[She wakes up on the floating island with the blaring and vibrating of the giant speakers below her. She can't really process the message, and as it turns out that doesn't really matter to her at the moment because everything that happened yesterday is taking on a whole new context. She threatened Reid. She threatened Reid. He looked so hurt. So did Nathan. She reaches up to call him only to remember she left her communicator by the bed. She'll just have to get there herself then. Without another moment's delay she phases, dropping right through the island and getting herself to the apartment as fast as she can.]

Reid! Nathan!? [Calling out their names as soon as she drops in through the ceiling of the kitchen as it turns out.]

[Nathan is still in the hospital. Reid is...wherever he went. The apartment is all hers at the moment and she has no intention of going back there until she's too exhausted to be awake long for it. She's not sure if she wants to avoid people or be with them, so for now she's just walking without paying much attention to where that takes her.]

	She? [Since when is there a she? Kitty recently got her communicator back from the night stand, but with Nathan in the hospital and Reid upset she didn't exactly stop to check it.] What happened? I stabbed someone. [He answers in a hurry, reluctant to have Reid be the one to tell her, but the words are hard to say. He had actually hurt someone. There's no taking it back and, without a surplus of anger keeping other emotions at bay, that... really sucks.] Veronica Mars. I don't know how bad it--how bad what I did was, I ran away...

[Nathan is making a concentrated effort to not cry. Seriously, he has no business crying; he wasn't the one who was stabbed by a knife-toting teenager.

(Okay, he technically also stabbed himself, but he deserved that.)]

	[ Knife-toting teenagers are also allowed to cry. Especially if they just tried to kill themselves, but of course that falls firmly under the umbrella of "things Reid is not great at" so instead of perhaps showing the right amount of reassurance he just frets, tentatively taking a step or two closer. ] They announced an assault charge. 	I'm guessing she didn't attack you first, huh? [This isn't great. And the last time she and Reid spoke on this subject he sounded adamant he would deal with Nathan if he ever hurt anyone. She got the feeling he meant he'd kill the boy and she's not okay with that even if she's also not okay with him stabbing people at random...that's her job.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[Reid's reaction is calmer than Nathan had expected. This strikes the teenager as unusual, but he isn't in the right frame of mind to consider what it could mean.]

So I'm not a murderer yet. [He's too convinced that he will be eventually to sound properly relieved. If Reid wanted to kill him to prevent that, he wouldn't be inclined to put up a fight.

Nathan just shakes his head in response to Kitty's question.]

It isn't like we didn't know the situation. [That there has been a struggle for awhile. That he already reached a boiling point once before he ever came to this prison.]

We should talk about doing something to prevent it from happening again. [She had already talked to the wardens and Reid. If she'd talked to Nathan then maybe it wouldn't have gotten this far, but then she kept hoping he could keep it from getting this far on his own.]

	That's not preventing it from happening, that's making it happen! Keeping you alive is just as important as stopping you from hurting anyone else. [ Whoa, that came out sharper than he meant for it. [She's a little surprised by Reid's answer after the talk they'd had. Or was it a fight? She's not displeased, but also more than a little worried about her guy. She glances over at him and then looks back at Nathan.] I talked to the wardens and it's possible to volunteer for a restraint that could potentially keep you from hurting people, but otherwise not interfere with, you know, life.

Whatever. [It's terrible to be so dismissive when Reid is adamant about ensuring that he doesn't die, but Nathan doesn't care. He's too drained to argue and too spiteful to refrain from reminding the doctor that he thinks that he's wrong. If Nathan has to keep fighting himself, he wants Reid to know that any collateral damage is partly his fault.

(He doesn't know how to feel towards Reid. There might be other people here who care if Nathan remains alive, but Reid is the only one he can blame for saving him. He wants to push the doctor away forever almost as much as he wants to latch on to him and try to believe that he can be fixed.)

It's easier to focus on Kitty. Far less complicated.] What kind of restraint? How would it work?

[ Kitty should be worried, partially because Reid very much takes responsibility for what happened last night. Deanna warned him, he knew something was up, he talked to Nathan earlier that day and he still didn't do anything to prevent it from happening.

He really can't help anyone anymore, can he?

So instead of responding, he withdraws to the role of a silent spectator for the time being. Let's Kitty deal with the possibility of restraints. It was her idea, anyway. ]

It would be a barrier collar of a sort. A barrier kind of like a smaller version of the one around the dome would come up only when it detects hostile intentions from you. The wardens will fit you with it if you agree to wearing it.

It doesn't mean stop trying or stop working on this, but it should act as a fail safe for you to keep anyone else from getting hurt. [She even wonders if it would come up to prevent him from harming himself.]
