Day 296 — VR MarinaNova — After the doors close
[Maybe you saw a glowing door open and avoided it or maybe you have no idea anything just happened, but you know something is up now because everything just went dark. Seriously dark. No ambient light of any kind. The kind of dark that makes you wonder if something's wrong with your eyes. Oh, and there's a siren going off from the speakers on the floating island. Don't worry, that will end in about thirty minutes, but you're not so lucky when it comes to the dark.

The kiosk was open earlier, but it's gone dead now and the maintenance bots are in the same condition. As a bonus some people are missing too! Welcome to Day 296.]

(OOC: This mingle is for those who did NOT go through the doors. EVENT INFORMATION)

That's good then, you have friends here.

[He knows one of them, actually, but not from the context she's given him.]

Doing okay?

Alive thus far. Regretting this far more than I hoped I would. This was a mistake. Not to bother you but is there anyway you can get us down again?

Same way I got us up, if you want to chance it. I can aim us toward the beach if you want a softer landing. [Though he's a little afraid of accidentally throwing them in water, not being able to swim and all.]

That sounds brilliant. I'm sorry I pulled you into this.

[He chokes on a laugh. It's not brilliant at all. He's still aching from the first jump. Why is she trusting him to do it again? He stretches out a hand and moves toward the sound of her voice until he finds her again.]

I wanted to help. I'm sorry you got hurt.

[Gwen thirsts for some sort of connection outside of the darkness, but he had not seemed keen on touching. So she wraps her fingers carefully around his wrist instead, holding his hand seems... Unfair.]

It's alright. I've been through worse.

[The type of contact doesn't matter, as long as there is contact. He doesn't mind holding hands for shadowtravel, but he appreciates this gesture. Few people catch on that he doesn't like to be touched without him outright saying so - and in the dark no less.]

Just like last time. Don't let go.

[He knows where the beach is. This trip should be easier, less painful. He goes there all the time. Closing his eyes, he pictures it, sees where he needs to go, and summons the dark to take them there.

He's panting, and his heart is racing, when they spit out on the sand. No hard falls, maybe a bit of a stumble. They can hear the water moving somewhere in front of them.]

[The Darkness around her turns compact. She supposes that it would have been easier if she had been able to see earlier. Like this it's just like being tossed, a little too literary, from a rooftoop.]

Bloody hell, sod off, piss poor bloody darkness I am NEVER turning off a light again do you hear me, not ever, I am going to SHOVE you the fuck away from me!

[The scream isn't out of pain. She was not hurt by the fall. She is angry, and frightened and the sea in front of her that invisibly licks the shore fills her with such a relief that she has to scream to be rid of all of her emotions.]

[Nico drops to his knees, just glad that they are safe and uninjured (this time). They're still stuck in the dark, and he still has no idea what is going on, or where anyone else is, but at least they're off the roof. Shadowtravel can be taxing anyway, but the dome makes it worse, never mind taking along a passenger, never mind doing two trips so close together.

He snickers at Gwen's outburst. He doesn't mean to. He can understand how she must feel, though the dark doesn't affect him the way it does others. Under normal circumstances, he would feel quite comfortable in it.]

[A last wordless scream puts an end to her string of profanities about the dark, and she lies still in the sand. She hears Nico's laughter and she closes her eyes. Rather chosing the darkness then being a victim in it.]

Thank you love.. I think I'm... I think I'll just lie here for a bit.

I don't mind. I might fall asleep. Will that be okay?

[He won't, if she needs the company, but he's very tired now, the steady roll of the ocean is pulling him under. He stares upward at the dark, and when he closes his eyes it looks the same.]

You sleep love. I might too. Maybe wake up to some sort of light.

God I wish there were some stars.

Stars would be nice. [At least they would be something to look at. He pulls off his jacket and rolls it into a pillow and lays back in the sand. He's going to be itchy and irritable when he wakes, but right now he doesn't care. Sleep tugs him away from any discomfort.]
