Oh. Come on! What type of a connection is this?

[She fumbles for a moment with the device, until she is sure that it is working.]

Hello? This is Special Agent Prentiss with the BAU. I would like to formally request any additiona; information concerning… MarinaNova, was it? Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with any such name and would welcome any intelligence that anyone could provide.

Also… The one in charge of this place? If I could be sent in their direction, I would appreciate it. Or even if someone can point me in the direction of someone who would be able to provide this knowledge.

[A pause.]

Uh, hey guys? Any of you happen to hear this? Not that I can dial out... I can’t be the only one waking up from this crazy dream…

Would you want to know? [ He hasn't pointed it out, nor does he plan to. ]

[She honestly wouldn't know. The concept itself was strange enough to Emily.] I don't suppose Professor Xavier is here then. [Or any other roles that he has played...]

Not anymore... but he's been here, yeah.

[And she holds her hands up.

Not the answer she had been expecting. Had said it more in jest, to cover that unease.

And right now? Not the biggest of her concerns.]
Okay. If I see any celebrities dressed up, I'll just keep that in mind.

That's probably a wise thing to do. [ They do have bigger things to talk about, even if talking about the small and unimportant aspects took away some of the unease he's feeling about seeing her again. ]

So, uhm... where do you want to start? With settling in, I mean. I could show you around, if you want?

Don't suppose you can buy maps of this place somewhere?

Actually, you can access one through your communicator. [ He carefully tugs his own off to show where the menu button is. ] Just click that and you'll find it eventually.

And it's all labeled? [Glancing over. If she's going to be stuck here, she'll need to find her way around.] Or any sort of gps function?

It's not as detailed as it could be, but it's good enough to find your way from point A to point B. No GPS function, I'm afraid but you can usually figure out where you are based on the architecture. The sector gates are marked out too, both on the map and on the actual, uh... gate.

Guess it's back to the old ways then. [Plain old map reading.

Which was fine. She had been able to function just fine without all the devices and technology. Although it did make things easier.]

At least it's a smaller area to cover. [ He doesn't mind it. Maps were always better, even if the tech made it so much faster. Personal preference, perhaps. ]

How small are we talking? [As he will likely give her a rather precise measurement.]

[ And he does give a precise measurement. Square and cubic feet. It's about the size of a small town. ] At least, those are my estimates.

[She could not help but have her expression lighten at that. Just as expected. And, it was those things she had missed, missed when she was gone.]

Certainly larger than I would have thought it to be.

There's plenty of room, yeah. Plenty of amenities too... it's not difficult to keep busy, even if we never really see as much action as in the BAU.

No doubt I interrupted you. [Not that she minded, but, imposing, and how he had been acting, and even if things were different from home...] You can just point me in the proper direction, and I'll look after the rest.

[ He's about to protest — he's got time, really — but it's still pretty awkward and they could probably both need some time to process. Maybe it's better to end it here. ]

If you're sure... [ Shifting his stance, he begins to point out the different sectors. ] Sector 4 is that way. Morgan and Garcia live there and it has some better clothing stores if you want to change. Sector 3 is over there... it has bigger apartments, or so I've been told. Sector 2 is where you can find the Defense Force headquarters, the education center — I teach a class in criminology there twice a week — as well as the last apartment complex.

I'm in [ Floor and apartment number. ] so if you need anything... just knock. Or maybe call first.

[ Girlfriend and all that. Not sure how he's going to come clean about that one. ]

[Awkward was putting it simply. To wrap her head around everything... After all, to her, she had just come back from being dead, and that ground was still rocky to her, still rocky for them. Her own doing, really.]

The attire isn't really my style. [A small crack at a joke, although there was truth behind it. And, from the sounds of everything, it wasn't as if she could just pop into her place and get her own clothing.

That last bit though didn't fail to register, although she didn't inquire as to why. Not that she would just drop in without saying something. Not unless she had a reason to.

But, for everything-]
Thanks, Reid.

[ He gives a small smile at the joke — it's routine, really. Always something about the jumpsuit. If she hadn't said something, he might've been worried. ]

Of course. That's what, uhm... [ Family is for. ] I'll see you later, Emily.

[She was good enough to realize how that sentence would have finished off, had he not trailed off. And he was, they all were. She'd lost enough friends without risking her 'family'.] You will, and I'll make sure to knock.

Good... thank you. [ Not so bad. No worse than he imagined, at least. He gives a small nod before making a start to leave. ]
