Hey, everyone. I was thinking about how back home, some of the senior officers used to get together a few times a week for a poker game. It's great stress relief. Even though we don't have money here, we could figure something out. I'm open to suggestions, or we could just play for chips and bragging rights. [He doesn't know about everyone, but he's competitive enough to make bragging rights a decent motivator.] We could even call it a club, so everyone could get some of those rehabilitation points toward things we want to ask for.

Oh, and if you don't know how to play but want to learn, it's not hard. It's just a matter of practice. And who knows? You might be a natural.

Anyone interested? I was thinking we'd start in a day or two.

[He's hoping the Captain and Data (the default dealer back on the Enterprise) will be up for this, but hey. Anyone who wants to get together and have fun is fine with him. Also, it's too bad Commander Riker was only here that one day; he'd probably have gotten a game together long ago if he'd stayed.]

Then it may work.

[ Optimism is nice to hold, anyway, especially when it hasn't yet been outright denied. As for his game? She'd never played it herself, nor ever seen what caused it to appeal to others ]

You don't appear to be alone there. What is it that you wanted from them?

I'm really hoping so! I'm trying to get permission and supplies to build a holodeck. It's a room that creates very realistic images and scenes according to the user's design. We could use it to visit our homes or play characters from our favorite novels... [Like Holmes and Watson, just saying.] Pretty much anything a person can dream up, within the safety parameters, the holodeck can do. The first time I saw one I was shocked at how real it seems.

[ She certainly looks interested by this concept. She's created things far more advanced than her time before but this is an idea that even Helena couldn't have dreamed of, and she'd certainly love to see it happen ]

And you could be able to build this if you had the supplies?

Sure. It was one of my specialties back home. I used to work on our holodecks all the time, for maintenance and the occasional malfunction. It seemed like something most everyone around here could appreciate.

[Of course, he has a few ulterior motives too, like simulating escape possibilities with his Captain and the other Starfleet members. But the entertainment aspect of it remains a good motivator.]

Then you sound the inventive man.

[ Even if he hadn't created it himself it was like Claudia, altering and improving. Rebuilding ]

Have you created anything for it before?

We engineers sometimes have to be. But it would get awfully boring if everything went by the book, so I don't mind at all.

Sure I have. Everyone on our ship has at least a few personal programs they use, be it for training or skills tests or entertainment. And sometimes I've used the holdeck to simulate work-related scenarios when I'm feeling stuck. One of my favorites is reenacting the Sherlock Holmes novels. I play Watson, my friend Data is Sherlock.

Well they sound interesting things to do. Would you be looking at making those again?
