[Day 216] [BASEBALL - mingle]
[PLAY BALL!

Or cheerlead.

Or watch.

Or heckle.

It's an event everyone can enjoy!

There are some traditional snacks on hand. No alcohol sadly, but you can still have soda, hot dogs, and popcorn among other things. The bleachers provide enough seating for those who want to see exactly how vampires, humans, demons, mutants, etc. all play together. Not to mention some of them only recently even learned what baseball was. Never a dull moment at least.

In the end, it's the Flying Knights who win in this fairly evenly matched game, but there was some impressive action for both teams It should be an interesting season.]

(OOC: MINGLE! This is event style! Just put in your header whether your character is in the crowd, the purple dragons, the flying knights, cheerleading, before the game, or after the game or any combination! Please assume there was adequate IC announcement of this event!

Backdated to earlier in the day. Roster. It is not yet updated with recent additions from the last Yuuri post.)

[Laura does not really pay as much attention to normal sports. Her idea of physical activity tends to involve more violence than even would be warranted in a hockey game or on a football field. Still, it is an event that many people seem to be interested in and she decides to observe. And not to prevent anything bad from happening for once. She is taking Artemis' words about a "break" to heart.

So she arrives and looks around at the field where not everyone has yet entered. She is known for showing up very early. She spots Euphie and realizes that she's wearing a uniform.]

I did not know you were a cheerleader.

Oh, yes, I joined months ago I think. Although there wasn't a lot of practicing or games going on then. It's changed since Caroline took over. Not that Sakura wasn't a wonderful leader!

You should join, Laura. I bet you'd be wonderful at it.

[Laura tilts her head slightly to the side. Considering, but also a little confused.] I do not know how to cheerlead.

I didn't either before I started. I could help you practice and I'm sure the others would too.

[Cessily had mentioned once that she was a cheerleader before her powers fully developed. It seems like those who do it well are more outgoing and social that Laura would ever consider herself being. But Euphie is asking her and it is not something she is...against.]

Is there a test?

There were tryouts earlier. Caroline might want to see an example of a cheer. I could teach you one to start with if you like.

No oral or written exams of course.

[Oh cheers. Yes, to be a cheerleader she will probably need to know them. But if Euphie is willing to teach her, then it should be fine.]

Yes, that would be fine. Cheers are not something I am...familiar with. [Her very brief experience in a normal high school is showing.]

They come with little routines too. Well, I suppose you saw that while you were watching. Is it your first time seeing cheerleaders? [Said in a way where that could be perfectly normal. Princess life led to a lot of missed "normal" experiences.]

It was not the first time, but I do not understand what the purpose of the cheers are. [They seem to be simple chants and rhymes, but the repetition doesn't seem all that "cheerful" to her.]

Oh, it's to get everyone's energy and excitement up so they shout their encouragement and the teams play harder.

At least that's how I understand it. [So not an expert!]

Hm. [That seems a bit unnecessary to her, but maybe there is more to it when the cheering is in action during a full audience. The only cheering she had seen before now had been during practices on the school's field.]

Okay. Which one do you think is the more effective cheer? [If she is going to learn, she would want to know the most useful one first.]

The most effective? [And now it is SCIENCE!] Ah, I'm not sure. Did one of them feel more effective to you?

The crowd seemed to enjoy all of them. The first was more...energetic. Maybe it was the most effective.

[She is very awkward about this Euphie, can you not tell?]

...After the game. [It is not a question, but it does not sound as sure as Laura could be of herself either.] If you do not have plans. Or tomorrow, if it is better for you.

I don't mind doing that afterwards. [She doesn't think she'll be too tired at least.] I think it will be a lot of fun having you on the team. We'll be able to practice together. [Yes, Euphie likes this idea!]

[In some ways, Euphie really reminds Laura of Cessily. She is so open and friendly and caring.]

Yes...I think I will like that. [She is not certain, but she thinks that she will. She enjoys spending time with Euphie.] Thank you.

You're welcome. I wonder if Tear might be interested too. I saw Peggy joined one of the baseball teams. Then we could all be involved together.

You can ask her tonight. [Laura considers the statement.] Is this what roommates normally do?

Yes. We did not have...sport teams to join like this back home. Roommates were more random than us choosing to live together. [They were on a very different team than this.]

No, I don't think it's typical from what I know, but it's nice, isn't it? [She smiles softly.] I might not be the best person to ask. I've never had roommates before being here.

[Laura's smile is tentative, but there.] It is nice. Doing things together is...fun. [That word still feels strange for her to say.]

Maybe roommates are all different. We live together but it is not the same as when I had roommates before. We are different, but not...bad.

Sooraya was a very private person. We gave each other space to do things and did not intrude. She was also very kind. [Loyal to the point it almost got her killed.] Cessily was...like you. Only more so.
