Superhero Party Mingle
The time has come! All of the stars have aligned at it is...

Superhero Party in Quatro Park! Some decorations have been put up, mostly appearing to be comic book action words like 'BLAM!' and 'POW!'. There is a table for food with picnic-ish style fare. A few placards for the food are mildly punny for another who has read comic books. Another table is set up for make your own masks for those that weren't prepared. There are a few games out, but periodically Carl will host the foam sword "battles" set to music that is not fitting for a sword fight just for amusement value.

Anyone can come to the party even if they just want to be themselves and not pretend to be a superhero.

Okay.

[Carl goes ahead and "picks" the song. What they get is Mercury from the Planets Suite. Okay, so it has dramatic moments, but not nearly enough. So they'll only do a minute or so of this]

I think this is good.

[OOC: I've always wanted to play this, but I was't in a high enough band in college to do it.]

[Sarah takes a moment to listen before holding her sword up en garde.]

Ready when you are.

[ooc: Wow, that is really ironic]

[Carl lifts his sword as well. This will be a good opportunity to show others how this should work]

Ready.

[And he starts, of course making sure it matches the music]

[Sarah raises her sword, though she's not quite sure what she's going to do yet... leaving a perfect opening for Carl.

[He's definitely making a move, though it has more showmanship than a normal fight would so it will take longer for him to actually hit her]

[The sight of him coming at her is funny in a way. She giggles once, then sets to trying to block it... appropriately for the music.]

[And she does succeed in blocking, just because it is more fun to draw out the "battle" as much as possible. He'll pull back like he is going to attack her again, but he's clearly letting her have an opportunity to go for him]

[Sarah twirls as she goes for him, trying to come up with as many stylistically complicated flourishes as she can. Now that she's figuring it out, Sarah's really quite good at making an extremely complicated but perfectly fitting fight. Until the point where she lifts her arms and splits the white button up shirt she's wearing down the back. Thank goodness for the tank top underneath.]

Oh no!!!

[Carl was rather enjoying this. As Sarah began to put more flourishes into the fight so did he. It was definitely more fun that way. When she raised her arms up, he heard the fabric rip, but wasn't quite sure what it was until her reaction. Oops]

Oh!

[And that's the point when he stops the music and pulls off the cape that he's wearing and offers it to her]

[Sarah takes the cape and wraps it around herself as she tries to assess the damage. It's just the button up that damaged, but it's enough to ruin the effect of the costume.]

Well, nothing too bad. But it does ruin the costume. And I so liked the idea.

[Carl practically stands guard while she does. It was just a shirt ripping, but he seems very serious about it, wanting to protect her]

We can always find you another one.

[Sarah unwraps herself from his cape and hands it back to him.]

It's actually easier to fight in just the undershirt. [The one with a little green worm wearing glasses and reading a book happens to be scrawled across her chest.]

And then I can try and figure out what the Book Worm's actual costume is. Not just her alter ego.

[Carl takes the cape back when she holds it out and puts it back on]

Yeah, I guess it would be easier. That would be cool, coming up with her actual costume.

[It goes better this time. And even if it is about matching movement to music, and even if Sarah is doing an excellent job of that, she still goes in for the kill.]

[And he's going to fight back with her, perfectly in time to the music. He had better reflexes to keep from getting "stabbed" but he decided to let her have the kill. Cue dramatic death]

All hail Bookworm the Victorious!

Very good. That was fun.

Kind of similar to something we did in school. The improvised thing to music, not the fighting with foam swords. I just thought that this would be more fun.

Well, maybe it was just something my teacher thought of. Hard to tell. I don't know if other classes did the same thing.

And it looks like other people want to try...

Great.

[Both that she liked it and that other people, having watched them, wanted to try. He handed his sword off to someone else before taking Sarah's hand (completely innocently intended) so they can head off the performing area]
