Day 206 [Video | Action]
[Waking up is always disorienting for Peter. Waking up in an unfamiliar place wearing clothes that aren’t his is nearly panic inducing. It’s enough that he doesn’t really absorb or register the welcome message that is presented to him. His mind jumps to conclusions: maybe what happened to Dr. Connors is happening to him; the spider DNA is taking over the human DNA and he’s blacking out. Maybe the police caught him and he has a massive head injury, which is why he can’t remember how he got here wearing a prison jumpsuit.

Except…except when he looks around, this isn’t like any prison he’s ever seen, any he’s ever heard of. Once he calms down, he notices that he’s nearly deaf and blind which brings about a fresh wave of panic during which he realizes he’s neither deaf or blind, he’s simply lacking all the spidey senses he’s become so accustomed to. After some experimentation involving doorknobs and benches, he discovers that his super strength is gone as well. It becomes apparent his balance has returned to normal pre-bite clumsy when he trips over his own feet walking over to sit on the bench he’d just been trying to mutilate. That’s when he finally pays attention the information he’s been given and figures out (to a degree) what’s going on. He doesn’t contact the network quite yet though. Instead, he liberates a pair of jeans, a tee shirt, tennis shoes and a hoody, changes into them and hits the food stands. It’s only after he’s dressed and has been fed that he decides to navigate the network. At least his tech knowledge and ability hasn’t been stripped from him.]

And suddenly I’m in Sci-Fi Land, which I always thought should be a real place in Disneyland. I mean they’ve got Tomorrowland, but who are we kidding? It didn’t look anything like what I imagined the future would be. They could bling it out with tech and holograms, all kinds of shiny things and lights, people walking around in too much latex. Maybe an alien or two, the friendly sort…

[He stops rambling and his brow furrows a moment.] That—that got away from me. Any chance Oscorp has their fingers in this?

[ He’d question NYPD because they want Spiderman gone as much as anyone, but he doesn’t think they have the juice or funds to make that happen, not to mention that as far as he knows, they don’t know Peter Parker and Spiderman are one and the same.]

[ooc: If you’d like to action, you can catch Peter in sector 0 wearing the orange jumpsuit, trying to break a bench or a doorknob or a something. You can come upon him sitting on the bench and learning all about Marinanova or shopping in the clothing stores or scarfing down an incredible amount of food at any number of street vendors]

[He hesitates answering simply because this guy seems to know what's going on. Or at least what's not going on.]

Okay. Yeah. Okay. [He presses his lips together, stalling for time as he tries to sort out the billion and one thoughts that are coming at him at light speed.] So not Oscorp. Are they...here? Oscorp, I mean.

I'd say no, but Oscorp's a big company. But Harry's not? [This is one of those baiting moments where Peter's waiting for responses to figure out where to go from here.]

But all signs point to no on that front.

Harry? [He hasn't met Harry yet.]

That's...I guess that's comforting. [He's still deeply confused and that's apparent in his voice.]

Oh, uh. [So maybe he's wrong...? Peter's brow knits.] Harry Osborn.

Heir to Oscorp. But there's a lot worse than a board of directors here, any way.

Yeah. I've heard the name, but I've never met him. The Osborns and the Parkers don't exactly run in the same circles. [Even though at this point, Peter suspects that Norman Osborn might have had something to do with his parents death. It's nothing concrete, more like conjecture based on the file of his fathers that he found.]

[Augh, confirmation. Peter just takes a moment of silence to recollect.]

... Guh. [That's all he's got.]

[Long pause because Peter isn't sure what to make of it.]

Is-is that a confirmation of negativ--okay, yes negative. I mean we're in prison. How can that not be negative? Even if the food is...good and free and not on a tray served by someone named Bubba who calls you Honey at night...wow I'm glad that's not the case, but still. Negative. Prison. Right. Uhm...that is what it is, right? An expression of negative because of the prison not because...I don't know you. Do I? I mean...it's hard to tell. Sure you sound a little...but lots of people sound alike on the phone. Uncle Ben swears I sound like my dad. Anyway...I'll just--stop.

[Uncle Ben button is pushed, does that mean he's still-] Uh.

Negative because I don't really know how to do this. Introduction thing.

Or well I do, I mean with you. Specifically. [...] Ugh, this is weird.

My name's Peter. Parker.

[Give him a moment. Give him several moments. He's going to flail for a bit and try to figure out how he's supposed to respond to that.]

I--uh...uhm...wow.

[Long breath out.]

I knew you sounded familiar.

Apparently this is normal for these parts. Doesn't make it feel normal. I mean, I don't feel normal and you probably don't, it's pretty abnormal. Right? Right.

I uh. Should we devote time to questions or just give ourselves an awkward but relieving amount of time to settle in to this reality.

No. Definitely not feeling normal.It's...weird. Really abnormal. [He takes a deep breath and swallows hard.] Uhm...I...could we do Q&A in a couple of days? [He's got lots of questions but right now he's freaking out a little too much to voice them or make sense of the answers.]

Yeah. Few days sounds good.

[Can you feel him awkwardly scratching his neck?] I'll uh, let you go?

[The awkward is practically tangible.] Ye-yeah. Uhm...have a good day?

[If it helps, he's just as awkward.]
