Day 202 [Action | Open to anyone] Merlotte's
[No doubt it's been a long day for some, newbies or standard inmates. Maybe you're lost, worried, feeling kind of alone and like ya need a stiff drink. Maybe you lost someone a few days ago, maybe you were hoping to find someone or head home yourself, but it didn't happen. Or maybe you're just hungry.

In any case, Merlotte's is open for business and the owner, Sam, is almost always there. There's even a pool table! Come on in and relax, forget about your worries and troubles for a while.]

((ooc: this can work like a mingle if you want to thread-jack and use it for an open meeting spot or what have you. This was kind of a random sudden thing, so have at it! If you want Sam just let me know in your header (or on plurk) , or feel free to mark closed threads for you and yours.))

She keeps me safe. That's what she knows. Dawn gets in trouble and Buffy saves her. Yeah, I probably left out the part about me being a trouble magnet. But it's okay. The fact that she keeps me safe means she wants me around. She loves me.

[She's quiet long enough to take a sip of her drink. When she speaks again her tone is forcibly harsh, full of false bravado.]

Well I'm getting over it. Cause it's stupid. I'm totally worth being with and if he can't see that, then it's his loss. [It probably doesn't sound like she completely believes those words. But hey, she's trying.]

[He nods.] That's a good attitude t'have. He'll see what he's missin' an' one day'll regret it.

[He clears his throat.]

Th'girl I loved that didn' love me... she's a trouble magnet too. Despite doin' what I could, I really cain't be there for her as much as I want to be. I can't help her.

[So, kind of combining the two things they were talking about sort of? He gets why Buffy is so protective of Dawn, cause he wishes he could do something more to help Sookie. But he's no Slayer. At the same time it isn't enough cause Sookie will never really love him like he loved her. She's too caught up in vampires and all that.]

Does th' guy you want love a vamp'r or somethin' too?

It's probably better off for you. Us trouble magnets are... you know... trouble. Plus Buffy is a really cool girl. Sure she gets on my nerves with how good she is at everything sometimes... but that's just me. Buffy's strong and can take care of herself and is dependable and... she must be doing something right in the kissing department cause boys like to kiss her... and do... other things with her... [Like how she made it all awkward there? Yep. This is Dawn. Sorry Sam. She's part of the Buffy package. She shakes her head at the last question.]

No. At least I don't think so. He's one of Buffy's best friends. Almost everyone I know I know through my sister, by the way. And he used to be in love with her. I think every guy loves Buffy at some point if they get the chance to spend any time with her. She's just an all around good person. Anyway, she only ever liked him as a friend. And where I'm from he finally got over her and saw me. Which is like... a novelty cause people don't usually see me. I mean I worried for a little bit that I was second best but he proved otherwise to me. And he's here in the prison. But he's from back when he still had a Buffy thing and I was still little Dawnie to him. I can't even tell you how much awkward it is... or how much it hurts, like I've lost something... something... [She shakes her head.] But I get it. And I'm getting over it. Just sometimes it's harder than others. You can only put on a show and pretend to be okay about it for so long, you know?

Yeah... she is. [Good at all of that stuff. Okay wow, now he's being awkward. He shakes himself out of it.]

I told the girl I love how I felt, I tried t'get closer and be there for her an' she wouldn't see me as nothin' more than her best friend. Instead she ran off with a vamp'r an' jus' when I thought I might have a chance when that ended, she went off with a differen' vamp'r. He's here in th' dome.

[A ruffle through his shaggy brown hair.]

Tell ya what though Dawn, I don' think y'need t'worry. Maybe he'll see ya sooner than later cause I ain't givin' up Buffy t'no one an' he'll have t'git over her. An' if he cain't see ya then his loss.

People here, they seem t'see ya better than some o'the folk back home. Y'might find someone better that'll really do y'well. I know I like ya already.
