{ day 189 } action | open
[ a certain sulky murderer is still thoroughly dissatisfied with this whole "prison" arrangement. one would think he would have grown used to it, given that his life has been a life led in captivity for years anyway-- but he hasn't. the banality of this place, the stiflingly mundane atmosphere, is making him restless. the recent excitement hadn't been enough; he'd jumped at a chance to kill when it came to him days ago, and now he can't quite shake it-- that urge to kill, to crush with his hands or open someone up with a flash of cold steel.

perhaps an evening walk will do him some good.

it's been too long since he has heard any word from jessica, and thus he ventures into sector four. he moves through the place with the same calculated grace as always, never betraying the faint, impotent rage he feels at the thought that she might be gone. the idea that she might have slipped away without a word, without a trace, without a chance for him to see her face or hear her voice again, like odinson and rand-- atton, that smug fool who he had so dearly wished to hurt again-- is unacceptable. he is not accustomed to loss, and even though he knows he must accept that things have been taken from him and, in mentat fashion, carry on, he can't help but feel cheated. not mournful, not sorrowful, but hateful-- and he'd almost like to take a moment or an hour or perhaps the whole evening to submit to that anger.

so he does. he thinks extensively about it, analyzing that bitterness and rage as he stalks through the prison in whatever comfortable shadows he can find. he takes to wandering through sector four and quatro park at first, eventually ending up in the winery at some point in the night for a bit of light drinking, further sulking, and, of course, glaring at anyone who passes by.

[ he scowls and folds his arms across his chest in a fluid, graceful motion-- though not without a faint air of irritation, directed more at the matter of the prison as a whole than at piper. ] My assumption is that they mean to disorient prisoners, given that the vast majority do appear to be from that ancient planet. You are no exception, I presume.

Probably. [To his first comment. To his second...]

I am. [It was strange to hear her home referred to as ancient.]

Are you from the future or something?

The far future. [ he chuckles. ] The year 10191, in fact.

[She stared at him for a second. Really, this shouldn't be that big of a deal, right?]

Ten... thousand?

Ten thousand.

[ this shouldn't amuse him as much as it does, but people from the past are so very precious in their shock and awe. ]

That's... um... pretty far in the future.

[Piper had traveled through time, but nothing past fifty years into her future. Ten thousand was a pretty big jump.]

Are things a lot different?

so late a female piter could be pregnant somewhere

Oh, quite. None of your precious computers are in use any longer, for one. Also worth mentioning may be the diaspora of the human race across several different planets. [ chuckles, just a little too pleased with himself. being a smug future-jerk is so enjoyable. ]

oh my

Well, I suppose that was only a matter of time. [She wasn't from that far in the past that she didn't know about space exploration, at least, and computers and other electronic gadgets seemed to become obsolete faster and faster.

She shifted the heavy bags in her hands, suddenly reminded of their weight. She should probably get going.]

Well, thanks.

[For what little help he'd given.]

[ finally, someone who doesn't try to argue with him about technology; refreshing, that, but even more refreshing is his chance to escape. being antisocial is such intensive work. he smiles and takes a step back, bending into an exaggerated bow. ]

Oh, it was the least I could do.

[ the very least, actually. ]

Hm. [She gave him a small smile. Right.]

Have a good night.
