It's the only group he has any intention of attending and, frankly, he's there just as much in the hope that he can help other people with the idea or widen some horizons than to work through his own issues, even though his own issues really could do some working through.

No surprises whatsoever at who's here already, and seeing Spike by himself and looking so serious, he heads over to him with a casual grin.

"Hey. Anything on your mind I can help with, or should I shove off and let you talk to people you aren't already shagging?"

He's not sure what he expected, really. Of course Jack would show up here, perhaps even more so after the announcement that there would be no more monitoring. Weirdly enough, Spike misses the stark blue band on his wrist. It meant something, proved that he was willing to commit to this and now? Who knows. Everything is uncertain and it probably shows in the way he shifts his weight. Nervous? Nah. Uncomfortable? Absolutely.

"Figures you'd be here." He aims for snarky, but doesn't quite reach all the way. "You been keeping the answers to yourself this whole time?"

It does change things. In some ways, it's making him feel less sure of himself around Spike - okay, this is the first time he's been around Spike since the announcement, but he's been thinking about him, of course he has, and what this all means for their odd and rather uneven relationship, which is still a hell of a lot more about Ianto and him, and Ianto and Spike and a lot less about him and Spike, and probably always will be.

"Surprisingly enough, I don't actually have all the answers," he says dryly. He snorts softly and waves an arm around as if to encompass the dome in general. "I thought I had this all more or less figured out here, and then they throw a complete change to the system at us and I feel like I'm flailing and lost all over again!"

It does seem like they have less of an incentive to get along now, which is simultaneously a relief and a disappointment. Spike rather liked where they were headed and he's not sure he can keep it up if Jack's off shagging other people on the side. Everything is simpler and more complicated these days.

"Isn't that the way it goes."

Yeah, he's going to need a cigarette or five to get through this. He hauls out the pack, shaking one out.

"So, what do we do about this?"

"Yeah," he sighs, because obviously he should know better than to think he's got things sorted. The wardens always throw a new spanner in the works somehow.

He watches Spike fiddle with his cigarettes for a moment, then makes a decision and hooks a nearby chair round and sits on it, leaning forward earnestly.

"Ianto and I talked yesterday. I made it clear that I don't actually feel the need to go out and fuck anyone else at the moment. It's more about the long-term, if we do end up literally stuck here forever like in that fictional future. I love him and I don't want to be without him, but I can't face the thought of a future without any variety whatsoever, ever. He said he thinks he gets that, and we agreed communication is key and if I can at least check in with him before anything happens with anyone else, that's a start, at least."

He pauses, well aware that he's only been talking about Ianto and hasn't mentioned Spike at all. "As for you and me... I don't know. What do you want out of it? Where do you see us going? I kind of... like what we've got?"

He lights up while Jack talks, takes a drag and listens carefully and although none of this has all that much to do with him, he has to admit that it's a relief to hear they're working things out. There's been too much ridiculous drama already, will probably be even more in the future. No point in adding more to it.

He nods, taps ash onto the floor, takes a moment to consider the question.

"Like I said, I'm not one for sharing. I went along with this because it was the only option that wasn't complete shite."

Not off to a great start and honestly he's not sure where all this is going to land. There's no great romance between them, just shagging and yes that's been brewing since long before he even knew Ianto but does that really measure up? Is it necessary or will it just muddy the waters from now on?

"It's been fun, you and me, don't get me wrong. But if you're going to go out and dally, I'm not so sure I want to be part of it."

Strangely enough, this is where the jealousy comes in. He's not one to share but it was fine with Ianto, they had an agreement. Jack, fucking every Tom, Dick and Harry? That would make him feel cheated on and that's not a feeling he's all that keen to have again. Drusilla was enough.

For once, he's really listening too. Recent events have thoroughly drummed into him the importance of listening to what people are saying, as well as to what they're not.

"I'm not planning on just going out and fucking anyone and everyone just because the bands have gone," he says seriously. "That would hurt Ianto too much. But I'm not denying there might come a time when a need just gets too strong to deny, and that's what we need to work out ahead of time."

He pauses, giving Spike a wry look. "Are you actually jealous of the idea of somebody else getting to fuck me?"

He protests, way too fast, way too much. Of course he's not jealous, what are you talking about! They just fuck out of convenience, nothing more to it, certainly not a feeling of camaraderie and friendship and closeness that he saw glimpses of in the past but never got close to until they were forced into this arrangement.

It's not like he's worried about losing that now. No way.

"I'm just not interested in getting leered at by your latest conquest."

Yeah, right, totally convincing, Spike. But he lets the protest go, for the moment, because he does like what they've got going and he doesn't want to lose that.

And, hell, if he and Ianto can work it out after all that angst, surely he and Spike can too? It might just take a little more time. There's no-one else he's desperate for at the moment, and perhaps by the time there is, Spike might have come round to the idea a bit more.

(Although he's well aware that if Spike could spend a century plus with only Drusilla, coming round to this might take a good deal of time!)

"Is that what bothered you too, in that fake future?" he asks, because they haven't really talked about that. In the aftermath, it was all about Ianto, and Spike's feelings never really got much of a look in. "Like Ianto? Having to interact with the other people I was sleeping with?"

The problem here is that he's involved. If it was just a matter of Jack and Ianto sharing generously then perhaps he could let it go very quickly, but this is also about him and Jack and that complicates things. He doesn't cheat, because he doesn't enjoy being cheated on. If you're not attached to someone they can't abandon you and right now, Jack has all the power of abandonment.

"Don't remember us sleeping together all that much after you broke off." Said with some trepidation, all that is so fuzzy that he can't be sure he's remembering anything right aside from that single day.

"Don't think it would bother me if you did, as long as we weren't involved anymore."

"So that's what it comes down to," he murmurs, frowning slightly because this, right here? This is the seemingly impossible part. The idea that it's possible to be in a committed relationship and still occasionally fuck around with other people. It's what he fought with Ianto about, both on that day in the 'future' and afterwards, but Ianto seems to have come round to it. Of course, Ianto has the advantage of having spent several years around Jack already, of already having been exposed to the idea. It seems to still be very new to Spike and Spike obviously can't get his head around it.

And maybe that's okay, he realises. He doesn't have any deep and desperate need for Spike, not like he does for Ianto, and so maybe it's okay if they fuck while they want to and then, if he needs more, from someone else, they don't fuck any more. Maybe it's enough to enjoy what they've got now. It's not the same as what he's got with Ianto, and maybe that's okay.

"All right," he says slowly, and lifts his eyes to Spike's face. "So if it comes down to it at some point, you'd rather I didn't sleep with you at the same time as other people. I think I can accept that, as long as you wouldn't try to stop Ianto still sleeping with me?"

Considering that they're already in this messed up triad, on his suggestion at that. It's taken some mental gymnastics to work around it but as far as he's concerned, it's been surprisingly smooth sailing and involving more people sounds like a recipe for rocky waters. Better keep it as simple as can be.

"And you'll always be the exception. You know that, Jack." With who Ianto can dally with other than him, the only person around that he'd willingly share with. "What goes on with you two is up to you and if you and I stop messing about, I really have no say in the matter."

He leans forward then, a mischievous twinkle accompanying the dangerous dark tone in his voice. He's kidding, for the most part, but also he's not.

"But if you hurt him? I'll rip your fucking throat out."

His shoulders go down, and a small smile forms on his lips. "I think I can work with that," he agrees, relieved, but still has to clarify, "Though of course you get a say. He cares about you a lot, and about what you think and feel, and - well - it may not go so deep with me but I'll still care about how you feel too. I wouldn't want to hurt you, if I can avoid it."

His lips twitch a bit at the lean-in and mock-not-mock threat, but he addresses it seriously. "As for hurting him, you know I'd never do that intentionally. I seem to be unfortunately rather good at doing it unintentionally, but I will always regret it, and I will always do whatever I can to mend that hurt. Good enough?"

Maybe it's not so much that he doesn't think he has a say in what goes on between Ianto and Jack, as that he doesn't want one. Sure, if it actually affects him, maybe then he'll have words but if he's not a part of it then he's staying out of it. Not that it matters much. It's nice to hear he's being kept in mind, regardless.

"Good enough." He leans back again, arms crossed over his chest. "But don't think I'm not keeping an eye on you."

Yeah, he's not exactly convinced they won't manage to screw this all up again, but at least if they're both (or all) watching out for each other, then perhaps they've got a slightly better chance of preventing that!

"Yes, I think we are," he smiles, and leans back in his seat, eyes twinkling. "Speaking of watching, Ianto's going to be getting another spanking some day soon. Wanna watch? Or would you rather just enjoy the after-effects?"

It's about what he expected, but he feels it's important that the offer is made, and there are no hard feelings when it's rejected. Maybe one day, but in the meantime...

"Oh, I'm sure there'll be plenty of leftovers," he smirks, because he knows how much Spike enjoys those marks he leaves on Ianto - almost as much as Ianto does himself.

"And perhaps the three of us can get together again soon, as well?"

"Good thing we've got plenty of time to practice, then!" And yeah, he gets the significance of the Shack. Ianto and Spike have had some big moments there, and he and Spike have had some fairly revelatory talks there. All three of them there together seems like a good next step.

"Some time soon, after I've spanked the hell out of Ianto's ass, then?" he nods, and grins evilly. "We could enjoy watching him bending over to play pool with a sore ass!"
