[What better way to kick off a mingle than to broadcast the invitation to the entire dome?]

Hey ya'll. I know it's kinda outta place t'say Welcome to Marina cause no one really wants t'be here, but it ain't all bad. In any case, I've got a bar an grill here in Sector 4 called Merlotte's, figure th' new arrivals may want to come on down and have a drink or two after a trip like that.

Anyone's welcome of course, we're open from mornin' to night. Come on in an' have a bite to eat or somethin' to ease your troubles.

((ooc: This is an open mingle. Feel free to thread everywhere with anyone. As always, before threadjacking make sure it's okay by the player but otherwise have fun! Sam is available to chat with either by Video or in person and his thread is right Here. There is a full menu of down-home diner/grill sort of foods, so hamburgers, french fries, salads, soups, breakfast items or whatever other comfort food you can think of and a few other things from other worlds. There is a full bar, wine, liquor, beer and even blood or synthetic blood. He also has a pool table and there's plenty of room in booths or tables to play cards or whatever else.))

I'm talking about you and your smartass mouth that probably would think nothing of saying stuff that bothered me just to get a reaction. Or just because it amused you. Or because you don't think or care about the junk that comes out of your mouth and how it could effect someone else.

[He's usually not so wordy about these things but the beer combined with the nasty little confrontation the two of them had on Kissing Bot Day thanks to Helix's mouthiness has it just spilling out.]

And if you say one godsdamn thing about my appearance or how I feel about it I'll knock you through that wall.

[Sure, he says a lot he doesn't think about, plenty of mean things have come out of his mouth. And he DOES say things to get a rise but... for some reason he doesn't seem to use appearance or race, not intentionally. Worst case he'd maybe call Zel "pebbles" or something, but it's nothing different than Dean calling him Smurf.

Honestly, he was actually trying to level with Zel and be nice for once. And he's kind of insulted by that assumption. So he'll get up with a scowl and take his leave unless Zel has anything to say.]

I wasn't using her against you. I was telling you to talk to her since you don't want to hear me out and give me a fighting chance. She knows me, whether you like it or not.

[Or at least, she knew the kinder side of him. The side that made her feel better about herself and her appearance. He encouraged her, a lot. He wanted Zel to know that but felt there was no way he'd get a chance to tell him or that he'd even believe him, so he wanted Zel to ask Raven about it.]

[Oh Helix, you're a victim of terrible timing here. Zelgadis doesn't even realize he's reacting to things that are completely separate from what's going on in front of him. Granted, he's resisting Helix because that's what he does on principle to people who mock him, but there's a lot more to it:]

Why should I? Why should I give you a chance or spend my time on anyone here? Why bother working toward caring about someone just so this fucking place can use it to screw with us or take them away?

[As he's speaking his thick ale mug explodes in his hand.] Just when things get good it gets thrown it in your face.

Sure, he was looking to talk to the guy but he didn't expect the alcohol to make him react like this. At least, this sounded like it was digging into deeper things than he was anticipating.]

So you'd rather just be miserable, denying what you feel about someone or want to feel towards someone just on the idea that they might be taken from you one day?

Maybe tomorrow, maybe in a month or a year, or 10... aren't you better off taking that risk than regretting what you could have had before you lost the chance?

Yeah, well... Thank Aidan for that one. I sounded just like you before he came along. I didn't anyone to get close to me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm scared to death that he'll disappear. I'd fall apart if he did. I just... I don't know. I'm not going to let that fear stop me from being happy and getting the most out of our time right here and right now.

Trust me. If we were outside this dome? I wouldn't even try being nice. [Because of his life. The one that got the girl killed. Same reasons as Zel, something bad seems to happen to whoever he lets in.]
