Day 363 | Action + Video
[As of the morning of the day, there is a menace in Quatro Park. Maybe not a terrible menace but Zeno is most definitely trudging through the foliage to find each and every single one of the pieces of artwork before then proceeding to crawl all over them. Literally. Each one becomes a jungle gym to him as he attempts to use the height of the statues to see a longer distance.

Mostly he's doing it to spot another sculpture but if he happens to see someone else then that's fine too. Good luck trying to get this grinning fool down from where he's at.

Eventually Zeno does turn his attention back to the weird looking device where he heard the voice. Poking at it until it suddenly turns on.

Have a teen blinking at it in confusion.]

Hello? Is this how Zeno talks to other people? [He seems to decide that it is.] Heeeelllllloooooo other people! [Cue him waving at the device though he isn't entirely sure that anyone can even see him.

Seriously, what a cheery guy he is.]

Zeno's name is Zeno and Zeno is new to this place. Hmm, what did the voice call it again?

[He wasn't really paying that much attention to it.]

If Zeno's here then maybe Zeno's friends are here too! Everyone should keep an eye out for Miss - she's short with red hair and Mister is tall with dark hair, then there's Hakuryuu, Ryokuryuu and Seiryuu. Don't forget mom! Mom makes the best food ever!

[Those descriptions are not helpful in the least.]

[Unfortunately. Kija has already discarded his communication device. The last thing he needs or wants is for a voice within some sort of enchanted object to inform him that he's committed unreasonable crimes and is to spend his life in prison. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Instead he is focusing his attention on the much more important task of ~~pointlessly~~ clawing at the object upon his ankle that, despite the strength that he should possess, will not fall off.]

How dare they...! To imprison one of the sacred dragons under such ridiculous charges! [ Stuff happens! And any kills that he has racked up have been justified ones. Must he add the wardens to such a list too? He prefers that he not have to.] If I find that one hair as been harmed upon the princess's head... [Wherever she might be-] the wrath of heaven will surely be upon this place!

[ . . . It's the sight Zeno might see from his perch up on one of the sculptures, while Kija sits a ways off, fuming to himself and hacking at the strange contraption upon him.]

[In all honesty, he wasn't expecting any of the dragons to be around despite the fact that he asked for them. Zeno can't sense them and never before has that sense failed him. Not once.

So since he can't feel them, he doesn't believe any of them are here in this strange world. Though that doesn't mean the others aren't here. His dragon sense does not extend to two of the members of their group so either of them could easily be here.

Which is why he almost looses his grip on the sculpture when he spots a head of familiar white hair. For a moment Zeno just hangs there, trying to figure out just exactly how they can possible be so close and yet he can't even feel the other.

There are no answers to be found, not even as far back as he can remember.

After a moment, he hops down and heads off in the direction where Kija was. Then Zeno pops out of foliage in a single instant as if everything he's known was suddenly questioned.]

What are you doing, Hakuryuu?

That doesn't mean that he can't be taken by surprise, however. Which is why when Zeno suddenly springs up from the nature around him he practically tumbles backwards. Zeno...? Are you trying to give him a heart attack!?

The startle turns to surprise which turns to a moment of relief.]

Zeno. [Why couldn't he approach him like a normal person? Particularly in a moment like now. To be honest, he's never felt... so out of sorts as he does in this moment.] You should not sneak...

[ . . . "sneak up on others like that." But ordinarily he would have felt his presence. His inability to sense Zeno, and the lack of strength in his claw. . .

His brows draw down. With a shake of his head he starts again, his expression a complicated mixture of emotions. No. Right now, more importantly-]

I am relieved to see you. Although maybe not within this place too.

[Suuuure a brave dragon warrior that nearly tips over from a little bit of surprise. Kija has relied on his dragon sense for most of his life so for him to suddenly be without it is strange. Very strange.

Zeno feels the same way.

But he still greets Kija with a smile - the ever present one he always has.] Zeno didn't sneak. Hakuryuu just wasn't paying enough attention.

[He leans over to see the ankle bracelet which just like his own. It doesn't seem so tough that the clawed hand of the White Dragon couldn't be able to get it off.]

This place doesn't seem too bad. [Despite the fact that they are supposedly here for crimes they've committed.]

[Still in Sector 3, but away from the park, there's a girl sitting on a bench in a row of cherry trees. She's quite lost, as she didn't understand the explanation given by the Wardens. What was a Prison? Or a Dome? That's all a part of Heaven since she was dying, right?

She doesn't know what to do, so she just stares at the sky full of ocean from her seat. It's oh so pretty, how the waves shine with the light. She thought Heaven was above the clouds, but it turns out it's all water.

A maintenance bot passes by, and Kaya tries to get its attention. It ignores her call and her smile, however.]

Hello there, mister god! Hello...? Um, excuse me...

[And it's gone. Whether you've seen the girl before or not, her voice should carry through the silent street.]

Oh, t-that's okay. Sorry to have bothered you.

[She goes back to staring at the ocean. It's her first time looking at a sea. What should she do next? Everything was so strange, as expected from Heaven.]

[Eventually he wanders away from the park to explore the area even more. Of course the sky of ocean is pretty amazing but what's more amazing is that there's a whole city under the water. Normal humans can't live beneath the sea.

He almost nearly walks straight passed the individual sitting on a bench.

Almost.

Zeno stops several feet away, his back to here because he's not certain what he just saw is real. No no, it's not. She's not.

She's been dead for a long time and he's come to accept that. Without turning around, Zeno speaks up.]

Kaya?

[She'd recognize that voice everywhere. It had been the only voice besides hers she had been hearing for a while, of course. But it must've been a trick of her mind, or maybe a prayer from Earth coming to her.

Despite being ready to die, Kaya didn't want to say goodbye to him. Not yet.

Without taking her eyes from the water above and not noticing what was close, she just sighs.]

[It's a voice he's forgotten. That's how long it's been. Any time he thinks of her, Zeno can't recall what she sounded like - what her touch felt like and sometimes he thinks he'll forget what she looks like.

None of those are his biggest fear though.

What he fears is that he'll forget how she made him feel. So far he hasn't but if he lives long enough (like Zeno suspects he will) he will forget more and more. More about the people he's cared about, more about the things that are important to him.

Even though some details have been lost to the years, the moment he hears her voice it all comes rushing back. It's as if the sky above has opened up and a downpour of salty sea water has cascaded over him like the rain never could. His heart pounds in his chest because while Zeno remembers the good times he spent with Kaya, remembers the happiness that had come into his life when she did - he also remembers the grief.

He remembers holding her hand as it grew colder, as it grew thinner, as it lost its softness until there was nothing left but bone. Zeno recalls calling to the heavens in a plea to a dragon that never granted his wish. There's a feeling of dirt beneath his fingernails as he dug a grave for the earthly remains of his wife and Zeno clenches his hands now as though it will shake it.

Tears threaten to overtake him but Zeno can't show her that face. He just can't. He has to smile and yet it seems an impossible task to do. So he takes a brief second though it feels like a lifetime. Only then does he turn around. It's not the smile he's shown to others in more recent times, it's a sad one that only those who know him will be able to tell is sad.

She isn't looking at him and every fiber of his being is screaming at him for her to glance his way.]

Why is Kaya here?

Did he also die...?

But she wanted him to live so much it hurt her, daily! And there he was. True that she was going to wait for him, but she hadn't expected him to appear immediately. That's wrong! Had he passed away from her disease, it should've taken him a long time to get that sick. Did time move slower on Earth or maybe...?

No, he couldn't. Oh gods, she didn't even want to think about him, rushing to come to her side like that. But no matter how he died, it was still her fault, wasn't it?]

No, why... why is Zeno in Heaven?! You should be... You couldn't...!

[And just like that, she breaks down and sobs.]

[Now that she's looking at him, Zeno almost feels... uncertain. How she came to be here is unknown and what she remembered last even more so.

Though it doesn't take long for him to figure it out when she starts speaking. Even worse are the tears that follow.

Every part of him wants to close the distance but his body is frozen in place. These aren't happy tears and of course she believes him to be dead because that what she last recalls. The last thing she probably remembers is lying in bed with her hand in his. Nearly two thousand years later and it comes to his mind so easily now.

So why can't the rest of it?

Swallowing the sudden lump in his throat, Zeno takes a step towards her hesitantly. Then it becomes easier and he's suddenly standing right in front of her.

He lays a hand upon her head gently before pulling her in so that her tears soak into his jumpsuit. Being so close he can easily breath in her scent - of flowers and herbs and clean fresh air. Everything that had once been his home.]

It isn't heaven. Kaya's not dead and neither am I.

[Since her death he's taken on several of her mannerisms - speaking of himself in the third person is one but he drops it for now. He can't be exactly the same Zeno that she remembers but he can be close.]
