[upon her arrival, Painwheel definitely had a little bit of an episode. she tore up that welcome basket and flipped her every shit available to be up-ended, and finally inspected the network a little once she calmed down and all the fear and irrational anger subsided—once she realized she's actually in control and she doesn't have to be such a fucking spaz.

it occurs to her, however, that she hasn't properly socialized in a very long time. she's probably bad at carrying on conversation. she also doesn't want to talk about herself. she doesn't want people to see her face. but she wants to know about the other criminals here. she wants to know people like she used to know people. they can't all be bad, right? ...RIGHT??

and so, she's been inspired to make this post!]

...Hello— [her voice is deep and worn, gravelly in its quality, like her vocal chords have been blown out a little.] My...name is Painwheel.

[she takes an unsteady breath in, and manages to push herself forward, a little.]

There's a lot of people here—people who've committed crimes... So I guess that's our common ground, as people... But that can't be it, right?

So...what do all of you enjoy? Who are you? I'd... like to know, I think.

That's okay... There's a lot of non-humans from my world, too.

Are you human?

An excellent question. I certainly fit the... broad image. Four limbs, ten digits, two eyes, all of them in what would appear to be the standard composition.

Unfortunately, I haven't yet performed a series of detailed vivisections to verify any of that on even so base a level as internal organ size, color, structure, etc., let alone made true comparisons on the cellular level.

[ a cheerful beat ] Suffice to say that, being made up as I am of fonons, I am technically, chemically different from most here.

[ his kingdom for a Guy... ]

Are you familiar with the concept of an "atom"?

Then fonons serve a similar purpose on my world. Depending on your world, you may or may not have a "periodic table", where elements are neatly categorized and numbered, but when I tell you that each fonon has an element on my world I mean something rather different: there are seven elements, and combinations of these make up all matter.

[ rattling, rattling ] Darkness, Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, and Light are the first six; fairly standard concepts, if nothing else, but the seventh known fonon is classified in a more unorthodox manner. "Sound", we've called it since its rediscovery; it's also related to memory, and use of it grants one the ability to heal.

[ a beat, and then he adds smoothly ] Ah, yes; and that is another thing. On my world, it is possible to manipulate fonons through the fon slots on one's own body; those with the talent for it are called fonists. Through this manipulation, a version of "magic" is achieved.

[ of course, in the future, that is going to continue to become more and more difficult, but alas. ]

[thank god this guy has a pleasant voice. but truly, it is all very interesting.]

That's amazing...! I don't think any kind of magic really exists, back home. At least, not like that.

Are you a—[what was the word]—fonist?? Can you do all that stuff?

[ dear dear, what has he done. ]

From what I've learned of other worlds, I would venture to say that it is not one of the more common commodities.

I do seem to possess a little of the required talent, yes. [ lalala understatements ] If you would like to see someone more exceptional, you might direct your requests to one Tear Grants. She's quite the skilled Seventh Fonist, the rarest of all gifts.

[ translation: go bother her ♥ ]

Tear... [MAYBE SOME DAY SHE CAN WORK UP THE NERVE, but she's stowing away that name for personal reference.] Okay. Thank you.

...Your world sounds a lot different than mine. A lot more interesting.

[NOOO how embarrassing. good thing she has no idea, but it's her own fault for having so many public episodes of emotional volatility. she's a 1 woman (girl?) emotional roller-coaster.]

Well, what do you think of Marina? Do any of the people here interest you?
