Day 265 [Video : Encrypted to DF] [Action : Open]
[Video | Encrypted to Defense Force members only]

This fluff thing is going from ridiculous to problematic and veering toward dangerous. They're in virtually every area of the prison now, even inside most buildings. Food supplies are starting to run low and the information we have indicates that they'll just keep reproducing at this rate left unchecked.

There's been a suggestion to eliminate them. Let's call that plan G. Now we just need plans A - F.

Knowing this place I expect the wardens to have it wrapped up by morning, but I don't want to leave it all in their caring hands. We need people on patrol making sure no one is actually buried under them and we need people collecting and protecting remaining food stocks not just for the team but so we can be prepared to distribute it to everyone if it comes to that. I think pushing them into sector 6 could be an option for us. [Of course they will likely get killed in there, but it is less direct.] But I want to hear more options. Get creative. Get chatty.

We need to do what we need to do, but don't forget these are designated as pets and harming them comes with a price tag since that's one of the rules around here.

One more thing. When we have the man power to dedicate to it I want the investigative team checking into souls and restoring them. [Yes, she really just said that.]

[Action | Open]

[She has been and will be out and about trying to assess and deal with the problem. She can also be found at headquarters.]

I have Helen looking into a way to control their metabolism. She's going to see what she can find out in some tests. I guess her world has had similar challenges.

If we contain them do we really have a shot at finding them all or does the population keep growing beyond what we find? Is it better to set aside an area for us—all of us—that we keep clear of them and well supplied? [She's not sure which direction she wants to go. Or how big an area either needs to survive.]

Then I hope that her efforts are successful.

Their population will continue to grow exponentially, in accordance with the information which was provided by Seven. Without being able to determine the precise developmental state of each individual tribble that was originally brought into the facility, it is difficult to anticipate exactly when each additional litter will be delivered. However, tribbles are capable of surviving in an extremely limited space, and locating them should be possible if we act quickly.

[ After all, they do have a couple of tricorders.

Pragmatically speaking, he'd have to agree with Seven, but he is more than capable of understanding reluctance to kill them. ]

What location methods did you have in mind? [She wants to be ready for a round up even if she's hesitating on pulling that trigger.]

I have access to a device known as a tricorder, from my own reality of origin, which was brought with me upon my arrival in the facility. It can be used to locate lifeforms within a certain vicinity, which would assist in identifying any tribbles which may be missed upon a visual inspection.

Tricorder, huh? [You have her interest. she'd like to check that out more sometime.] Okay, that would be good. Last thing we need is them breeding somewhere unseen and making unlimited amounts of a find and retrieve game for us.

Yes. It is a scanning device which can be utilized for a variety of purposes; you may witness its functionality in the course of these efforts, if you wish.

I'd like that. What's your location?

I am presently located in sector 4, outside the amphitheater.

Gonna be there a minute or twelve?

That is a rather considerable span of time.

However, I can remain within the vicinity until you arrive.

In part. Though, the passage of time is rather different for an android. Twelve minutes is potentially equivalent to over forty quadrillion operations.

[ Earnestly- ]

The important facet, however, is that I will remain here.

Impressive. I can only do thirty quadrillion operations in that time. See you soon.

Understood.

[ And with that he'll cut the transmission and get to work with said tricorder, securing any tribbles in his vicinity as he waits. ]

[Kitty will make it in 9 minutes and 48 seconds. She picked up some time by cutting through stuff as per usual.]

Well if it isn't my favorite comedian.

[ And her arrival - of course with that time duly noted - gets a nod, and a small smile. ]

An honor of which I am most appreciative.

[ He holds up a tribble in the hand that is not currently occupied by a tricorder. ]

Though I have been pursuing other interests.

Seems like a timely interest. [She moves in closer.] Show me what kind of readings you get?

Certainly.

[ He places the tribble in a box, in which he has gathered several others. Don't worry, there's room.

Then he leans over and angles the tricorder toward her. ]

The tricorder is currently set to scan for biological life forms within its range. The readings are displayed on the screen. Each life form has a unique biological signature detected by the tricorder. Yours is displayed here - [ and he points ] - whereas the signals of the tribbles are displayed here. [ And of course, points in turn. And, of course, he doesn't have one. ]

The position is displayed as well as the type of lifeform. A combination of factors such as vital signs, body temperature, and even the chemical makeup of the lifeform are taken into account in order to accurately identify it.

Hmm. [Watching with interest and taking it in. She's curious how it all works from the inside out, but this isn't really the time for a full lesson on that. Still, she can't quite resist getting one piece of info.]

Try to read me again. [This time she'll phase when he points it at her, curious to see what, if anything, comes up.]

Certainly.

[ He nods and actively focuses the scan on her life sign - and when she does phase, it will fluctuate rather wildly in intensity, dipping when she goes into it and spiking when she's back out. He arches a brow at the result. ]

Curious.

As you employed your ability, your life sign fluctuated, with the reading becoming quite weak and inconsistent. If your presence had not been evident beforehand, it would likely have been dismissible as an erroneous signal.

[She nods.] I'm a lot harder to detect and interact with in that state.
