Oh my God, I'm going to get gray hair from all you people insisting on braving the extremely huge tentacle creature attack to check on what we already know. I just can't take worrying about anyone else I love right now.

...Reid, look. [Okay, calming down a smidge.] You know as well as I do that Derek would have checked in. He just would have. He's an idiot sometimes with his risking himself but he wouldn't just leave us in the dark.

As much as it really, really, really hurts to say it, I just know he's gone. I can feel it.

He's lost too many in his life already and he never really felt like he could do anything about it, so no matter how hopeless this search will be, he needs to do it just so he's done everything in his power to make sure.
