Day 423 - Video - Open
[It had taken some playing around with this weird device thing on his head before Remy got it working, staring at the feed in silence for a while before figuring out if he had gotten it working or not, and pushing past his concerns if this was a good idea or not. He was in an unknown place that was most certainly not New Orleans, in a (ugh) tacky orange prisoner suit, with none of his weapons, his powers not working, and had been told a mass of information that hadn’t really gotten through his confusion and shock to really register. Was he really wanting to draw attention to himself?

And this was all on top of the fact that the last thing he remembered was screwing up a mission to save his father from a group of people trained to kill and there was a good chance he himself had been left for dead on the Assassin’s back yard…

He was not having a good day.]

So, [Before he paused, as if reconsidering if he should cut the feed and just explore by himself first. But he was already in this, may as well jump in with both feet.] This place really needs to up its game with welcome parties. No drinks waitin’, none of those little stringed flower necklaces, especially here, at a beach, it all just sloppy. How a homme supposed to feel welcomed?

[A moment later of silent thinking before Remy finally addressed one of the many serious questions on his mind.] ‘nd I be guessin’ that, whatever ‘nd wherever I be, that that little voice through this headset thing be right, we all prisoners here. That… kinda puts a dampener on the day.

Hi. I'm Jezebel, Jezebel Mephistopheles.

[...] It's a lot to say, but you can just call me Jez if you like.

've heard longer, [Remy offered, even if he was thinking that was quite a surname to grow up with.] But I think I can handle Jezebel, if ya ok with goin' with first names, 'nless ya prefer Jez, that be.

J-Jezebel's perfect. [She stutters, thankfully pink enough already not to have a noticeable blush.

Stay cool, Jezebel. Stay cool.]
Pleasure to meet you too, Remy. Have you really heard longer or are you just being polite? I have my guesses.

[He smiled over the feed at her choice and even added a wink to it.] Jezebel then, all sorted.

There be a few long names 've heard over m' time, some are hyphenated or got other punctuation in it, but oui. D'Estienne d'Orves, or Dufriche-Desgenettes. [To give examples of what Remy meant.] Even longer if ya take 'nto account full names, not just surnames. There an artist who was in m' world... 'nd 'ssume others, had a decent full name to him; Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso. Now that, be a tongue twister.

That's... that's really something. [Mortals. Always being a little extra.]

At least your name's easy enough to remember. So, Remy - are you settling in ok? Anything I can help you with? [Eager!] I've only been here a little while myself, but I've gotten a bit acquainted.

A little overkill, non?

Ahh, [A sigh as he raised a hand to run it through his hair, looking at his surroundings.] I guess I should handle the necessities first. [Really, a drink could wait for later, it wasn't a hard need.] Place to stay would be a good start, then guess need to get some money together. [Wait, this was a 'prison', as easy as it was to forget with how this place looked, that would mean stuff would be supplied for them, right?] So, how this all work? Everything just free to take? Food 'nd drink 'nd all that?

Yes - everything's free. And you can pick an apartment wherever you please, there are a few options.

[Pick her building pick her building pick her buil] ... Do you like cookies?

[Any other questions Remy may had were cut off with that question, his mouth open to continue talking before he paused and gave a bit of a smile as he spoke.] Been known to 'njoy them, cherie, so oui, I do.

Well, if you live near by in sector 4 - I bake a lot. So there'd be a lot of cookies nearby.

And you'd already know a neighbor! Wouldn't that be great?

Well with that kind 'ndorsement, I shall take it 'nto serious consideration. [Whether he will or not, Remy will at least say so while he's on good starting terms with her. He'll take the time to check out each of the areas first before he made a pick, assuming it made any real difference to his stay here at all.] Maybe we can trade recipes, got a few good ones m'self.

Oh, that'd be lovely. I want to learn to make more mortal food - I've only just started baking things and I've really come to like it.

[So everything is always burnt, it's a process.]

['Mortal food', huh? Was it rude to just come out and ask if she was a vampire? She had said they were around, and Remy did really need to know if he needed to find some holy water or garlic around the place.

Just... maybe trying to be a little tactful with it, if possible. No reason to go making enemies this early in his stay here.]
Ah, cherie, what do ya mean by 'mortal'? Sounds like ya excludin' yaself from that list.

Oh, I'm a demon. [Peppy as can be, tiny wings flaring out.]

My father threw me out of Hell, but it's actually kind of lucky I ended up here in a way. A lot better, as you can imagine.

[Wait. What? Wa- Demon? Like... real demons? Fire and brimstone and all that? Despite his best intentions, all those years of being away from religion, seeing Jezebel's face as she said that and how open and truthful she was being, it made him want to cross himself. Ok, sure she had those horns and wings and, well, was pink, but hell, mutants could have those too! But a real, actual demon... it wasn't fully processing through Remy's brain.]

Ahh, that so? Sounds real... harsh on ya. [Was this even a real conversation? Vampires and demons and... what else is in this place?] Glad ya got to this place, then.

It actually was one of the better days of my life. Hell's not really a lot of fun.

[But she smiles, inspecting his reaction. It's surprisingly ordinary, don't worry.] Especially when um - you know what, nevermind. This place is really receptive, to all types of people. I'm happy to be here.

Can 'magine. [Or from what he had been taught at least.

Though with how Jezebel acted, her choice of words, it didn't come across as someone who was stereotypically 'demonic' (though wasn't there a warning about the devil disguised as an angel?).]
That's, actually, real nice to hear, chere, for ya. [And him. Or anyone who was 'different'. ] Glad ya found a place like this.

Even if we weren't given a real option 'bout comin' here.

[She's Hell's equivalent of Goth, which is... pink, sweet and in search of True Love.]

Were you from Earth, or a different planet?

Earth, or I guess a version of it, considerin' this all. Ya know, the idea of there be alien life out there beyond just bacteria be just an 'ssumed idea back home, let 'long alternative worlds or... hell 'nd heaven. Dependin' who ya ask, that be. [On all of those topics.]

Take it ya, hell, be linked to an Earth?

Oh, there's aliens. And Heaven, and Hell. [At least in her dimension, anyway.]

Aliens actually destroyed the Earth - at least, the Earth I knew of. Kaplooey! Totally gone.

...Yeah, really not m' earth then, 'nd only real thing we got with aliens, that know of, be from sci fi movies 'nd supposed UFO sightin's. [Then again, maybe those UFOers weren't as crazy as them seemed, considering it all.

Then again.]
Donno if supposed ancient 'gods' fall 'nto that though. [After all, that was kind of weird, Apocalypse, even if he was an ancient mutant.]

Well, aliens tend to keep to themselves. Except when they wanna destroy planets, I guess.

[Mortals thinking they're alone in the universe is always so silly to hear.] Satan's real, though. I can tell you that much, considering he's my dad.
