Day 380 [Video/Action][Open]
[ "The rest of your natural life." C.C. wonders how long the technology in this prison was designed to last. The "lush and abundant setting" she wakes up to fills her with a profound sense of unhappiness -- an eternity in a single place isn't what she expected when she made her most recent choices. Will she still be able to find the World of C? Is she going to go back to being all alone, just when she learned the value of not being so?

She's still laying on her back in the middle of what looks like a park, pushing buttons on her communicator to see what it does. Finally, she manages the settings for a video message.

A bored-looking young woman with amber-colored eyes and bright green hair is asking a very important question, fellow prisoners: ]

Is there pizza here?

So impatient. [ Maybe has quickened his pace. Which is maybe obvious, due to this now-slightly-labored breathing, but shut up.

[ In another minute or two, he comes properly into view -- dressed in casual clothes, dark wash denim jeans, a light khaki jacket, a sleeveless red top~~, all of which offend his sensibilities for how ordinary they are~~.

His pace slows again as he approaches her. Somehow he's not quite sure what to say, except: ]

Orange is almost no one's color, but it also clashes with your hair. [ Wrinkling nose. ]

[ His greeting, such as it is, does help to convince her it's really him. Without being able to sense him, she has to rely on his words and appearance and his ridiculous sensibilities.

She'd watched his death on television. It hadn't even been a live feed -- a replay that went on day and night in the news reports. All it had done was give a picture to the stuttered, then labored, then faint life in him as it vanished. Until she only sensed, rather than felt him. She hadn't taken the risk of sneaking back to see the body before they'd buried him; too many of the "rebels" -- Cornelia and her ilk -- would have known of her, might be tempted to use her or take revenge. It could compromise Zero if he had to intercede for her.

She'd been far away, somewhere safe, until she could move into the next, uncharted phase of her life.

One that brought her here, and put her back in front of him.

She closes the last bit of distance, chest tight from pain her Code had never protected her from. Heartbreak isn't a physical ailment, so it doesn't really heal. She has some dignity -- she doesn't run, doesn't throw her arms around him or make a big, loud show.

She just leans against his chest and fists her hands into his shirt. Shuts her eyes tightly.

No, this was not one of the possibilities he considered. Even now, with her undeniably tucked against him, it still seems so far beyond the realm of reality that he can scarcely believe it's happening.

[ Her shoulders shudder, and she bites her lip. She used to make fun of Kallen for being emotional, and here she is, getting his shirt wet. ]

It's been six months. [ Sniffles, and takes a very deep breath. Lets go of his shirt and flattens her hands against it. And she lets more of her weight rest against him. ] I was going to South Africa, since you said you had never been.
