Test Drive Meme!

[She follows her in and to the men's section. Haruka did like to wear that more. Not that she was complaining. She rather liked it on her and Haruka made it work.

But she knows Haruka's style well enough that she can help pull items to make the shopping trip quicker. Michiru was the one who could spend hours shopping.]

And the even better part of it is that there is no currency to worry about.

[Which might explain why Michiru had so much in her closet...]

[ Oh lordy, Michiru without a budget. It's incredible enough when they're working with their seemingly-inexhaustible funds back home, but...

Haruka grins over a rack at Michiru. ]

That so? Now I'm scared of your flat....

[ Hm. Is this shirt...

Oversized? Check.

A smooth, slippery fabric? Check.

Pastel? Check.

It's a keeper. She slings it over her arm and moves on to the pants, trusting Michiru to pull only the good stuff. ]

[Be afraid, Haruka. Be very afraid. ...Okay, really its not that bad. She does have two bedrooms at least in her apartment and hasn't touched the closet of the second one yet. That's restraint at least.

She gives Haruka a mock pout before smiling]

It's not that bad. Just need to move some things around.

Still, I should make it easier for you. You will be sharing it too.

[Though it wasn't like there wasn't space. Since mostly what Michiru had were dresses, the dresser was nearly empty as she hung most of hers up]

[And she keeps looking for more items, maybe not as many brightly colored items as Haruka had grabbed. She smiling to herself, glad to finally not be alone here. So many people had others they knew from home and to have Haruka here made it better]

[ Haruka doesn't take long, selecting a shirt and a pair of khaki slacks from the pile she'd gathered. She can't do a thing about her new-inmate anklet, but at least it's unobtrusive (though she scowls and tries, just in case).

Emerging from the dressing room, she lobs the jumpsuit one-handed at a disposal bin for damaged items, broken hangers, etc. It lands perfectly. ]

Oops! My hand slipped. Oh well.

[ She grabs a necklace off a nearby jewelry rack and slings it around her neck, then grins at Michiru. ]

What do you think? Do I pass inspection?

Personalize yes. But you could still be seen in public without a jacket.

[She gives a playful smile then carefully hands Haruka what she found]

I'm ready. Let me show you to the apartment so we can get everything put away.

[Same sector so it won't take them that long to walk it. And as they approach the apartment building, Haruka will probably be able to see a little fluffy creature in one of the windows on the ground floor which seems to be very happy at seeing them approach]

[ Yeah, Haruka could definitely get used to this - some of this, anyway. (Bots give her the creeps.) And since she's got no choice but to be stuck here, might as well enjoy it till she finds reasons for concern.

That face in the window isn't one of those, per se, but it does give her a moment's pause. Especially with how happy it looks to see them. Them, in particular.

Does this place have a pretty lax...pet policy?

[Michiru smiles, knowing she spotted the eevee in the window] Every inmate that is considered to not be a danger is allowed to adopt one pet from the pet cafe. There was one day in the other dome where they had the pets loose to do maintenance and she started following me around so I adopted her the next day. Her name is Naiad.

[She gives a wave to the eevee and Naiad dashes away from the window presumably to go wait for them to get to the door. Michiru leads the way to the door of her apartment]

Ready to meet her?

That is Michiru's strange alien creature. Michiru has a pet. And while it's no surprise she'd go for something exotic, Haruka would have expected a fish tank, or a fancy cat....

Haruka follows Michiru up to the door, free hand shoved in a pocket. In response to the question, she shrugs and smirks. ]

Just a bit disappointed. You replaced me with someone shorter.

[ She's still smiling, though. But wow. This is weird. ]

[She might have gone for fish (it was more familiar for her after all) but that really wasn't an option for pets. Besides they were literally all around.

Too be fair though, Naiad behaved like a cross between a lap dog and cat]

Not replaced. No one could ever replace you.

[She opens the door and there is Naiad sitting just beyond the door, tail wagging. She vees in greeting at the new person before getting up and walking further into the apartment as though showing her the way in]

[Surprisingly, it's not the kitchen. Naiad pauses to look back at them as Michiru steps in and closes the door then starts down the hall towards the bedrooms, one of her three favorite places to curl up - bed, couch that looked out the window, and Michiru's lap.

Michiru chuckles]

She's showing you the right direction.

[Probably by pure coincidence, but it was working none-the-less]

[The apartment itself had a very old world style to it, some of the walls having exposed brick. It was tastefully furnished, the furniture matching atmosphere of the apartment.

Once in the bedroom, Naiad immediately heads over to the bed and hops up to lay down right in the middle. See? There was some logic to it. Michiru was right behind Haruka and smiles]

Let me move some things and we can start putting yours away.

[ Haruka's still looking around at everything, setting her clothes down on the bed to wander more freely. ]

[ She'll be busy snooping around, thanks, trying to figure out what kind of a life Michiru has had without her - with an occasional glance for the creature on the bed. It sure looks cozy. Where Michiru sleeps. ]

[Naiad looks up as the clothes are put down near her before she lays her head back down, watching Haruka. Normally outside people didn't come into the bedroom, but her mommy seemed okay with it.

Michiru began moving things around the closest to free up space for Haruka while the other looked around. Her violin was in the corner along with sheet music. Quite a lot of sheet music actually and if she were to look, not all of it is for violin]

She is. I was lonely and she definitely helps with that. It's hard to be lonely when there's something that comes in happy to see you every morning and wanting to go for a walk.

[That was the upside to Naiad over fish. Fish were happy to see you when they were getting fed and you couldn't take a fish for a walk. Well, you could but that would be a little odd]

Okay, there's space for you so we can hang some of them up and the dresser has most of the drawers still empty as well.

[ Haruka has been continuing to silently prowl the room, soaking in everything while Michiru speaks, and by the time Michiru's finished in the closet she is - directly behind the other woman.

And attempting to encircle her with both arms, pulling her close for a kiss. Naiad sounds like quite the well-behaved sweetie, but Michiru now has a companion for a wider variety of pastimes. ]

I wouldn't mind being walked in the mornings, either.

Somehow I'm not surprised you wouldn't. Maybe burn off some of the energy you have.

On a potentially not unrelated note, how much have you read of the rules?

Normally I wouldn't be, but they do monitor us, those wardens. That is one of the rules they can tell when someone breaks. And they call you out on it along with giving you a punishment.

[She doesn't exactly want to hear her name proclaimed for any crime, but she's rather private and THAT was definitely not. She gives her smile]

What we can do is go tomorrow to the kiosk and request a license. I don't know if they'd let you get one on your first day. That way, there will be no issues with that.

Can you wait one day? We'll go first thing after morning announcements.

Still, when they come up with stupid (to her) rules like that, she can't help but resent the thought of obedience. Making sure no one hurts anyone else is one thing, but - ]

It's none of their business. [ Haruka pulls a really magnificent grump face, then sighs. She'll break all the rules she wants to, later - but she won't drag Michiru into it. ] But if they have to tag us like animals, whatever.

I know. Trust me I do. I don't like it either. I believe the thing they are trying to prevent doesn't really apply to us, but they still make it among all couples.
