DAY 378 [Private/Suzaku][Open Action]
[Private to Suzaku]
Hey, can you meet me at Defense Force headquarters?

[Open Action]
[Kitty has been keeping to herself since the shared dreaming. That still ended in a surprising amount of running into people, but today she's falling into her regular routine again—exercising which can become sparring if someone has a mind to join her, looking into things at Defense Force headquarters, planning some lessons for the technology classes she teaches which she'll go head and take care of in the library, some meaningful shopping of essentials and some idle shopping of random stuff because sometimes you need a baseball cap with an octopus on it? And of course, she's got to eat!]

That is very sweet of you to think I'm not completely insane. [She doesn't think that either. She has some issues that she's more aware of and ready to deal with than she has been, but insane? Nah.] Actually, now that you mention it, I'm probably in the running for that title back home. [Oh, there were some super geniuses out there, but they mostly worked for Apocalypse. [And the ones like Reed Richards and Tony Stark never achieved the level of notoriety they might have in other versions of her world.] Without the "human" qualifier.

What, are you going to prove me wrong? [Don't, please. Secret insanity is worse than the honest kind that you can see going in.] You're human enough... unless that's an insult, in which case I didn't just say that.

No proving you wrong.

And it... It's complicated. [In some ways you could call her human. It's hard to say if the biological difference is enough to make her stand that far apart from the human race. But also, saying it like that can sound like the default or something to aspire to and both of those feel offensive for someone who is fine being who they are.] I won't take it as one this time.

It's complicated at home, too. [But not in a way that he can explain well without potentially saying something offensive.] One of the cylons joined the Colonial Fleet. She wants to be treated like a human without giving up her identity... it hasn't been working too well for her.

They're usually your enemy, aren't they?

Usually. I mean, they did wipe out most of humanity... people have every reason to treat them all like enemies.

But some of them are different.

Who was doing the wiping out in your world? Humans or mutants?

The mutants. Don't worry. I'm solidly anti-genocide

I wasn't worried. You scare me less than most of the humans I work with at home.

You say that like everyone scares you to some degree.

[A noncommittal shrug.] Anyone—human, cylon, mutant, whatever—can do things that make them worth fearing.

You're not wrong. And yet we still keep coming back for more hits of companionship. Hard addiction to shake.

So people are masochistic junkies regardless of their race or time or universe of origin. That's either comforting or depressing.

Might as well go with the answer that makes you feel better.
