[Day 216] [BASEBALL - mingle]
[PLAY BALL!

Or cheerlead.

Or watch.

Or heckle.

It's an event everyone can enjoy!

There are some traditional snacks on hand. No alcohol sadly, but you can still have soda, hot dogs, and popcorn among other things. The bleachers provide enough seating for those who want to see exactly how vampires, humans, demons, mutants, etc. all play together. Not to mention some of them only recently even learned what baseball was. Never a dull moment at least.

In the end, it's the Flying Knights who win in this fairly evenly matched game, but there was some impressive action for both teams It should be an interesting season.]

(OOC: MINGLE! This is event style! Just put in your header whether your character is in the crowd, the purple dragons, the flying knights, cheerleading, before the game, or after the game or any combination! Please assume there was adequate IC announcement of this event!

Backdated to earlier in the day. Roster. It is not yet updated with recent additions from the last Yuuri post.)

[ seven attends out of pure curiosity, and more so towards the cheerleaders than the baseball team itself. she's familiar with recreational sports and knows of several members of voyager's crew who partake in them frequently in sessions logged on the holodeck. cheerleading, however, is an entirely new concept, one she finds intriguing, if not a bit unorthodox in the way they use a combination of poses, dancing, and chants to convey their encouragement for their team.

she waits until the game's conclusion to make her way out of the stands and towards the girls in uniform, approaching one of the girls she was previously familiar with. ]

Elena Gilbert. Which team were you cheering for?

[ elena's twisting the end of her ponytail as she hears her name, and turns away from her fellow cheerleaders to spot seven. she looks a little exhilarated, and there's an easy smile and some lightness in her eyes there isn't usually.

it takes her a moment and a breath to recognize seven, process the question, and answer.
] Uh, both. Not exactly traditional, I know, but it's good for the squad. [ performing in front of a crowd, getting involved.

fun.

And it's traditional to cheer for one or the other?

[ forgive her questions. they may sound like something she should know via common sense, but a girl who grew up away from earth and largely amongst a group of hive mentality cyborgs has no clue how cheerleading is supposed to work. quantum physics? got it. cheerleading? nope. ]

[ the questions do kind of trip her up, but she remembers what seven said she was -- and how she wasn't familiar with earth customs. she answers them with an understanding and patient smile. ] Yeah, there are usually more teams than two. Squads are institution-based, like local sports are. At home, I cheered for my school, and we also entered competitions with other cheerleading squads.

Is this your first baseball game?

[ she nods. ] That is correct. I have participated in sports, but none so... Terran in origin.

[ with the exception of ping pong, but games of velocity on the holodeck were with a hover disc and phasers, not bats and baseballs. ]

What other sports have you played? [ she's curious. what do other planets do for fun? ]

Velocity. It is traditionally played on a holodeck range with phasers and an aerodynamic hoverdisc approximately eight inches across. The object of the game is to fire upon the hoverdisc before it fires upon you. It is a test of skill and accuracy.

[ which came in hand during real life scenarios when you were trying to shoot an intruder dodging fire while running full speed down a corridor. ]

[ the words she uses are unfamiliar to her, but elena understands the idea of it. it's not like any game she can think of - besides video games. yep. video games. she smiles a little when it occurs to her, and she nods curtly, more to herself than seven. ] Sounds like something my brother plays. Video games? [ does that sound familiar to her? ]
