inches away from your face as you're resting in bed, Erik. To be fair, he sounds a little worried even in his telepathic voice.

A quiet groan answered the question, followed by a bleary-eyed blink. It took mere seconds for his eyes to adjust to the dark and the starkly brighter patch that was the mouse in front of him. Oh, oh. It was Charles talking to him.

"Not any more. What's the matter?"

Charles seems a little nervous, his nose twitching. When Erik finally answers, he moves in closer, moving right up under his chin. There's a noisy creature in my room...I'm not going back in there. Can I sleep here?

The creature in question was an old style radiator.

A slow blink followed and Erik's brow furrowed. "Creature?" The first thing to cross his mind was that some stray animal was in the room. A cat, an opossum, or a rat. The list went on, but the thought derailed by the slight tickle of Charles' fur and whiskers under his chin. He pulled away slightly and grunted in what he hoped sounded like approval of the request. "On the pillow so you don't get crushed."

Yes, it makes a loud whining noise and shakes...

Charles doesn't want to move away at the moment though, his little furry body pressing up against Erik's neck. This was a nice warm spot, why should he leave it? I won't get crushed, this is fine.

Erik blinked in the dark and a low, rumbling chuckle sounded as he realised what Charles meant. "The furnace?" It made some sense. That thing was a great monster to a small creature. He chortled once more, the sound thick and sleepy and lifted a hand to run the backs of his fingers against Charles' fur. "Very well, but if you get squashed, I can't be held accountable."

What's so funny? Charles couldn't see the humor in the big scary creature being in his room. He'd tried to ignore it but it just got louder and eventually he just ran for Erik's room. Erik was bigger than the monster anyway, he could keep him safe.

Charles flops down on the pillow just under Erik's chin and neck, enjoying the petting. Lab rats don't get petted often, if ever. He pulls his tail around, holding to it to make himself into a ball. This is better here. It's warm.

"You can stay, but you should get used to that monster, Charles. It's just the furnace." It wasn't so bad having him there. He didn't take up much room and, once the scare wore off, he'd probably be quiet. There wasn't much chance he'd snore and disturb Erik's sleep.

Easy for you to say, you could probably rip it to pieces if you wanted to. Which was true, it was almost all entirely metal.

Charles settles into the pillow with a small mouse huff of a sigh as he puts his head down on it.

"It can't hurt you," Erik assured, albeit a bit sleepily. "We'll talk about it in the morning. I'll show you that it's harmless."

...ok. So long as you're there. Charles was starting to get tired too after being all scared beforehand, it had worn him out. He stays in a ball and shuts his eyes, trying to go to sleep...and hope that the monster doesn't come in here.

...it's still hard to sleep when he keeps thinking about the loud furnace and Charles backs up a bit till his furry body meets Erik's neck and he curls there, feeling safer. He can feel Erik's pulse, a steady beat that's comforting to have nearby.

It ticked a bit when Charles moved closer, but Erik was far too tired to make any complaints. The little fellow wasn't really an inconvenience either, so there was no point in turning him away. He tipped his chin down just a little to give the mouse a more compact, secure space, then wedged his arm under his pillow in an effort to get comfortable once more.

"Good-night, Charles."

Charles had fallen asleep in the early hours of the morning. Only a couple hours before what he knew was Erik's typical waking time. He told Erik to sleep through the night, even if Anne were to wake up. He had almost regretted it, as he could have used some company when it got to be four in the morning. Eventually, he got to his room. His getting into bed was never the most graceful when he did it in his own, but he slept almost the moment his head hit the pillow, shifting his body next to Erik. He didn't even bother getting into pajamas.

The jostling woke him immediately, but Erik remained quiet until Charles was settled in. The man often kept long hours and the luxury of getting a full night's sleep? Well, he was grateful for that. Once Charles' stilled, Erik curled around him, already making plans that included letting him sleep in and possibly breakfast in bed with he and Anne.

Charles moved a hand to grip onto Erik's and closed his eyes. It was one of the first nights he could think of where pure exhaustion drove him into sleep. It was a sound sleep where his upper body was curled around Erik closely and he relaxed near him. He muttered a 'good night' before he slept. Soundly.

Erik never slept much. He often napped when Anne did, so he certainly managed to get the sleep he needed, just never in one large chunk of time. However, he woke a bit groggily with many plans for the morning only to find himself stalled by Charles' sleepy clinging. Try as he might, he couldn't get free. Every time he pried one arm free, the other moved to replace it.

"Like an octopus," he grumbled.

Charles clung onto Erik for a few moments and his arms finally relaxed on Erik as he started to wake up. He grumbled something that was completely incoherent as he opened his eyes. "...Hm?" he asked, only partially hearing Erik's comment about him. He was someone who really did enjoy clinging as he slept.

"Breakfast," he grumbled back, finally wiggling free of Charles' embrace. "Stay in bed, I'll cook." As if that unusual. Erik usually was the first up and dealt with his own early morning routine before making breakfast and checking on the baby.

Charles shifted a little bit and closed his eyes as if to half sleep. "Alright. Thank you, Erik." His tone came out as a mumble, which certainly wasn't completely intentional. He appreciated that Erik was going to do this for him. No matter how much he enjoyed those few extra moments bonding with Anne, he did regret staying up as late as he did.

He could skip his morning run and shower after they'd eaten. Erik shuffled through the room to locate his robe and house shoes before slipping quietly from it. Even with the sunrise brining light to the world, the house was still a bit dark and carried with it the stillness of rest and sleep. It was part of the reason Erik enjoyed the mornings so much. They were quiet and worry-free. He did make a point of checking into the nursery to ensure all was well with Anne before finally reaching the kitchen.

Less than an hour later Erik was back in Charles' bedroom, this time with a tray in hand. The scent of food wafted through the room, filling it with the enticing smells of breakfast. It was deposited on the bedside table and Erik sank down onto the bed beside where Charles slept.

"Charles," he murmured, nudging the man's shoulder gently. "Wake up. Breakfast is done."

Charles took the time Erik was away to take a bit of a catnap. He felt slightly more rested when Erik nudged his shoulders. He opened his eyes slowly and stretched his arms a little. He made note that he would change his clothes next time he decided it was alright to crawl into bed so late. At least he would wake up in something that wasn't a collared shirt. "You are the single best person around." His tone was sleepy, but grateful. "Thank you."

"You, Professor, are a horribly biased creature," Erik mused. "Come on, sit up and eat before it gets cold. I even made you tea." Erik himself preferred coffee, but this was Charles' meal. He did slide a cup of coffee on the tray though for himself.

"Only slightly biased. Doesn't make you less amazing." Charles shifted first up onto his elbows, then leaned his back against the headboard of the bed until he was sitting upright. He gently patted the spot next to him in the bed so that Erik could sit and drink the coffee while he had his tea and breakfast.

Erik grinned and leant down to press a kiss to the top of Charles' head. He settled carefully into the empty spot on the bed and snagged the coffee from the tray to sip at it. After a long moment to let Charles eat, he finally glanced over and announced, "We should spend a day in bed."
