DAY 398 | OPEN | VIDEO
[ Have you ever been treated to heavy breathing on the end of a phone call? Well, that's the sound you're hearing now, except there's a video to go with it, which is mostly occupied by Kirk's sweat-streaked, dirt smudged, scratched up face. He looks more put upon than hurt, and from the looks of the background he's somewhere green and up high. He's tucked tight against what appears to be a tree trunk, running a hand through his hair and flashing his best charming grin under the circumstances. ]

So, probably not the smartest decision ever in my life, but I've found myself up at tree and in need of some assistance. If anyone has suggestions on how to make it out of Sector 6 with...

[ He paused and looked down, moving his lips as his eyes flicked back and forth purposefully. ]

Let's say around four very unhappy raptors. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

[ Hopefully everyone got this without static, but who knows, right? He's hoping for the best. Seems to usually work form. Usually. ]

In a spot of trouble, are we?

you cannot, mwhehehe

If that spot is currently up a tree with four rather large reptiles with way to many teeth for comfort, than yes - yes I am.

[ He gets sassy under pressure, sorry Spike. ]

[ No no don't apologise, this is the most fun he's had in some time. He's also spent enough time in Sector 6 to know fully well how to handle raptors. ]

Only four? Surely you can handle that on your own? They're like lit'le puppies, nipping at your heels. Nothing to be scared of.

[ Glad to be of service, Spike. ]

I might have recovered from worse than a bitten off heel before, but I would really rather not put it to the test.

Come now, they're really not that bad once you know how to handle them. Used to know a bloke who lived in there. He never seemed to have much trouble up in trees.

[ Because he was Tyki Mikk and nothing could touch him unless he wanted it to, but what's the fun in telling that? ]

Good thing I'm currently up in a tree, but sadly I'm lacking my usual prehensile tail to help me make my way all the way back to the barrier.

[ The sass intensifies, glare-pouting at Spike. ]

Ooh, that really is a shame. Here's a novel idea, but what if you — and bear with me here — punch them in the throat.

That always seem to work for me.

I have tried many crazy things in my life, but I think I'll keep that one unchecked on the list.

Any other ideas that don't involve me getting close enough to have my ass, hand, or any other anatomy part bitten off?

You could say please and tell me where you are. Unless you got the fire brigade to come out already.

I can't tell you where I am because I don't know, but I can show you.

[ He adjusts the feed and spins it in a slow, 360 circle for Spike to see his surroundings, including the flash of dinosaur hide. ]

I can, however, say please.

[ He peers at the screen, looking for familiar landmarks and luckily enough he's familiar enough with Sector 6 to at least know what area Kirk is in, if not the exact tree. It'll do. He shrugs off his coat, not wanting to ruin it on raptors, before heading out on this rescue mission. ]

Good boy. Sit tight then, pussy cat. I'll see if I can't get you out of that tree.

[ Probably a good idea. It would be a shame to sacrifice a good coat to raptors. Even Kirk would feel bad about that.

He rolls his eyes at Spike for the tone, resisting throwing him an ungentlemanly gesture with his finger. ]

I'll still be here, but maybe a little higher up. Can't make it easy for you.

[ Even more so since it's one of a kind, complete with sentimental value. His own skin is less worth than that. ]

Be nice, or I might change my mind on the way.

[ Empty threats, really, and he might've respected Kirk more if he had thrown up that ungentlemanly gesture. Either way Spike heads for Sector 6, swiftly moving through the vegetation to the area where he thinks Kirk might be. ]

[ Those are the most important kind, really. ]

You seem like the type to prefer claws out, so I'm calling bullshit.

[ The raptors can't get him, but they are attempting jumps at the moment, so his cool is breaking some. Had he been cool before? He likes to think so, his ego does not need that blow right now. ]

Claws? No.

[ Nothing like a dramatic entrance and so he holds off on the rest of that response until he's close enough to get the drop on the raptors. Vamping out, he lunges for the raptors, hoping to be intimidating enough to scare off one or two of them. He can handle himself but he's not so confident he can handle himself alone against four raptors in treacherous terrain. ]

[ Kirk watches from the trees, intrigued and a touch frightened, but that was the normal human response, right? He wasn't quaking in fear, though, and more fascinated than anything.

Apparantley the raptors were none to pleased to have a new predator in the area, but they had been at the hunt for awhile and were tired, but not desperate. Getting hurt now ruined chances of food later, so after a brief scuffle they retreated into the forests.

Slowly Kirk worked his way down, dropping after another quick glance around and coming over to Spike. ]

That's a hell of a talent, being able to scare of those things.

[ Well. That went better than expected. Spike makes an effort to shake off the adrenaline surge but doesn't quite manage, at least not enough to get out of game face. Give him a minute to think about baseball or something, it'll be fine. ]

Just have to show them you're the bigger bad. Predators understand that kind of language.

[ It's a hell of a game-face, but honestly? Just reminds him of a Klingon lite sort of look. Being around aliens for most of your adult life makes taking things like that a lot easier. ]

I'll take your word for it. Keep it up until we get out of here, please?

I'll do my best, but I won't say no to a piggy back - or even a princess carry. I'm secure.

Which I don't think can go as fast as yours.

[ He's learned not to expect such a thing when dealing with aliens - some were slow and some were fast and a lot of it had to do with gravity and muscle structure. Plus he was up against raptors, so he was definitely going to say he was not faster than them. ]

I was just saying in case it looks like the raptors are gaining, I'm not going to fight you on your preferred carry position.

[ But let's get moving shall we? He's moving. ]

[ Good. Then they're both moving. The faster the better, though Spike is actually surprisingly mindful of not getting too far ahead. ]

It's cute that you think you had a say in the matter, if it comes to that. Really.
