[Day 237] Self-Esteem Group Therapy Mingle
[Should you be lucky enough to get enrolled into this group, you will be led to the beach—specifically, one of the beach huts in a low-traffic area, which has been primed with an assortment of chairs organized in a circle around a table. All the delicious and comforting snacks and beverages you could want await you in the back of the hut.]

[It's a very relaxing setup: an ocean-side view, the soothing sound of waves washing along the shore, and the salty sea air permeating everything. Just ignore the bots hovering the perimeter a few yards beyond the hut. They won't bother you unless you try to escape.]

[On the central table are a series of activity suggestions:]

• Each person will take a turn around the circle saying their name and offering one positive quality or talent they genuinely like about themselves. Others are welcome to speak up if they share that trait. Make a friend!

• In groups or pairs, the participants will come up with three words that they would use to describe their ideal self, no matter how impossible it may feel to be that way. They must then phrase these into an "I am" statement, and the other(s) present will affirm them.

• The group takes turns focusing on one person. This person will become the target of a barrage of kindness: genuine compliments, hugs, high-fives, or other caring and affirming gestures are go! The recipient of these is encouraged to take their time digesting everything before the group moves on to the next person.

• Participants tell a story about a time when they felt as though they accomplished something that they are incredibly proud of. Big or small!

[Calliope, realizing what this group is seemingly meant to entail, absolutely does not want to be here.]

[She's not so much sitting as slumping in her chair, lanky legs curled under her and arms laying wherever they will. She is clutching a cup of hot cocoa between her hands, as though for warmth, even though it's not actually cold. She takes occasional breaks to make sure her hoodie is still casting her face in as much shadow as morning in a beach hut will allow.]

[She just feels worse as more people arrive.]

	[ Dawn has no problem going up to people she doesn't know and saying hello. Shyness is not a problem she has. So she plops down into a chair by Calliope and sighs. ] This is so not as much fun as the classes where you can actually learn things. Is the hot chocolate any good?
