Day 226 l Christmas Party Mingle
[Ianto has, predictably, gone a bit overboard for the Christmas party he and Jack are throwing. The entire apartment has been decorated; there's a tree with gold and silver ornaments and twinkling lights, garlands draped over doorways, candles in every window and festive nicknacks scattered about. It looks like something out of a magazine, and may make visitors a little afraid to actually touch anything. There's also a lot of mistletoe around (one of the side effects of living with Captain Jack Harkness) so it's probably a good idea to keep one eye on the ceiling at all times.

Of course he's made plenty of coffee and some appetizers, so he hopes people really do respond to the invitation Jack sent out, otherwise there are going to be a hell of a lot of leftovers.]

[Jack is dressed in his usual outfit (why change the habit of a lifetime, especially when he already looks so dashing?) but he does have a sort of glow about him that comes from finding himself surprisingly happy. Who cares if you're wrongfully imprisoned under the sea on an alien planet, when you've finally discovered you're in love?

Just because he's in love, don't expect him to stop flirting, though. He's pretty high already and he's going to be on the booze this evening, so watch out!]

[Jack is never too busy hosting - well, actually, isn't coming over to say hi properly actually part of hosting? He does just that, with a warm smile, because quite likes Reid and definitely respects him and he tries to be nice to him for Kitty's sake.

Well, apart from those times when he can't stop himself teasing the poor guy.]

Reid! Glad you could make it! Can I get you a drink?

Well, we have Christmas punch, which is what I'm drinking [and what he gave Kitty ], or there's mulled wine, or the usual selection of beers, wines and spirits! A rather nice Scotch, if I do say so myself. Or I believe there are some non-alcoholic drinks somewhere for those who choose not to imbibe, though honestly since no-one has to drive here, I can't really see why they wouldn't want to drink, unless they're pregnant! Which I assume you're not.

[Jack notices the uncomfortable shifting (he's not completely blind to body language, however hard he finds it to read on occasion) and manages to tone down the surprise. He is, after all, in no position to judge on this particular area, even if there was a very specific reason for it.]

Fair enough. I was pretty much tee-total myself for over a century. Uh... coke, then? Or cranberry juice? How about cranberry and ginger beer - that's a pretty good mocktail!

[ It's not that he's ashamed. It isn't and under different circumstances he might even be forthcoming with his problem, but this doesn't seem like the time or the place. It's an easy excuse to make, although he's been working on being more open about that particular thing.

He does follow along obediently. Easily, even. ]

I wonder if embracing the wardens holiday whims is a sign of having been here too long.

Yeah, I’ve been told I’ve been here before too but yeah, I don’t remember it either. Besides, I think seventy-nine days are enough. Even I’ve been here… hell, it must be coming up to a month now.
