Day 226 l Christmas Party Mingle
[Ianto has, predictably, gone a bit overboard for the Christmas party he and Jack are throwing. The entire apartment has been decorated; there's a tree with gold and silver ornaments and twinkling lights, garlands draped over doorways, candles in every window and festive nicknacks scattered about. It looks like something out of a magazine, and may make visitors a little afraid to actually touch anything. There's also a lot of mistletoe around (one of the side effects of living with Captain Jack Harkness) so it's probably a good idea to keep one eye on the ceiling at all times.

Of course he's made plenty of coffee and some appetizers, so he hopes people really do respond to the invitation Jack sent out, otherwise there are going to be a hell of a lot of leftovers.]

Ianto lets himself be distracted from tidying up, following Jack and only stumbling a bit as he pulls him into his arms. He's just tipsy enough for it to be noticeable.

"I have been keeping track," He replies. In fact that's the reason he's had this much to drink. He doesn't mind, though. Watching Jack snog everyone who walks through their door is a lot more fun when he gets to turn it into a game.

"Have you now?" Jack murmurs, rather delighted. He knew Ianto was watching, of course, just as Kitty was until she left with Reid, but somehow hearing Ianto tell him that is so much more thrilling. He can't help wondering if he might be in a little bit of trouble, however much the whole game was their idea in the first place.

"Am I going to have to do some grovelling?" he asks, not sounding particularly cowed, but just a little wary nonetheless.

Jack definitely likes the idea of being watched – and of being watched over. Since their conversation after the whole Martha incident, he’s been thinking of the restrictions on their relationship less and less as something imposed by the wardens and more as something he’s chosen to do for Ianto, and he really likes the feeling that Ianto’s keeping tabs on him. It makes him feel cared for, and it makes him feel safe.

He chuckles, squeezing Ianto gently. “Just scores, or all the sordid details too?”

That conversation has changed the way Ianto views their relationship as well, also for the better. He feels more confident now than he ever did at home that Jack really does want this to mean something, to be more than just an office romance. If the wardens had suddenly offered up the option to loose the wrist bands but still keep things the way they were he would have trusted Jack enough to let that happen.

"Sordid details, please," He replies in that same brisk, teasing tone he uses as Jack's secretary/butler.

Jack chuckles, low and dirty. “Well, well, who would have thought you had such filthy desires, Ianto Jones,” he murmurs against Ianto’s hair, one large hand rubbing in the small of his back. “Okay, well, first there was Kitty, of course. Which you saw. Very sweet and friendly, but short. Though it wasn’t our first kiss, you know, so I guess that’s fair enough!”

“I didn’t even know about the game until afterwards,” Jack counters, “so it totally counts. And for the record,” he adds, rich and warm against Ianto’s ear, “if this is my corrupting influence, then I like it. Remind me to keep on corrupting you, hmm?”

He is enjoying this way more than he would have done if he’d done it without Ianto being in on it.

Jack did his best to hide a grin at just how much he loved seeing this stern, unyielding side of Ianto come out, and failed just a bit. (A fair bit of punch had been consumed on his side as well, after all.)

To cover it, he made a show of thinking hard and at length about his 'dilemma'. "Well..." he said eventually, with exaggerated reluctance, "I think I'd have to rate Kitty a little higher. A bit more experience there, I'd say, and a lot of spunk. But Reid was really cute, too."

Instead he allows the dancing to carry them the last few steps to the nearest mistletoe. The kiss is long and deep and more than a little possessive. If Jack had had any idea that knowing, irrevocably, that he was being faithful would give Ianto such confidence, he might well have succumbed to the idea of his own accord a long time ago. The air of dominance in the way Ianto deftly guides him to the mistletoe and then proceeds to kiss the living daylights out of him has the arousal that’s been simmering underneath everything spiking sharply and he gasps into the kiss, Ianto’s possessiveness sparking other, more basic, instincts. Ianto keeps his arm resting against the small of Jack's back as they begin to walk, keeping him close. Jack's usually the more assertive one in their relationship, so he hadn't really realized how much of a turn on turning the tables like this could be for both of them.
