It was just... I... Even showers are hard. Like sometimes, I can feel the water closing around my chest and rising higher and higher... and I have to turn off the water to keep from drowning. Even though it's not going to happen.

I'm sorry. I can't imagine how hard that must be.

[Except, he kind of could. He didn't sleep in the dark. He refused to use the walk-in closet in his bedroom, opting to keep all of his clothes in a dresser (or somewhere in the vicinity).]

Right. So I'm here. Because they said it's supposed to help, but I don't see how just talking about something can help. I don't know. It just seems odd.

I ... I'm not really sure. But, I know I feel better after talking to someone about things.

Yeah? So... uh... what do you have to talk about?

I dunno. [He shrugs and looks away, his face scrunching up.] Still having nightmares. Still can't handle small spaces. Or the dark. [And he's not going to mention that he sleeps with his door open and some kind of light on, whether it's a small lamp or the hall light.]

That sounds difficult.

[Sarah laughs then covers her mouth shocked.]

Sorry. I didn't mean... it's not funny. Not what we're going through. It was just the thought of us both being here and so miserable and it just seems so fantastic that talking about it would fix things...

I'm rambling aren't I?

[The laughing catches him off-guard, but he settles once she explains herself.]

It's okay. I get it. I'm not sure how it helps, either. We need, like ... professionals?

Yeah.

Do you want to skip this and go get ice cream or something? Ice cream usually makes things better.
