Good day, Marina-- or, I suppose, Marina Nova. I hope everyone is adjusting as well as can be expected. We've suffered some tremendous losses [herself very much included,] but I am certain we will be able to manage things as well as possible.

With regards to the Defense Force -- with Suzaku Kururugi among those lost, and the Wardens confirming for me that weapons and life sign monitoring are no longer available -- I would like to make a proposal. [and she's going to make it openly, so anyone can weigh in... trolls she can handle, and it's worth the risk to give everyone a chance to speak.]

Although I believed strongly in Suzaku and what he did with the Force, there was something troubling me. In some cases, members' primary motivation for joining was to obtain a weapon. And while I know for a fact that Suzaku would not admit anyone who was not suitable, it nonetheless seems as though such a team should have members whose primary reason for joining is belief in its purpose. And further, I believe that the invasion of privacy that the former Defense Force utilized for monitoring life signs made inmates uneasy. I know I had my own questions about such methodology, but it was not my team and thus not my place to debate what was in place.

However, now that many things have begun anew, I am wondering if there are those among us who believe strongly enough in protecting others that they would agree to do so without the promise of a weapon, or any such personal gain. A new leader would need to be elected, and I would be happy to oversee the process if the potential members would like. Any and all proposals will be considered.

With regards to weaponry and special abilities for those who would use them in defense of themselves or others, that is a battle that I will continue to fight with the Wardens, regardless of whether there is a formal Defense Force. I believe in our members, and all of you will have my full support regardless of the status of the organization as a whole.

I agree actually.

I'm used to messy. I believe in people coming together for everyone's protection. But we need a strong leader. [And so far she's not sure she sees one. She's also not sure she can be the kind of leader a place like this needs. She's been struggling lately. And her last leadership role ended in...everyone's death. Not exactly a confidence builder.]

I think the one who should lead is probably the one who would step up to lead.

[Okay, a little vague on her part. That's part of what's troubling her with this. Lacus seems to be taking charge and yet...not. Before she heard this transmission she thought about calling out orders for Defense Force members to explore the dome in teams, but now that is pushed to the background and there is this issue on the table.

She can't see herself proposing to be the leader. Not after what happened to her students. She still has too much self doubt. She's not sure who should be. If Charles were still here maybe...]

...There's this girl I know back home. Happy and idealistic to the point of just being ridiculous to watch. But she's a Princess, and she cares about her country. She'd do anything for her people.

	Lacus isn't the whole Defense Force. No one person is. Don't give up from this or from anything one person does. Even if she becomes the leader. The force is bigger than that.
