Evening 244 | Action |
[Peter is crouched on the very edge of the building on his heels, chin in his hand. He's got his Spider-man suit on underneath his clothes and the mask shoved in his backpack, which is slung over one shoulder.

The last couple of days have given Peter a lot to think about. He's spent most of his time here wanting to go home, but when they were in the Squall prison, he just wanted to get back here. Home is supposed to be the people you care about and it is. He misses his Aunt Mae so much. He misses the smell of coffee brewing in the morning and breakfast cooking downstairs. He misses listening to the back and forth of his aunt and uncle over the dinner table. He misses school, Gwen and the skyscrapers in New York. He misses that sort of anonymity that New York City affords people, but he's come to realize that there are things about this place that he would miss if he were taken as well. The creature comforts are only a part of it, but he would be lying if he said that they weren't. The people are the larger part of it. He's made friends here, come to care and he would miss those people if he went home tomorrow. He's not sure how to deal with that.

His powers are back, and that's given him something else to ponder. Peter isn't sure who he is without his powers anymore. At one time, watching Gwen walk away, he thinks he would have given anything to be the old Peter Parker, but now, having been stripped of his powers twice, he's not so sure he really would. There was nothing wrong with the old Peter Parker. He didn't hate who he was, but he enjoys his powers. It doesn't hurt that he can do some real good with his powers. As the old Peter Parker, he was limited in what he could do by his body. Having powers, in his mind, gives Peter a chance to redeem himself for the mistakes he's made, for Uncle Ben's death, for Captain Stacy's death, for what he helped Dr. Connors do. With his powers muted, he'd felt blind, deaf and numb. He closes his eyes, listening to the sounds of the dome. He can feel the air on his skin, and smell the food from the vendors.

Feel free to notice the boy perched on the edge of the building. He's not opposed to talking to someone, in fact, if he sees people walking by he might jump down to talk to them. He just needed some time to think and he really likes heights. If he had his shooters and webbing, he'd be hanging upside down somewhere.]

[Garcia's having similar feelings of homesickness. And Derek-sickness, which she's decided should absolutely be a thing because it's frigging profound.]

[She spots a kid standing on the edge of the roof, and of course her first thought is totally morbid. Depressing thoughts lead to depressing assumptions, even if from that height he might actually just end up with a broken leg or two. She calls up to the boy in a near-panic:]
Oh my God, don't do it!

[Pardon her, she tends to forget that some people here can leap tall buildings in a single bound.]

[It takes Peter a second to realize what she's telling him not to do.]

Oh! No! It's okay. [He yells down then decides it'll be easier to assure her that he's not suicidal if he's on the ground. He slides off the ledge of the building, hanging by one arm. He pretends to find a sort of ledge on the face of the building before he lets go and grabs onto the side of the building after he's fallen a few feet then finally drops to the ground in a crouch.]

I'm okay. Promise. I just like high places.

[Give her a second to blink and process what just happened, but then she smiles in relief!] Oh man, you totally threw me for one right there. That's some awesome acrobatics you've got going on, though!

And hey, sorry if I freaked you out. I guess you know where my head is right about now.

No, it's...okay. People don't usually look--look up though, you know? [His brow furrows and he presses his lips together a moment before giving her a concerned sort of look.]

Yeah. You gonna be okay?

Really? Huh. Maybe it's because I keep looking for the stars. Kinda creepy, the blank sky. [She glances up again and sighs as if she expected that maybe this time she wouldn't be disappointed.]

Anyway yeah, I guess so. Just doing that whole 'someone I love vanished without a trace because this place loves doing that' thing. Actually, three someones.

What about you? Just hanging, or did I interrupt some major-serious Thought Processes?

At least not in New York City. Only the tourists look up. [He gives a glance to the sky then nods.]

I guess so. Again, smog filled New York City. We don't see many stars anyway.

[He considers her word ramble and her question, shaking his head at the interruption part.]

You're good. On the whole interruption part anyway. [ He probably needed to be pulled out of his thoughts.]

Uh...so...I'm sorry about your friends. That's--That's not--I mean it sucks.

Yeah, kinda. But we're all pretty much in the same boat, here. I don't know anyone who hasn't lost someone since they've been here. Not to mention what we lost just by coming here.

[She manages to smile genuinely, so no worries about her sads.] NYC, huh? This place must be one helluva culture shock.

[Kitty notices him on the edge of the building as she walks by. She could keep on walking. After all, it was the other Peter Parker she'd grown close to, and it's not always fun to just be reminded of someone you lost, and her list of the lost is just getting longer and longer.

But it isn't his fault he's not "her" Parker. Not taking chances to know him better really only hurt her in the end anyway. The hurting list is long enough too, so she changes course to walk herself up to where he's perched. There's no staircase so she just "makes one" out of the air. Phasing has it's own tricks after all.]
I've always liked hanging out on roofs.

[Peter appreciates her stopping by. He knows that she was closer to the other Peter. He'd sort of gathered it from the conversations he and Kitty had had. Still, the manner in which she gets up to the roof is impressive. It gets a long whistle out of him. ]

And your mode of transportation is really cool.

[He glances around.] Yeah. I--I've sort of always liked it. I started liking it better after...you know. [The spider stuff.]

[She looks amused and not offended that she earned a whistle.] I don't know, there's something to be said about swinging over everything. Probably more of a thrill. [She held on to the other Peter once and got a demonstration, but that's not quite the same as being the one in control. She rests beside him.]

Sure. After. I don't think I ever did before. [The mutant stuff.]

Yeah...it's really cool. [A sigh, because confession time. ] I don't have my shooters here and the Wardens are counting them as potentially dangerous, so my swinging days are on hold 'til I earn some good behavior points.

I made the shooters, and I can make them again here. I can find pretty much everything in the shops. I just need the webbing.

No. I mean, I do. It's just not strong enough to swing from. The kind that's strong enough to swing from, and support cars and things like that, is from the spider that bit me. Oscorp developed it. [He goes a bit red. ]I stole it. Some of it.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

hehe, sorry about that! Canon info is rough sometimes!

Dawn was actually out looking for Peter because she was... suddenly very lonely. She'd thought to find Spike or Xander, but therein lay all the awkwardness. She just didn't feel like she could go to them with loneliness anymore. It was her fault, really. Not theirs. Buffy was busy with Sam, as always. Oz was locked away in his cage, plus being with Oz was sometimes like being with no one since he could be verbally challenged. Peter was her go to now.

She had just left his place which was empty when she thought to get his voice on the little communicator thing. But she hesitated. What if she was interrupting something important? What if he was on a date? What if...

The voice comes on before she can question it further. "Hey, you busy with things?"

Peter responds almost immediately when he gets Dawn's voice. He's still crouched up on the roof. He'll wait to see what she wants before coming down. When he answers, he's smiling and it probably comes through in his voice. He's been feeling a bit lonely as well.

"Hey. Nope. Not busy at all. Just sort of hanging around." Not quite literally, even though he kind of wishes he could. Hanging upside down is relaxing for him.

"What are you up to?"

"Just sort of hanging around. I got... tired of doing the alone thing at my place." Which probably spoke volumes. Usually when she got tired of doing the alone thing, it either led to finding someone to hang with or finding trouble. And the two were not mutually exclusive.

"Wanna hang around together?" She's out walking the dome now looking for him.

He nods a little, despite knowing she can't see him. "Yeah. I mean...yeah. I'd love to---love to hang around together. Is there anything in particular you want to do?"

Now he's going to cheat and use his spidey senses, the hearing and the sight to try and hone in on her and find her. He could ask where she is, but it'll be more fun to find her.

"We could go walk through the cemetery. That's how we measure a good time back home... weirdly enough." Which she gets probably sounds super weird despite how comfortable it is to her. "Or... we could do whatever you wanna do."

"You know, I can't say I've ever done that. Sure. I'm game for the cemetery walking. Do you have a grave in particular you visit or....just like the scenery?" He's distracted, still hunting her down. he does grab a bouquet of flowers along the way, just a simple mix with carnations, daisies, baby's breath and a couple of lilies.

'Is there beer? I mean...not that I wanted--I just thought back home sometimes...never mind. That was dumb. The beer comment. You probably don't--not that I do. Drink beer, I mean. I haven't. Ever."

Ah, there she is. He creeps up then steps in front of her flowers held out. "Forgive me? For word vomiting at you."

"It's more the atmosphere. I know that's weird, but... I guess the whole danger and creepy aspect of them has been dulled by a lifetime of following my older sister and her friends." She's heading for the cemetery now, knowing the way as she's been there lots of times since arriving here. Even when her sister is missing, the cemetery is one of the first places she looks.

"Oh! I've had beer." she'd been to a few frat parties at Berkeley. "But usually if I'm in a drinking mood, it's the fruity kind of drinks I go for. Strawberries and coconuts and limes..."

She smiles when she sees him, glancing down to the flowers and back up to him. "No forgiveness. I appreciate a good word vomit."

He hands her the flowers, tucks his hands into his pockets and falls in line beside her while they're walking then picks up the conversation they'd been having across the communicators.

"no...it's familiar. That makes sense why it's comforting." Yeah, it's a little weird, but most people would say that on top of some of the country's highest sky scrapers is a weird place to feel comfortable.

"fruity drinks. I'll make a note." He's actually pretty happy not being much of a drinker. Honestly, he's not even sure how alcohol would affect him now that his metabolism is so insane not to mention everything else that getting bit by that spider changed.

"Thank you." She might be gushing with a spurt of happiness when he hands her the flowers. Blushing too. She can't help it.

She lightly bumps his shoulder with hers. "So what were you doing out and about? You okay?"

Blushing and gushing are acceptable responses. He'd even kind of hoped for those sorts of reactions. It was never a good thing when a girl took flowers blandly.

He grins at the way she bumps his shoulder. "Yeah. I'm--I'm okay. Just...you know...doing some thinking. Home stuff, not being home...that sort of thing. What about you? Not enjoying the solitude or really craving my company?"

[Bart has this habit of over-buying food from the vendors. Case in point: he just inhaled one cart's entire stock for the night (and he doesn't seem to regret it either). It takes him a moment to see Peter, as he'd moved onto the next cart... But when he does, he holds up his calamari wordlessly.

He'd yell for Peter to join him, but he's not too sure the sound'll carry over. Besides, if he leaves now, he's not too sure the vendors would welcome him back.]

[Peter's vision is good enough that he sees bart down there, grins and hops on down. It's nice to see someone who eats more than him. Within a few moments, Peter is standing next to Bart.]

Eating out of revenge or do you like calamari?

Both, I think. [He tilts his head slightly - the thought of revenge hadn't occurred to him until now.] Thst octopus deserved its fried fate if it's my meal, and it's kinda tasty too.

You want some?
