[ day 239 ] action / voice :: open
[ In the dome in the morning ]

[ Jean-Luc, normally a very vibrant individual, normally a man with a mission and a purpose, no matter what that purpose might be, is standing very still in the middle of the dome. He’s in sector zero. Near the kiosk. Studying it with intense scrutiny, too still for any normal human being. ]

[ private to Helen ]

Doctor Magnus, I’m afraid I find it necessary to postpone tea. Perhaps we can meet tomorrow?

[ private to Trek crew ]

Is anyone…? [ There’s a moment of hesitation here, abnormal for this Captain on a normal day. He clears his throat and seems to come into himself, more stern and self-assured. ] Report.

ooc: Part 2 of the Locutus plot. The Trek muns know that Locutus is peeking into Picard’s consciousness. But anyone else who runs into him, he won’t be acting quite like himself!

I have heard mention of that.

It... I have an artificial heart, you see. It feels... off. Everything feels off.

Could the prison's technology be interfering in some way?

That is a possibility, yes. Although the bots in the hospital didn't seem overly concerned. Then again, I'm uncertain about their understanding of the -- technology. [ He had to make himself not say the plural form of technologies, as he has both Federation and Borg tech in him. ]

[There's an awful lot of space and time between Morgan and the Borg; she doesn't know enough to suspect what might be amiss.]

I understand your concerns, sir. [A pause.] How would you like us to proceed?

[ How would he like for them to proceed? He would like to make this all go away, ignore it and hope that everything falls back into place. But at this point, he knows something is indeed very wrong. ]

Yes, perhaps you could find Geordi and Data. And we could convene in the main room of --...

[ He stops. And grows silent. The audio going dead before he can finish. ]

[That's not unsettling at all.]

I will consult with them.

[Possibly a bit behind your back, sir.]

Captain Picard has been compromised, do not follow any orders he issues. He is not himself or acting upon his own will.

I can assure you my intention to consult with them-- and with you as well-- had little to do with the Captain's command.

Can you explain the nature of this incident?

I-- [ the temporal prime directive is applicable here, even if she personally disagrees with it. it is a flawed starfleet precautionary measure, often more trouble than it is worth. still... ] It is a complicated matter, one I am unsure if I am allowed to go into great detail about.

I understand your concerns.

[Not specifically, perhaps, but in general it's obvious what potential exists. Morgan is reasonably certain she'd be able to minimize damage to the timeline, should she find herself in her proper place possessed of improper knowledge, but regulations are regulations, no matter how impractical.]

However, my ability to assist in this situation is somewhat limited, lacking knowledge of its context. I am prepared to trust your judgment and that of your contemporaries, but I'd like to be kept abreast of developments, to the extent possible without risking corruption of the timeline.
