[Day 216] [BASEBALL - mingle]
[PLAY BALL!

Or cheerlead.

Or watch.

Or heckle.

It's an event everyone can enjoy!

There are some traditional snacks on hand. No alcohol sadly, but you can still have soda, hot dogs, and popcorn among other things. The bleachers provide enough seating for those who want to see exactly how vampires, humans, demons, mutants, etc. all play together. Not to mention some of them only recently even learned what baseball was. Never a dull moment at least.

In the end, it's the Flying Knights who win in this fairly evenly matched game, but there was some impressive action for both teams It should be an interesting season.]

(OOC: MINGLE! This is event style! Just put in your header whether your character is in the crowd, the purple dragons, the flying knights, cheerleading, before the game, or after the game or any combination! Please assume there was adequate IC announcement of this event!

Backdated to earlier in the day. Roster. It is not yet updated with recent additions from the last Yuuri post.)

[Xander is just hanging out on the bleachers, eating a hot dog and watching the crowd more than the game. Men with eyepatches are very approachable. Come say hi.]

[Dawn was in the crowd too. She'd seen Xander during the game but waited until afterward to go up to him and say hi. She sneaks up behind him in a less than stealthy fashion.]

Admit it. You're here for the cheerleaders.

[He did not mean to look at the cheerleaders when she said that, but it happened and then his eye is racing back.] No. I don't even know them. [Because that is definitely why someone would look at cheerleaders. It's the knowing and deep personal relationship. Not short skirts and jumping.]

I just thought baseball in prison is a thing I should see at least once.

What about you? Here for the cheerleaders? [Have a little Xander smile all for you, Dawn.]

[That Xander smile is met with a Dawn smile and an eyebrow lift. Her lips purse thoughtfully as she looks over the cheerleading squad.]

Pep makes anything seem better... baseball games, frat parties, apocalypses. But mostly I'm here to watch cute sweaty boys. Cause... yum. Eye candy appreciation.

[Yes, Dawn, that will never be not awkward even ignoring all the many things she has mentioned between them in future times. But this is Xander handling it with grace.] Good. Some people like...sweat.

[Sliding that conversation meter back to something more comfortable.] We really should have had cheerleading squads at apocalypses. [Yes, he finds apocalypses comforting.]

You used to sweat a lot. [She's just gonna point that out before moving on to the safer topic of which she can generally agree is safer.]

Sometimes it felt like there was one there with all the mini-slayers. Go team slay?

...Thank you. [Is he blushing? This is not normally the kind of thing to blush over, but context. But, yes, the moving on!]

The Slayateers?

Kind of like the Mousketeers but without the song and dance.

[She nods her approval.] Unless you consider a fight scene a kind of dance, then it's just like the mousketeers but without the song... except for that one time with Sweet.

Yeah, that was not a great time. The singing was kind of festive at first. [Until it was full of revealing things.] But I could probably do without that again.

Slayettes? More like the Rockettes?

I kind of liked it until Sweet wanted me to be his Queen. I've always wondered if a tiara would have come with the whole queen thing. I could probably win at wearing a tiara.

[That one makes her laugh.] Now I'm imagining them all forming a kick line. It's both hilarious and a little scary.

I'm just glad I didn't end up as his queen. Definitely a no queens for Sweet kind of day.

[He smiles, relaxing. All of the sweaty boys comments are floating away safely.] It would be the most dangerous of all kick lines.

[She's trying so hard to stay with safe topics. Its just that sometimes words spill out and emotions and feelings well up far past overflowing. But right now, things are safe and she's glad for that, mostly for Xander because she knows she makes him uncomfortable with where they are in her timeline.]

You could have been his king. It's totally doable. You'd probably win at wearing a tiara too. [Teasing... teasing... this is good.]

[More like she makes him uncomfortable because he makes her uncomfortable and making her uncomfortable makes him uncomfortable. Very clear!]

You know, I always suspected I might look good with a tiara and still I think I'd pass.

[Bucky hadn't really been paying too much attention, but when he heard about the baseball game, he thought, "Why not?" It's been so long since he got to actually watch a game and it makes him feel a bit nostalgic. Steve would have loved to see all these kids enjoying the game.

He recognizes Xander and the guy may be a bit funny in the head, but it's always better to watch with someone else than sitting all by yourself.]

You one of those guys who needs to be alone to really enjoy the feel of the game?

[He turns to look at Bucky.] If that's your way of asking if you can sit here, the bench is all yourself. I'm not that extreme.

[Bucky gives him a little half smile because full ones take too much effort and shrugs.] You never know. I've learned not to push my luck with baseball fans. They can get violent.

[He takes a seat close enough to be in speaking distance.]

We're kind of lacking the home teams here. Also, baseball was never exactly my thing. Or sports in general really. Unless you count swimming and that was more of a doing than a watching thing. [And there were giant fish men and it ended badly.]

[Bucky chuckles softly then.] So no Sector 2 and Sector 3 friendly feud? I'm almost disappointed. Half the fun of the game is seeing how rival fans get invested in it.

Well, that could still happen. Are you more of a dragon man or a knights man? It's a question we all must eventually ask ourselves. [It's really not.]

[Xander is a strange guy, but at least he's got a sense of humor. Reminds him a bit of Morita, without all the crude jokes.]

More of a soldier than a knight, but what guy didn't think of slaying the dragon when he was a kid?

Mm, the kind who were more into video games? Unless they were video games about slaying dragons which is also possible.

Never heard of video games... I should really stop being surprised by that kind of thing.

Have you been to the arcade here?

Never had as reason to. Last time I walked by it was all lights and noise. So how do they work, you record yourself doing something and someone else has to film themselves doing it to?

[Bucky is clearly thinking of how video the way it's been related to him--aka digital film--can be used in a game.]

No. That sounds...like a thing you could do that would take time though. [So there's that.]

It's just a game you play on a video screen. Arcade games are a little different, but kind of the same concept.
