Day 289 || Open Audio
[ The audio is a little fuzzy, Clay realizes, but that doesn't matter. He's not looking for quality, here, and he's not showing his face. The people who need to hear this message will know who he is soon enough. ]

So, Marina. It's a balmy sort of day. Cool, pleasant, nice. You know, besides being stuck a thousand leagues under the ocean. Makes everything distinctly less pleasant.

[ A long, long pause, before Clay laughs, manic and strung out. ]

What's your stance on revenge, Marina?

You never answered, by the way. You tactfully avoided the question asked.

What's your stance on revenge?

My stance is that making vague threats in full view of whoever you've got a problem with and everyone with the power and inclination to stop you probably isn't that effective.

Beyond that, personally? I mean, everyone thinks about keying someone's car now and then, right? But my life's not really that dramatic, so. I don't know.

You're missing out on one of life's simplest pleasures. [ Clay sounds sympathetic, but haughty, like it's funny Brain thinks that way. ]

[In all honesty, Brian’s just judgmental, this seems like… showboating. Unnecessary posturing. If you're going to kill someone, why waste time and put them on alert?

But on that note he’s not exactly inclined to spill anything honest, so further lies it is.]

I guess you could look at it like that. Or you could focus on the not having a reason part, which kinda seems significant, you know? I’m not complaining about that.

I have a reason. I have a good reason, too. [ Reid is already on alert, this just means Clay hasn't given up, that he won't for as long as either of them breathes. One little hit across the back of his head isn't going to convince him to back off. ]

If you say so. I'm guessing someone else gave you the better ways to solve your problems speech already.

You'll always get those speeches in life and half the time they're by the guilty party, and half the time they're complete bullshit. An eye for an eye, as one might say, works far better.

I just try to stay out of trouble in the first place.
