He sure left in a hurry this morning, so quickly that Leia didn't even get a chance to ask him what was bothering him. Something was; she could tell. In fact, he felt really off in ways that she couldn't quite put words to. She may be new to sensing his emotions in the Force — or, rather, being consciously aware of them — but whatever he was feeling this morning didn't quite read like Han to her.

Stepping out to run a few errands of her own told her all she needed to know, as she was assaulted by a wave of intense emotional flares the moment she got near a decent grouping of people. There was definitely something going on today, and she'd put credits down on Han being affected.

It's not until mid-afternoon that she finally comes across him, and she's near furious with worry when she does.

"Where the hell have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you!"

Also not a usual Han thing is how he nearly jumps out of his skin at the sound of her voice. He flinches, and immediately hates that he just flinched.

"Yeah, well," and he's hoping now that just by raising the volume on his response he can mask how he's actually feeling, "not like I knew you were looking!"

He'd suspected, sure, but that doesn't count.

That flinch, the way he tries to mold his words into something resembling anger, and the way the Force ripples around him like he's a vessel trying to stay afloat in sea of choppy, uncertain waves is enough to drain the anger right out of her. It's quickly replaced with concern, and Leia is wordlessly invading his personal bubble (since when has she needed permission to?), lifting a hand to cover his forehead.

"What's wrong? Tell me."

And it's a little disturbing how much she hopes he's just sick and not affected by whatever happens to be afflicting the dome today.

"How should I know?"

The volume from before is gone entirely, and now Han just sounds deflated and run down. He doesn't even try to dodge Leia's hand, or make a joke about how she's checking his temperature. All he's got is some mild annoyance, the remnants of what would otherwise be something closer to rage at the vague sensation that someone else is responsible for whatever is going on in his head.

Checking his temperature shouldn't be this easy. Han was never this complacent, without complaint, or lacking in sarcastic quips. This isn't right.

"Something's wrong," she insists. "They're doing something." The wardens or whoever was in charge of tampering with them all — doing something to him and everyone else that felt terribly off-kilter today. "I can feel it."
