[ half hour later and elena actually does have a bunch of hair products and instruments out in her room. she might have only been half-joking. plus hey, if zatanna's never mastered the straightener, elena can show her the tricks or at least do it for her.

she might have also been doing all this because she's happy zatanna's coming over. and because that's what elena gilbert does when she's anxious or worried: busies herself with menial tasks and/or household chores. (because catching up with zatanna means one big thing: telling her the truth.)

anyhow, she's opening the door and giving zatanna a smile. ] Hey. Come in.

[ A hug is definitely preferable. Elena is only momentarily surprised by it - and then she falls into it. Even this kind of casual affection is something she's avoided for so long. Something she's missed, especially with Zatanna. She tries to cover her moment of grief with a smile as they pull apart, but Robin Jr. comes to her rescue. ]

Oh my god, don't apologize. [ she leans down to pet him and scoop him up. ] He's adorable.

[ elena nods, and is about to mention - but robin jr.'s yelp cuts her off. funny story: there is one present. she might've gotten attached to one that followed her around a little bit that day. she gets up and heads towards the rolling, suddenly squeaking tribble perched on at the top of the sofa. ] Except for those. [ she scoops the little guy up. ] So you haven't met... honestly I've been calling him triblet. Or, well, Mr. Furball sometimes too.

[ she walks back over, Mr. Furball cradled in her arms. ] I also have a soft spot for the incredibly caring and amazing. [ she sits next to zatanna and ponders this pet predicament for a moment. ] Maybe he just needs to - get used to one of them. See they're not dangerous or going to fill up the dome anymore. [ she places mr. furball one the ground, a good distance away from robin jr. the little tribble purrs and rolls in a circle. ]

[Catching the hint, Zatanna then softly calls for the little pup, who takes a moment longer to whine before coming to his mommy's side. Puppy-shimmying the whole way. His eyes peer up at her in the most pitiful of manners, and she gives his head a light scratch.]

Come here, you.

[She reaches down to pull him into her lap. Hoping that at least the warmth of her presence would help. Once he was secured enough, she turned his head towards the tribble.]

It's alright. See? Friendly.
