Hey. Terry McGinnis. It's been a while since I spoke up here, I think, but I've got an open-ended question.

Don't read too much into it. I'm not a super scientist or wizard or anything, so all you get for answering it is making both of us marginally less bored. But I could use a little less boredom. Sports and patrols and working out only do so much for a guy.

Anyway, here goes: Tell me about space where you're from. How many planets have people been to, what other species have you met? How long have you had faster-than-light travel?

Even if you're not from Earth. I wanna hear about alien's aliens too.

Yeah? How did that play out? [He pauses, and then in a friendly voice decides to explain his curiosity.] I've had a little experience with alternate timelines, so I try to find out as much as possible about how things could have been.

Well, it's the 2040's, and we're still kinda taking baby steps. We have faster than light craft, but we didn't... I mean, we're not really well established in the galactic community or anything. You can't even get off-world unless you're with a government or the League.

[He realizes that 'League' probably could use some explanation, since it was founded by an alien.] That'd be the Justice League. Kind of like a local GL Corps. 'bout the same amount of aliens in it, too.

So in your time, Earth still has separate governments and ruling agencies. I read a lot about that time, but I can't really conceive of how it worked back then.

If your timeline works anything like ours and follows the same progression, once humankind unites it will be much easier to explore the universe.

That sounds fair. I can't really imagine a central government. If you guys even have any government anymore.

Sure we do. The United Federation of Planets. Earth was a founding member but many worlds belong to it, now.

Many but not all, I take it?

Not even close. Plenty of worlds aren't members; some are even outright hostile toward us. Most aren't, thankfully.
