[Morning. She's not quite awake yet, but she feels warm and safe and pressed close to someone and it hasn't quite had time to feel wrong yet.]

[Single again. It's getting to be shorter each time. One day is definitely a record. She keeps reaching for her communicator to call Ianto or even Reid, but she keeps putting her hand down again. It's probably starting to look like some kind of bizarre exercise routine to the casual observer. Instead, she settles down in her office at the Defense Force headquarters to look through some of their research even if her mind isn't really on it. Apparently there was also a murder yesterday. She needs to check that out. Part of what everyone went through or standard murderous tendencies?

The door is open in case anyone wants to come in. And if you do, you might notice the band on her wrist which has been blue for quite awhile is now a bright red.]

Hey... Um, are you busy? You want to do something? We could talk about quantum mechanics or eat ice cream. Or do both I guess. They aren't really mutually exclusive kinds of activities.

The wardens can place limits on natural abilities, presumably ones that they find threatening. They could do the same with technology. Alternately, they could deny my request, or they could misunderstand how replicators work and provide a unit that malfunctions disastrously. Failing that, there is no guarantee that this prison is composed of subatomic particles that a replicator could rearrange. Is there matter in a virtual universe? If there is, does that matter obey the same laws as normal matter at subatomic levels?

	Well, it'll be a virtual replicator. Those probably use virtual subatomic particles. We should write a paper on it sometime. I just think it could be worth a shot. Because [pausing because this part is so engrained at her core that she's not even sure how to put it into words, but she manages to find some] whatever else I am, I'm still an X-Man, and we fight to help people even when there's nothing in it for us which is most of the time.

	I admire that, although I can't imagine it. Everything that Starfleet does—exploration or fighting or saving planets in distress, everything—benefits us. We become safer or more knowledgeable. If there was nothing to be gained from our actions, maybe Starfleet would fall apart... or maybe we are as heroic as we think we are, who can tell. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

If you would be half as good at oppressing as you are at dancing, I agree. [He crumples up his starchart napkin and flicks it across the table at her.] Can I get you anything? I came here for quantum mechanics and ice cream, and I intend to enjoy both of those things before I leave.

[She smiles at that demand.] Rocky road in a waffle cone with as many scoops as the cone can handle before losing structural integrity. Quantum mechanics when you get back.

[Tonight, she kind of hopes she doesn't need the ear. She appreciates it. She does. And she still needs it, but she also needs more time to just enjoy life. To live and move forward and not always be waiting and looking back. She's not sure she can really pull off a night like that, but she'd like to give it a shot.]
