Day 423 - Video - Open
[It had taken some playing around with this weird device thing on his head before Remy got it working, staring at the feed in silence for a while before figuring out if he had gotten it working or not, and pushing past his concerns if this was a good idea or not. He was in an unknown place that was most certainly not New Orleans, in a (ugh) tacky orange prisoner suit, with none of his weapons, his powers not working, and had been told a mass of information that hadn’t really gotten through his confusion and shock to really register. Was he really wanting to draw attention to himself?

And this was all on top of the fact that the last thing he remembered was screwing up a mission to save his father from a group of people trained to kill and there was a good chance he himself had been left for dead on the Assassin’s back yard…

He was not having a good day.]

So, [Before he paused, as if reconsidering if he should cut the feed and just explore by himself first. But he was already in this, may as well jump in with both feet.] This place really needs to up its game with welcome parties. No drinks waitin’, none of those little stringed flower necklaces, especially here, at a beach, it all just sloppy. How a homme supposed to feel welcomed?

[A moment later of silent thinking before Remy finally addressed one of the many serious questions on his mind.] ‘nd I be guessin’ that, whatever ‘nd wherever I be, that that little voice through this headset thing be right, we all prisoners here. That… kinda puts a dampener on the day.

Uuh I guess, but don't flatter yourself. You ain't that pretty.

I grew up inna place where everyone was a bad guy or worked for one so y'cant trust anyone. Do you think real badguys are here?

[Lies. Remy knew he was pretty, just clearly not Shad's taste.

He gave a sympathetic nod. Remy didn't have it as bad as it sounded like Shad did, but he had been raised knowing how that felt, having to always watch his back with Assassins and others who were not fans of the Thief Guild.]
Well, sounds like that all depends what ya consider 'bad guys' then, but goin' to guess ain't got many upstandin' citizens 'round this place. 'less they got pulled in despite it all, wouldn't be the first time 'nnocent people endedup in prison.

Well, I heard in America that they get money every time they get a new person in prison, so they make a profit. Maybe there's somethin in it for them computer ladies t'snatch up kids like me and folks like you what didn't do anything.

[Pretty is not the word, bruv.]

Yeah, hell of a country we got there. [Yep, people making money off others suffering... then again hadn't Rogue made a similar but lesser argument about Remy's stealing? There was something in that, something Remy was choosing to ignore. Hey! The people he steals off can afford to lose a item or two, they were rich themselves. Only the insurance companies suffered.] Wouldn't surprise me, though that little entry message just got does make them sound extra squeaky clean. Like one of those futuristic dystopias where ya get thrown in jail for just sneezin'.

[There is a chance this kid has been raised in a place where anti american sentiments were common.]

So they're just liars. It must be just be like some kind of game and we're the pieces.

They're just toying with us.

[And that was never a fun place to be, even if it was one Remy knew well. He knew his place no matter what team he was in, he knew he had certain roles to play. So, while it was not helpful in the least, Remy offered a shrug of a shoulder.] Short of arrangin' a prison break, which not sure is a great idea to do on m' first day, not sure much we can do 'bout that right now.

If anyone wants t'do that prison break thing, I'm in.

[He seems almost to eager to do that. He turns his attention back to where he came, Sector 0, or the path to it is behind him. He'd like to rip that kiosk from it's foundation.]

But even if we get out of here, where do I go? I don't wanna go home.

[Normally Remy broke into places, not out of them, but it couldn't be that much harder... if he had his tools on him. But that was a later problem, once he got to know what this place was like and what he could use to aid in said escape.

Though it all raised a good point in this all.]
That depends if we can even get back home. From what I hear we've been pulled in from all over place 'nd time, no guarantee that if we get out of wherever we be we could go home, or 'nywhere else other than here. [Since home didn't seem to be an option for Shad.]

Well, maybe not. But you're new to this place too? It's not like, if we took out those AI, we couldn't find someone who can't jury rig some tech to get us outta here.

Or maybe not. I guess this place is better n' what I had before. Sans dad.

[He doesn't seem too sad about his dad not being there. Maybe a little. But the guy shows up after nine years of being absent he wasn't terribly torn up about it.]

It's possible, innit?

After everything 've heard today so far, say 'nything be possible at this point, non? Findin' out time travel 'nd dimension travel is bein' use by some unknown group to pull in 'criminals' from different worlds kinda makes it to the top of the 'thought would be 'mpossible but actually can be done' list, at least for me.

But I think before I dedicate m'self to that idea, would want to know if there 'nyone who could do what ya sayin'.

'nd, ya know, maybe not talkin' 'bout it on open connections. [Just a thought, though Remy doubted they would be the first two to talk about such a project in this place, as nice as it looked or not.]

We got something back home called Portal Corp. They got the ability to go anywhere. Who's to say that someone from my world isn't possible for creating those AI?

But infinite realities and all that stuff. Just as likely that some other people created that world.

[He doesn't see why it matters if they're just talking about it.]

I guess you're right. But how am I gonna find who is tryin' to get out?

[That was... quite a jump forward from Remy's own world. Give him some time, he'll get use to the fact that this technology existed and it wasn't just all sci fi.

As for the other part, he offered a shrug.]
Honestly, can guess won't be hard or long to figure out if there a rebellion force or break out group 'round this place. Assumin' one even exists here. [Because... this place was rather nice, very nice in fact, it was easy to see people getting use to this and not wanting to leave. Especially if they didn't have anything or one to go back to.]

Doncha think there outta be one? We should go look for it. Cos if there's not it means everyone's decided they don't wanna bother escaping.

[Remy, this kid knows what's up.]

[Well, this is the first time Remy has been in anymore than a holding cell for a night, typically for drunken behavior during an event like Mardi Gras. He wasn't use to the idea of being restrained, hated the very concept of it.] Could be a very real thing to consider. Once ya get stuck in a place for too long, or seems 'mpossible to escape, people do start givin' up.

Stay here long enough, are you gonna care if you're here or at home?

'nd if ya don't got much to go back for. [Isn't that what this guy had said, that home hadn't been that great for him. Then again, a bad home could still be worth it if there were others back there waiting or counting on you.

Like Remy's father...]

Just... gotta see what's waitin' for us, I guess. See what 'nd who we got to work with.

[Or his. He looks guilty but he didn't feel any connection to his dad like he wished he did. Maybe a little. Sometimes they had moments of bonding and kinship but it wasn't enough.]

Yeah. Well. You need a teleporter you know where to find one.

[Yep, moving past sadder thoughts to focus on that information.] That so? What kinda limits ya got on ya? Need line of sight or can go 'nywhere ya been before?

[Remy also guessed it was only fair to share powers, since the boy did offer a hand.] 'nd would offer a kinetic charger if ya need one, but seems I am without m' powers right now. [Hopefully that was not a permanent thing. Remy didn't think he could stand this place, as nice as it seemed, without his mutation.

He would go out of his mind.]

It's umbrae--- Uh. Umbrae Geeus. [He can barely even pronounce the word it is.] Shadow teleporting.

[Kinetic huh? He didn't know what charging meant but he knew that he could tolerate kinetic stuff pretty well.]

Me too. I can't teleport but I can still jump and climb around. Too weak to do anything cool though.

[That's a new one, Remy tilting his head a bit to the side as he registered that. That...] That sounds really cool. [It did! Being able to teleport through shadows? That would be an amazing power to have access to for his line of work. Wouldn't even need to break in, just appear in darkened rooms. Less fun, but very effective.] Is it ya full body, or can ya just reach through 'nd feel 'bout through the shadows?

[We'll just ignore the fact they have been turned off currently... though it was nice having someone who could sympathize that their powers were gone.]

Both. [He is fully aware of his capacities as a thief considering his keepers often put him in the field to test him mettle. He has robbed a bank once. Not that he was proud of it, he wasn't actually. It was the worst time of his life and he still has to shake off some of that conditioning.]

It's real good for bein' sneaky.

Sounds like it. [Combined that with Shadow's coloration, the kid would easily blend in, much like Nightcrawler could... if he didn't wear a uniform with bright red on it.

Then again, Remy's had red in it. But hey, it was dark red at least.]

Sounds like it be might handy, hope whatever be dampenin' our powers here be only temporary.

[Shut your punk mouth inner monologue, red is awesome. But seriously he wears red. More more of a crimson than anything. Primary colors go great with black.]

Do we really need em? I don't see any big bads tryin' to eat us.

[info]cajunspice

[Remy did. He was so linked in with his powers that not having access to them was already draining his batteries. He felt so tired, lacking energy, so use to just having endless supplies of it to work with. Was this how others felt? Humans and non energy-based mutations? Because if so this sucked, seriously sucked.

He was going to have to take up drinking more coffee or energy drinks.]
'd rather have them, just in case, bein' prepared 'nd all that. But if we ain't in any 'mmediate danger, I will take that as well. Could use the holiday.

What kinda stuff you do back home?

[Hopefully his powers will be normal tomorrow. This kid was eager to have his strained leg heal immediately and be able to take heavy damage as if they were mere glancing blows again.]
