Test Drive Meme!

1 | AGE UP/DOWN
Maybe they are a little kid. Maybe they're just from a slightly earlier time in their life that makes a big change. OR Your character could be a few days older or a few years. Maybe this comes with a canon update and maybe it's just what could be if they stay in prison.

You start seeing visions of people from home. They could be dead or alive, but they don't interact. You just get glimpses of them before they blink in and out like static. Or maybe it's worse than that. Maybe you're the one who can't touch anything. Good thing you can still interact at least.

Maybe you have a canon AU to choose. Maybe you just want to see what your character would be like if they had been made a vampire back in the day. They could be from a world that lost the war. There was probably a war at some point, right? You get the idea.

If you had no power, now you have one. Use this if you don't want to choose. If you had a power already you can choose to have it gone or to pick a new one!

[Michiru is more than happy to lead the way, heading towards "The Row" in Sector 4. There were only two clothing shops she was aware of and she liked this one better. Plus it was closer to where she lived than the other]

It isn't for me either. The first one had a worse start. You didn't end up with the jumpsuit, but there was a restraint that they were trying to get one of the bots to lead you around for one to three days depending on what that warden considered reasonable. I would have had to do that, but I had been there previously for a day and became acquaintances with a few people who helped me avoid the bots.

[Breaking the rules on her first day. Aren't you proud of her?]

	[Michiru leans more into her at the touch. She'd missed it so and finally she had her again. She had settled in quickly, yes, but it was nothing that she wasn't willing to let Haruka in on. [ Oh, this is dangerous. They have things to be doing, and Haruka should feel more disgruntled at being flung into what as far as she can tell is a particularly immaculate dystopia (given the amount of rules in place). But she's also been fighting off her innate sappiness ever since she saw Michiru here and heard the circumstances, and like hell is she going to worry about all that nonsense right now. ]

Yeah. We'll bear it all together.

....Michiru.....

[ This just graduated to a full embrace. And from the look on her face, she's tempted to take it a step further. ]

[Michiru hugs her back. She can see by the look on her face there maybe other thoughts crossing her mind so for the moment she's going to stop, at least until she has a chance to talk to Haruka - in private - about the issue with licensing. She knows people who break the rule get called out on the morning announcements along with getting punished and that she doesn't want for either herself or Haruka]

Let's go get you some decent clothes then I can show you to my apartment. There's some more things I should tell you about this place.

I'm all ears.

[ And eyes. And hands. And - whoops, yeah, they did have something to do. They should get shopping over with so they can go back to Michiru's place and assess the situation.

Right.

Haruka will sweep Michiru alongside her, then, glancing up to see whether she can tell where they're headed. A new life, with Michiru. Probably fraught with punishment.

Best to enjoy these quiet moments while they can. ]

[Punishment was all subjective at least. The rules really weren't all that hard to follow. Though a few might be harder for some and that was part of the reason Michiru wanted to talk to her alone.

Luckily it wasn't too far for them to go. The sector, they are entering now has a park, shops and other buildings, including an apartment building that's part of a clocktower]

It's not far. This is the sector where I live. The store is also here.

[She shakes her head] No, they aren't. They all seem to have a different focus. This one - this sector 4 - has a more old world feel I guess you could say. 2 is much more modern for example. Ironically, I believe the closest thing to a prison we have aside from the giant dome is in the Defense Force headquarters and that's only for people who cause problems, such as attacking others.

Ah, here we are. [She stops in front of the store] "The Row". We can get you something to wear here.

[ Varied locations. She'll remember that, and probably fiddle with her map later. ] Well, they've gotta stave off our boredom somehow.

[ This, however, definitely looks like the right sort of store. Haruka breezes on in, holding the door open behind her for Michiru, and takes a look around. Shopping with her is usually a pretty quick experience: she goes with her gut.

And makes a beeline for the men's section. ]

[She follows her in and to the men's section. Haruka did like to wear that more. Not that she was complaining. She rather liked it on her and Haruka made it work.

But she knows Haruka's style well enough that she can help pull items to make the shopping trip quicker. Michiru was the one who could spend hours shopping.]

And the even better part of it is that there is no currency to worry about.

[Which might explain why Michiru had so much in her closet...]

Haruka grins over a rack at Michiru. ]

A smooth, slippery fabric? Check.

Pastel? Check.

It's a keeper. She slings it over her arm and moves on to the pants, trusting Michiru to pull only the good stuff. ]

[Be afraid, Haruka. Be very afraid. ...Okay, really its not that bad. She does have two bedrooms at least in her apartment and hasn't touched the closet of the second one yet. That's restraint at least.

She gives Haruka a mock pout before smiling]

Still, I should make it easier for you. You will be sharing it too.

[Though it wasn't like there wasn't space. Since mostly what Michiru had were dresses, the dresser was nearly empty as she hung most of hers up]

[And she keeps looking for more items, maybe not as many brightly colored items as Haruka had grabbed. She smiling to herself, glad to finally not be alone here. So many people had others they knew from home and to have Haruka here made it better]

[ Haruka doesn't take long, selecting a shirt and a pair of khaki slacks from the pile she'd gathered. She can't do a thing about her new-inmate anklet, but at least it's unobtrusive (though she scowls and tries, just in case).

Emerging from the dressing room, she lobs the jumpsuit one-handed at a disposal bin for damaged items, broken hangers, etc. It lands perfectly. ]

Oops! My hand slipped. Oh well.

[ She grabs a necklace off a nearby jewelry rack and slings it around her neck, then grins at Michiru. ]

What do you think? Do I pass inspection?

Personalize yes. But you could still be seen in public without a jacket.

[She gives a playful smile then carefully hands Haruka what she found]

I'm ready. Let me show you to the apartment so we can get everything put away.

[Same sector so it won't take them that long to walk it. And as they approach the apartment building, Haruka will probably be able to see a little fluffy creature in one of the windows on the ground floor which seems to be very happy at seeing them approach]

[ Yeah, Haruka could definitely get used to this - some of this, anyway. (Bots give her the creeps.) And since she's got no choice but to be stuck here, might as well enjoy it till she finds reasons for concern.

That face in the window isn't one of those, per se, but it does give her a moment's pause. Especially with how happy it looks to see them. Them, in particular.

[Michiru smiles, knowing she spotted the eevee in the window] Every inmate that is considered to not be a danger is allowed to adopt one pet from the pet cafe. There was one day in the other dome where they had the pets loose to do maintenance and she started following me around so I adopted her the next day. Her name is Naiad.

[She gives a wave to the eevee and Naiad dashes away from the window presumably to go wait for them to get to the door. Michiru leads the way to the door of her apartment]

That is Michiru's strange alien creature. Michiru has a pet. And while it's no surprise she'd go for something exotic, Haruka would have expected a fish tank, or a fancy cat....

Haruka follows Michiru up to the door, free hand shoved in a pocket. In response to the question, she shrugs and smirks. ]

[She might have gone for fish (it was more familiar for her after all) but that really wasn't an option for pets. Besides they were literally all around.

[She opens the door and there is Naiad sitting just beyond the door, tail wagging. She vees in greeting at the new person before getting up and walking further into the apartment as though showing her the way in]
