That is what I think, too. It hurts to lose someone we care about, but there are more memories than just painful ones. I have many good things I can think about that I experienced with my friend. And I can protect what she sacrificed herself to defend. It can hurt but hurting is human, and we cannot just have the good parts of that. Sometimes we need the difficult ones, too. And I am sometimes still very sad. Sometimes I cry thinking of it. But I can smile, too. I would rather have the pain if it means keeping the wonderful parts as well. [Which is easier than saying the emotions she threw away manifested themselves as a sister robot who showed her the importance of all that before vanishing.]

Yeah.

[ What else can he say? Yes. Yeah. That's what it is. You take the good with the bad and that's not just Maeve, that's Emily and Elle and Gideon and his mom and dad too he guesses and all the people who he got to know here and then lost, whether forever or for a little while. He's 31 years old and he's still trying to figure this out but that's okay, he thinks. It's all okay. ]

Hey... if you ever want to talk about all this, I'd be happy to listen. It's- hard. Finding someone to talk to.

[ Someone who listens without feeling bad about it, without taking it on as their problem, without trying to fix the unfixable. ]

[She thinks of the old lady she met by Paulownia Mall, the one who lost her cat, the one that needed to go be alone to die. It hasn't made any sense to her at the time, how the old lady could accept it. She had cries about it, helplessly frustrated by something she could not understand. She still is it sure she does. Death hurts and it's lonely and sad and she is never going to be able to understand it fully. She can't give people answers, but talking about things sometimes helps make it seem like such a frightening mystery.]

Thank you. I would like that some time. And I would like to let you talk as well. If you want to, of course. I think sometimes it helps.

Yeah... yeah, I think so too. Talking helps.

[ And he probably needs to do it more than he realizes. Who would've thought that a tiny robot girl could provide the outlet he needs. ]

But before then, movies where things blow up. I think we both need that today, hm?

[She's good to talk to. Maybe because she doesn't know how to be anything but straightforward. Or because she knows how much it can help to have someone understand your emotions. But her emotions right now are primarily happiness at the mention of the movie and she smiles another one of those big, sweet smiles.]

Yes! Let's go!
