[184] video | action, open!
[ she's not sure where to begin, really. there's no sense in asking why she's in prison when she was told only minutes prior, and there's no point in trying to make a great first impression when you're stuck in a bulky orange jumpsuit. still, it only takes a moment's thought to decide that the “video” option she's presented with is the best one.

when the camera clicks on, a middle-schooler with light pink hair and eyes is smiling quietly. ]

I don't really know what you're supposed to do here. This is, um... my first time in a prison.

[ and she laughs at that, a sad little laugh full of embarassment and self-deflection. when she's finished, she gives that same subdued smile again. ]

For anyone who's listening, my name is Madoka Kaname. It's nice to meet all of you – I hope we can all be friends.

[ she gives a short bow, not curt so much as rushed, before looking back to the camera with an odd sort of resolution. ]

Homura, if you can hear me, I- tell me where you are, and I'll come and find you. Okay?

[ and with that, she reaches forward, keeping her gaze locked just long enough to turn off the camera. once she's had a few more moments to compose herself, she stands up and exits the room. this is a new place, with new rules and new locales.

and that means it's time to go witch-hunting. ]

(( ooc: feel free to run into madoka anywhere you'd like! right now, she's roaming the facility and wondering why no witch activity is showing up. ))

[He always keeps a close eye on network activity, just in case a certain Pascalle decides to show up during these intermittent floods of people. This girl's no Pascalle, but her name still sets bells and flashing lights off in his brain the second he hears it.]
['Madoka Kaname.']
[He thinks of that Homura girl's flat, mask-like face. Her hardened, dead eyes. Was this Madoka supposed to make her come alive? The comedy to Homura's tragedy or something?]
[This girl? Really?]

[Why, exactly.]
[That's what's really eating away at him. No one gets this upset over a misplaced friend. Something more's going on.]

[He notes the location of the video feed, gets himself up, and goes out the door and into the general area where she was. He can frame this all pretty easily as just a chance encounter. 'I just so happened to be walking by the so-and-so, and there you were.']
['It's not like I already knew your name.']
['It's not like I followed you here.']

Hey.

[Birdman keeps his distance but brings up a warm, inviting smile.]

Are you one of the new arrivals?

[ she's given up on producing her soul gem at this point - it's a ring on her finger, and it looks like it's staying that way for the foreseeable future. she is absolutely and completely powerless, in a prison, and that makes her feel lonelier than ever. so when a man's voice reaches her ears, her instinctive reaction is alarm. she turns on a dime, facing him with wide eyes, and only when she realizes he's smiling and not approaching does she relax a little bit. (a little bit - this is a prison, isn't it?) ]

...mmhmm. [ after a moment, she bows politely in his direction. he looks to be an upperclassman, after all. ] My name is Madoka Kaname. It's nice to meet you.

[ it's a little stiff, and a lot more formal than she was intending, but she's not exactly in the right state of mind to deal with this sort of thing just yet. ]

[The bowing is a little weird, and he looks a bit puzzled about it, but okay. He wonders for a second if she's going by some bizarroworld set of etiquette rules and is expecting him to bow back or something? Because he's not gonna do that.]

[The mask she's wearing is obvious enough. She's seen something, wherever it was she just came from.]
The jump over can be kinda hard on people. I'm surprised you're out walking around so soon after getting here.
